Poetry for killing time

This is one I call.

The Demon

The Demon chases me at night
It waits for me ready to pounce
It wants me in its grasp

The Demon looks for me
It searches, its eyes drunk with love
It follows me forever

The Demon is not my friend
It wants and desires me
It reaches for me

The Demon can be beaten
It can be pushed away
It doesn't need to have me

The Demon will be gone

I sure understand about demons....sighs. You wanna talk, you know where I am. I'm very glad you are continuing to write creatively. Kudos, Spence! I  you my friend!

Thanks Poppy! These things just keep "poppying" out of me! LOL

Did everybody like it? Or did it suck?

We have to not talk.
There is something
I have to not say.
What does it matter
what it cost me
to give you up.
When the choice
is all or nothing
and all is not mine to give,
can I gift wrap nothing
and make it pretty.
If I give you nothing,
how can nothing take
so much out of me.
I will say nothing
or risk one kind word
or smile from you
and weaken my will,
because when I said
I would leave
before I hurt you
I never thought
I could.
Beautiful.

lol...I write my poetry mostly very spontaneously as well. Perhaps you will even come to grasp the reality of the Rhyming Sickness that overtakes me at times. It's probably a symptom of my obsessive/compulsive tendencies but it is very much a "demon" when it strikes. Gotta get it out or it consumes me.

And so, when it was timeto stop living and start loving, clear it became to me:
I would rather love than live.
And when it was time to stop breathing and start dreaming
I dreamt only of you.

Now it is time to forget you
But I won't.
Don't force the rain to forget the sky.

My Demon is different. But, we all have them.

Atmas....*hugs*.
How be you?
I hate you blue.
One so true.

Atmas....*hugs*
May you find peace.
May your pain cease.
Please...release!

There are times in the night
When a fog of forgetfulness creeps in
Sinuous smoke of misdirection furls -
Loneliness lies to me again.

Insulated from the warmth of my loves,
And the regard of those who love me -
My blood, my friends, my lovers
Fade into ghosts of insubstantiality.

Needy thoughts dance like ghouls
On the graves of my happy faiths.
The fears of the past rise again
Like zombies, craving emotional sweetmeats.

Beliefs hard learned are swept away
On a tide of serpentine doubt
and creeping multi-legged shame -
my bondage to failure, renewed.

Then come the tears, the fears,
Cravings for a slow suicide high
Terror is too small a word for this
Despair follows this lure like lightning.

Then, suddenly, out of a dream of forgiveness
The kind winds of battles won, changes wrought
Freshen the cesspool of my battered psyche
I breathe deeply, and begin again.

The Writings of Spence

The Muse doth inspire
With words from the Shire
Sometimes the desire...
To share of our stories.

We each have our voices
Our Muse gives us choices
Our spirit rejoices...
Our pains and our glories.

:)

Thanks Poppy. I don't know what to say.

How about a big round of applause for Poppy, for contributing and especially for encouraging.

Thank you poppy, but it's really not a sad poem after all.

I know...I was weeping for the finding of the hope once again. At least that's what I got from it. Much more profound than all the pain in life sometimes.

Yes. What I wish for most. Thanks for understanding.
