i love threads like this. ilt seems like it has been quite a long time since i've seen one. i'll get more closeup pics of my tattoos. but you can see them pretty well with these ones. i also have my ears stretched to a 00, a septum(nose), labret (lip) and hood piercing, besides the nipple piercings that you'll see in one of the pics. both my arms will have leopard print to match my lower back, hopefully next year.

My latest...finally got it done (started)....well most of it...I am not happy with some of the shading and have talked with the artist. He will be doing more work on it but this is what is done so far.

Well I still have a lot of work to do on my arm tattoo, but eventually it will be done. I am sure when it is though I will move on to doing another one. They are just so damn addictive just when you think your done or getting close to done and this is going to be the last one a new idea hits and you start again it seems.

And then there are the few piercings I have. Right now I have my tongue, labret (which I don't have a pic of at the moment), nipple, and PA. Have a few ideas for more piercings but want to finish up my tattoo's first then I will worry about more of them. Leaning towards possibly some beading at some point but we shall see took me long enough to decide on the PA before I did it.

Wow! Thanks to everyone for sharing their body art. I hope you don't mind my asking, but what is it that you find so rewarding about tatoos?

Also, I can understand certain kinds of piercings... Those that heighten sexual stimulation in one way or another, but what's up with all the others?

Please understand that I in no way judge or disapprove of these practices. I just don't get them.

BTW, I did consider getting a tatoo back when I was in a band. The band was called "Blue Dot," and I thought it would be interesting to get a single blue dot on my hand.... basically nothing more than a blue freckle. I didn't, though, and the band has long since broken up.

I have no comments towards body piercings.

As for tattoos............All I can say is that I hate the pain
I hate the process of getting a tattoo, however,
the feeling of having something that no one can ever take
away from me is my reward.

In my case, not most, is that I was abused for so many years.
My tattoos reflect my freedom from that. I am no longer in a cage.

I am now a free spirit...a Butterfly with wings to fly
No matter what life tosses my way,
I will always be the Butterfly with no cage

When I die, the tattos are mine....no one can ever take my freedom away
They are me, who and what I am...They are the only things I can take with me when I die. They are what I will be remembered by...with a smile

May seem strange, but it is my ultimate expression of my freedom from my past and an opening to my future....I now have "soft netting" ....no cages...this is how I want the rest of my life to be and how I want to show my life story....my struggle for freedom, of which I now have..***** can be grand

I currently have 5 tattoos...each one symbolizing a certain period in my life. My very first one at 18 is a American Indian Med. Shield on my right ankle (goes up to about mid calf) with 3 strands of pipe beads connecting around my calf. I've always been interested in American Indian culture and artifacts and such. Second is a Dragon on my left shoulder....I believe that the dragon is my guardian animal (Yeah...I'm weird like that...*grins* I'm into Wicca)...3rd is a Celtic knotted circle on the small of my back. I loved the design in that one...(I'm an artist as well). 4th is a very vampiric-gothic ankh that I drew up myself on my left hip area...and the 5th is 2 music notes from my time livin in TX and that I love music (interned at a couple recording studios). I still have to get a tattoo for my time living in GA which I plan on getting with a friend who lives down in GA. I also have 4 piercings in each ear as well as my tongue and both nipples done.

My addictions represent me....it's my way of showing who I am...I guess in a sense, showing myself off. When I was younger...and up to even a couple years ago...I've always been self conscious...and with my piercings and tattoos...they've become a part of my healing, in a sense. They've helped me deal with certain issues in my life (the nipple piercings were a present to myself for a recent break-up that took a toll on my emotions). They're just a part of me...I really don't know how to explain it that much more.

Each piercing is significant, in it's own way; and was done for reasons distinct from the others.

It was rational, if not logical, as well as semi-spiritual in nature.
