I call most females doll, its a scottish thing, although older ladies sometimes hen. My special one if she's been good, princess. Pet,baby, babygirl or baby doll are also used frequently.Good wee lassie as special praise.
And I'm old enough to be called one.
I agree with the Captain's Wench and Chauderlos that words that might be vulgar or demeaning in one context can be very special when said by the right person in the right context. However, I can't imagine any person ever calling me "hen" and making me feel special, even if said with a Scottish accent. And I'm old enough to be called one.
I'll keep babe and darling (and its variants) and one other word, thank you very much.
And my Mom still calls me honey bunny. I love that.

My Je t'aime calls me babydoll .... *shivers*
I was called "sexy baby darlin'" by an ex which used to just make me melt ....
My Dad calls me Princess, I call him Daddy-Dearest or Daddy-Do & my Mother calls me Mighty Mouse and I call her Mummy Darling Thing....
My friends call me Chi ... and my brother calls me Chong-Wah ... I call him "Duck".... I have one special friend who calls me "scragbag" ... kind of an personal joke and I don't take it seriously ....
Like when I've done something so totally over the top mean or funny or wrong, and taken someone so by surprise that however much they want to be respectful they actually blurt out, 'oh you bitch!'
(for example: i didn't say I was going to stop at 21. I just said you should count to 21.)
I don't remember what I did to earn that, but the moment was unforgettable.

I dreamt up a new one recently.
"my little rape victim"
