you know it's funny really. When I started out i just posted pics of my breasts for my AV,when i got more confident other body parts came into play,then I even did an AV of me totally naked and people loved it because it was all genuine and me.


I don't like bits of my body..my thighs i feel are flabby, my boobs saggy when not pushed up in a bra etc....but people love these bits of me..I know am much more inclined to show myself au naturel because i have had so many flattering comments about my "bad" bits!

It is comments like this and an advertising industry filled with photos of women airbrushed to perfection that do major damage to a woman's body image and self esteem.

Posting close up pics of her most private parts on the AmPic Board is safe for a woman because she knows that she will always get a positive response. If she puts up some less explicit, tastefully posed nudes that show a real woman's body with all it's inherient "flaws" then she has to worry about dealing with comments like the one above.

You're probably right Birdie... But to be honest, some of the comments I've seen posted as a result of women posting lead me to believe that MOST men DO think with the wrong head.

Personally I prefer photos which are less explicit. Oh don't get me wrong, I love the naked shots too, but even fully body, fully naked shots can be done tastefully.

People are total units, they aren't boobies, or penises. They aren't pink shots or cum shots. They are people, from the head, to the toes. This is nothing sexier in my opinion, than a woman scantily dressed, but not revealing it all. The mind fills in the details with the image luring it further on.

Damn, its hard to type today. I have an infection on my arm, probably ANOTHER hobo spider bite and its quite painful. Sigh...

I agree with you completely Bobmi357. I think tasteful nudes or partial nudes are much nicer as well. I was just trying to point out one of the possible reasons why there aren't more pictures like that on the AmPic thread.

I'm sure another reason may have to do with wanting to remain somewhat anonymous. It would be damn near impossible to identify someone out in public if you have only seen close ups of their intimate parts, but once you introduce full-length shots that may contain your hairstyle, the outline of your facial features, the overall shape of your body, and clothing that is worn outside the privacy of one's own home, you run the risk, however slight, of being identified.

I bet not everyone who posts amateur pics here wants the other Litsters in their town to know they are doing it.

I'm not a very visually excited person. I like stories and ambience and ... well, pics of genitalia is more clinical than inspirational. I spent a little time at the pic board and didn't find much that I liked.

A visual story ... words and pictures side by side ... that would be something different, but I didn't find anything like that.

To each her own, though. And I realize that men tend, on the whole, to be more visually enhanced.

Nice to hear from some people who think similarly to me.

I started a thread along similar lines in the amateur pics board yesterday, though specifically talking about porn cliche's in general, but yes, a lot of people here seem to think they need to produce typical porn in order for people to find it visually stimulating. Personally the gynaecological shots do nothing for me, and yes I think a lot of penises (penii?! ) are beautiful, but that's also a great deal to do with who they are a part of - having a disembodied one almost literally shoved in my face is generally of little appeal.

I like to think the pics I've taken and posted in the last few days (https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=206747) wouldn't be regarded as 'pornography' - I've certainly been very clear about what I'm not prepared to show. For me, sensuality and humour and very appealing and I'd only hope that I've relayed a bit of that too.

i think the close ups might have a lot to do with trying to keep up anonymity and/or having to take one's own pictures. close ups of genitalia just remind me of anatomy lab, which is the opposite of erotic.

In taking a spin through the amateur pic board I was surprised to see the unusual amount of extreme closeups.

Are people really turned on by seeing someone's penis or vagina from 2.5 inches away?

Has the art of tasteful erotic photography been lost forever at the amateur level?

I don't get it, from 2.5 inches, one vagina looks like every other vagina, one penis looks like every other penis.

Maybe its just an offshoot of our current porn industry which also favors penis cams and extreme closeups.

Looks like I am going to be the voice of dissent here. Maybe I'm just tuned in to the right threads, but this hasn't been my experience. Some of the most popular threads I've seen, and some of the best photography, are of women who don't show it all. For instance:

But I will also argue that extreme closeups can be erotic. In this category, I like pictures that convey the sensations she is feeling, and the fact she is exposing that private part of herself (not just physically, but emotionally) for all the world to see is a large part of the turn-on. The pictures I am thinking of I view as "intimate" rather than "gynological". These pictures can be quite artistic as well. If you don't believe me, check out Stargazer's thread.

The difference for me is significant enough that the Am board is the only online porn that I look at. The difference is not so much the pictures, but the people. I haven't gotten the impression the women are looking to "hook up", but rather just to show off in a forum where they can exercise their latent exhibitionistic side in an anonymous way. If you are lurking through threads looking at the flesh, rather than the person, then maybe it is your perspective that makes them all look the same.

I will agree with you on the "cock in your face" pics, but then that isn't my thing, lol, and it is easy enough not to look at them. There may well be a lot of what you are referring to on the amateur boards, and I may not see it because the threads I am subscribed to keep me more than satisfied. But do take a look at some of the threads I've referenced above before you write it all off as the same, there are some incredible pictures of some beautiful (in more ways than one) people on there.
