I'm getting my second wisdom tooth in. I now understand what infants go through when cutting teeth

Half of my face is puffy and I've been sucking on ice all day. Right now I'm chewing on a pencap because it feels good.

The first wisdom tooth took almost a full year to grow in, pushing up a little, then not bothering me for a month, then repeating until it finally came all the way in.

Now I have to deal with it again. And then two more times.

(Unless any of them need removing :()

I don't know if I have a small mouth or something, but my dentist wanted me to get my wisdom teeth removed before they even came in. So they put me out and they were gone, quick and relatively painless. That's the way to do it. :)

Don't most people need to get them out eventually?

If I were you I would take the route I did and have em cut out after they first break through the surface of your gums. If you cant or dont want to do that you should try Oragel, it helped with the pain some when mine were cutting through. Otherwise you should take a few Motrin to help reduce the inflammation.

Um, I don't get surgery or removal or medicate myself unless I absolutely need to.

If the wisdom teeth become impacted, grow in wrong or I absolutely have to have them removed, then and only then will they be removed.

Right now, I have *just* enough room for them. The first one (Bottom Left) grew in perfectly straight and nothing wrong with it at all. The bottom right one is just beginning, and after an X-ray found that it also was coming in perfectly so far.

Why do something that doesn't need to be done to my body?

I had braces on my teeth and right after the braces came off, I had to have all four wisdom teeth pulled at once. I was asleep while they yanked them. It was a piece of cake. I was home and back to work logged in remotely within a couple hours. Confused the hell out of my secretary- she sent me a message that she thought I was supposed to be having my teeth pulled so how could I be online sending her work to do? hehe

Get them taken out- all four at once. Easiest way to reduce your suffering.

Blah on orajel and motrin.

Whiskey. Put some on a qtip and rub your gums with it. Or gargle. Swallow at your own discretion. Old home remedy, works like a charm.

I told you that you'd gain wisdom someday, Angel. *smile*

So tell me... who's the Master who makes your tooth hurt?

I didn't do that, but I'm pretty drunk right now (Sorry EBW) so it feels much better.

ripped??????

that's gonna get her to the dentist ...

how about extracted? a kinder gentler word .... lol

Angel ... you might be better off getting then extracted now ...... they will eventually push your other teeth and may make them crooked

I had my wisdom teeth taken out a few weeks ago. I only had three....go figure....the fourth one just wasn't there. Anyway, one of mine was impacted (completely sideways). The doctor knocked my ass out and ripped the little fuckers out. The pain wasn't too bad, then again I was doped up on vicaden (sp?) and codine for two weeks. I say have them taken out so they don't mess up your other teeth.

At least you're not a freak like me Angel~girl.. According to x-rays, I've got two of 'em fuckers in each corner, the Doctors recommend yanking them, but they've never given me trouble so I'm leaving them. Why mess w/ something thats not broken?

But if it's causing you pain.. that's a whole different story.

Cutting your hair didn't help...

it created an imbalance in your body which had to put right immediately...hence the wisdom tooth.

Ahhhh good ol' vicadin, still got half of my prescription to use at my discretion. I had 2 impacted wisdom teeth cut out about a month ago, didnt have any bruises or anything like the oral surgeon said I would. And I must tell you all it was pretty cool looking in my mouth after the stitches fell out and seeing this big gapping hole in my jaw bone where the little bastards used to be.:)

Eeeew Angel Cakes that hurts like hell, I had all of my removed and cut out a couple of years ago, they got to where they were hurting too much. :(

I feel ya sweetie :(

I had all four of mine extracted by an oral surgeon. They were pushing into the roots of my other teeth, and none of them had erupted. It was very painful, so I had them taken out. I would suggest the same for you!

There's some stuff called "Orabase B" it's a topical numbing paste, and it worked for me.

Alright kids :p

Just got back from the sexy dentist. (Yes, my dentist is one sexy hunk of man wheee! :D)

He told me that he's not removing them. My first wisdom tooth came in absolutley straight, didn't fuck with my other teeth, and is sitting there all hunky dory in the back of my mouth.

The one that is coming in right now looks just as hunky dory as the first, and the pain and swelling I have right now has nothing to do with anything other than teething. (Who wants to provide me with the teething ring?)

He said he doesn't recommend removal unless the tooth becomes impacted, infected or will cause damage to the gums/teeth/roots etc.

He says this one, if it continues on it's current course will grow in perfectly and fit in there nicely.

Actually the swelling has gone down, after spending the night drunk off my ass and sucking on ice. And it no longer hurts as bad. And I can see it beneath the surface of my gums. (Gross!)

Licky - I lost all but two baby teeth by the time I hit high school. The two remaining teeth were the top eye-teeth. One finally fell out in 10th grade after being punched in the mouth - and it took over a year for the adult tooth to grow in.

The remaining baby tooth is still there, as an adult tooth never developed above it. I had the option of removal, but I preferred a baby tooth rather than a gap or shelling out the dough for a fake.

I've never had a cavity, or braces or anything done to my teeth aside from regular cleanings and checkups so....

I'm utterly petrifeid of having anything new done in there LOL.

That's good news! Very relieving, too! It's always nice to hear that you don't have to go under the knife.

I lived through two years of torture while my wisdom teeth grew in, because I didn't want the surgery. Guess what...in the end they became impacted and I had to get them out anyway. I hate doctors, surgery, and loss of control, but that believe me woman, it wasn't worth it. Get them pulled as soon as possible.
