Piercing, for me, was a way of memorializing an internal process of passing from bondage into freedom. A coming of age, if you will.

Each piercing is significant, in it's own way; and was done for reasons distinct from the others.

It was rational, if not logical, as well as semi-spiritual in nature.

Yes, I did all of mine myself.

My kitty tattoo was my 30th b-day present to myself, my tongue stud is about three years old and my vertical hood is a mere six/seven months old

I also have a star between my shoulder blades....but don't have a good pic of it

Here are my tats. Both my arms have a fair bit of meaning to me personally, both because of my appreciation of japanese art, and what they represent to me. My back peice is symbolic of the most repetitive dream I have, where Im flying, but every time I wake up... I seem to have forgotten how. I have about an hour left on the them.

I aslo have 7 piercings: both my nipples, 2 4g in my lobes, an eyebrow, a nose ring and a labrette.

Id like to hear what people think of the tats

I, personally, Would love to see you syncronize both "ying and yang" ( as I see your arms, separatlely) and the separation along your back joined as a story

Not sure if you looked at mine....but my next move is to "ink together" the story of my life...It may seem lame to ya'll..but my path to freedom was a hard one...my life will inked upon my back...I have the basics...now I need the grounding, so to speak....


My cocoon forever...no one will ever be able to take me from me...ever again!

I fly due to my own whims...always....but I now realize where my cocoon will be...I will not stray far........always finding myself flying home


Just a side note...BD,,, you f'd it up....you could have had all you wanted....now all I can offer is friendship...Now I have what you did not give me....your mistake and your loss

Friends til we die? I guess time will tell

I will always hold in my for you in a special place....But he now has most of my heart....well you know what I mean

I am sorry to hear that both of you suffered early in your lives, and that you both found freedom, and the ability to express it, through the modification of your bodies.

What questions have we not answered?...If you need clarification, I am sure we will be obliged to go deeper, although I do not seem how, as of yet...but can muster up more if you need...Can you now understand that the tats are more that what they appear to be?

You answered the questions that I asked but, in doing so, raised even more in my mind. Clearly, your body art has a deep and profound meaning for you. I remember you saying something about how they can't ever be taken from you and, to a point, I understand that statement. In my mind and heart, the freedom you now feel, that you've fought for and earned for yourself, is something that can never be taken from you, even if you didn't have tatoos. The tatoos are a symbol of that feeling, but just one of many possible symbols and, in my mind, no more or less permenant than anything else in this universe. Even if your tatoos were removed by force, the freedom you've experienced, and manifest in your life, can't be. To confuse the two seems somehow to diminish your real accomplishment: reclaiming your life. I know that's not a question. I don't claim to know what the hell I'm talking about. I'm just trying to understand.

Well, one of my piercings got commented on today by a very cute girl at work & rather embarrassingly, had me blushing for ages afterwards.

When helping one of our new staff with a problem she had, she just stopped the conversation dead in it's tracks & said "You've got a tongue stud haven't you?" to which I sheepishly replied yes & poked one of the balls out. Her response was to say "Cool" then she poked her tongue out, she's got 2 studs in her tongue, then as she walked away, she gave me a very cheeky wink All my opther piercings started to get affected straight afterwards

I think it opens the door for more dialog about life. I have spoken with several strangers about my tats and their own (and many who do not have any)...They then learn about me, which in my book, counts for learning more about people and life in general...not just me

I somehow expect that people would talk to you whether you had tats or not. Why? You're a hottie! You've got no choice about that. You're just hot.

I can see, though, how they might lead to meaningful conversations about your experiences, and how you overcame the challenges in your life. That, alone, is a wonderful reason to have them.

You would be surprised how few people know how to start a conversation...the tats are kind of an icebreaker in of themselves...even if there is no dialog as to the meanings of them, people will comment on them and ask who did them, where did I have them done, etc.. The meaningful dialogs are rare with strangers, but do happen

This is my tat..it's on my upper left arm. It's my daughter's name coming out of a broken star. the meaning behind it is..my ex wife cheated on me and left me and took my son,and daughter. Stephenie as always been my little star,and when she left..it was like a piece of me was goen. so the star is broken to represent that she isn't with me. The other meaning is..i got the tat over alot of scars. i tried to kill myself,and then she was born..and she healed my scars..so to speak..so i got it over my scars. my son's is next..just trying to find a good artist down here.

That is the 1st question but usually, the 1st comment is on how beautiful they are

I am to be married tomorrow...He is not jealous of my Lit life...He has even met people from Lit face to face with me! I talk with anyone who can carry on a conversation...LOL...even if they are not beautiful in my eyes...hehehe
