The cool evening air felt good as it tore at my face, clearing my head and allowing me to think. Reality was the word, reality meaning who would want a loner like me? No roots, no place to call my own and no friends...All being my own fault of course, I acknowledged as I swung off the road following Rita's directions to the Inn.

"A room for the night, paid in advance 65 bucks" came the reply at the desk...

"Uhh, Ri...errr Smitty said to come here?" I told the elderly man

"Shhhheeeitt, Mister..Why the hell didn't ya say so in the first place, that'll be 40..uhh...35 dollars and you can have breakfast with me and the Missus in the mornin!"

"Does that mean I get my own room, or do I have to sleep with the "Missus" too? " I questioned him, trying to hold back the grin.

"If ya did, twould be the first time in years she'd crack a smile" He said with a cackle "Take cabin three, down by the creek. There's a leantoo you kin put yer bike in, and the water heater still works, NOW GIT!"

Taking the key he offered, I grinned as I left, kicking the bike to life, heading for the cabin...

Nightmares of a failed past

The cabin was perfect, large, well kept with a fireplace...The bed was new, the sheets crisp and clean as I slid into them.

Sleep came as it always did though, me tossing and turning as the ghosts returned...Soon I had the covers thrown off, my body covered in sweat as I battled them helplessly.

"NO...No!!!" I heard a voice cry out, a face hauntingly beautiful behind it...Then a different sound, one not normally found in my restless version of hell...A ringing, insistent, demanding....

A telephone!!! I suddenly understood, coming gratefully out of my private tortures... Tossing the pillow from my arms, its surface imbedded with my fingers deep in it surface, I grabbed the annoying device from the nightstand it sat perched on.

"What is it?" I demanded, then listened to the voice on the other end

"No, I can't, I I'm sorry but I need a lot more information before I take on another case...Ya gotta understand, there's no room for error in something like this...Yeah, Yeah I know....And Hey? I'm sorry....I wish we could have another time, but...Yeah, Bye"

Knowing I would never be able to sleep now, I pulled my shirt back on, hopping into my boots as I headed for the door...A ride, I needed a fast, hammering ride...it always helped drive away the ghosts....

Once again I found myself straddling the beast, its custom pipes howling at me, music to my ears....Just a fast, hard ride...then I could return to the cabin and find peace in my sleep.....

OOC:....We have lost "wild" to RL issues, may they be solved soon and work out for the best...But we have found a new lady who has graciousally consented to step in....Thank You!!!

Miranda

Way too quiet I thought to myself when the bike came whizzing by doing at least eighty two by the radar. "Got me a hippie biker," I whoop. "Probably high, too." This was going to be great. I could always use a quick brush up on my hand-to-hand skills. I want him to give me a hard time. Or at least try.

I took off down the road, only putting on my siren and lights when I came up next to him. "Pull over, buddy!" I said through the speaker and could barely keep from laughing as I watched his mouth forming one word. "Fuck."

The bike glided to a stop as I stopped the radio car right behind him. I waited for him to drop the kick stand before I put my hat on and headed over to him. "Where you going in such a hurry, bud? Clocked you at 82 back there." I spoke slowly as people tend to do to someone who doesn't speak any English or to a small child.

I could see the spark of anger in his eyes, and it pleased me. "License and insurance. NOW!" He had already pulled his wallet out and was removing his papers, but I just had to bust his balls. "Clocked you at 82 back there. This is a 25 mile an hour zone."

It wasn't really, but I knew there were no signs up within ten miles of where we were. "Do you know how to read, Richard Daniels? If that is your real name," I added with a sneer. "Walk with me back to the car. And don't try anything stupid." God how I wished he would. Love to teach him a lesson he wouldn't soon forget.

The perp tried to say something, but I give him a shove toward the hood of the car. "Shut up! You'll talk when I say you can talk and not before. Spread 'em, smart ass!" I thought I heard him mumble something so I prodded his legs apart with a not-so-gentle nudge from my club. Just for good measure.

Guys just had to push it when they saw a chick cop. Macho pigs always think they can pull a fast one. Only a girl after all. I leaned against him, whispering. "I have to pat you down. Never know what you might have concealed."

"What the hell!" he blurted.

"I said shut up!" I heard him grumble as I ran my hands over his back and pressed against him as I then felt his chest. "Nice," I whispered as my hands ran lower. Over his hips and down his thighs before I trailed them back up the inside of his legs. "Mmmm... " I murmured as my hand grazed along his balls and up over his dick. "Nice package, Daniels" I chuckled as I gave him a squeeze that was a little less than tender.

"You know this ticket is going to cost you big time, don't you?" I grinned, patting his butt.

Meeting Officer Miranda...

"FUCK" I growled as the lights cameon the two lane highway, looking down at the speedo I saw the needle hovering at 80 miles per hour.

Letting the bike coast to a stop, the black and white cruiser on my tail I flicked the stand down and swung off the soft tail...

In the blinding headlights a figure came towards me, a gruff female voice barking orders at me.

..."Where you going in such a hurry, bud? Clocked you at 82 back there." It said

"82 My ass" I mumbled under my breath, mentally reminding myself to keep my cool...

"License and insurance. NOW!" She commanded "Clocked you at 82 back there. This is a 25 mile an hour zone."

"KEEP YOUR COOL" I repeated to myself "25 Zone, No goddamn way" I mumbled again to no one...

(The rest was history...Her roughing me up with the stick, the "Spread and Search" routine, although her grab and stroke play startled me.....And then the ticket.......)

"That'll be a hundred thirty five dollars....CASH" She all but laughed at me "Or a free nights stay in our cooler"

"I already have a room, Thanks" I told her, pulling the cash from my pocket and taking the ticket she rammed at me. Stuffing the paper in my pocket I hopped back on the bike, fired it up and slowly turned it around onto the black top road...

It wasn't till later, back in the cabin when I emptied my pockets that I read the ticket...THEN, picking up the phone and dialing the operator I told the voice.

"Connect me to Teddies Bar and Grill"

Rita aka Smitty for long...

http://www.Bibracte.dreamwater.org/ATWAS/PhoebeRita.jpgGreg, Terri and I finished off the pitcher while we sat at the bar talking. It had been a shot in the dark and Rick had flat out turned me down. None of us had any other ideas. Oh, well.

I picked up the phone when it rang, "Teddies. Smitty here."

The voice on the other end of the line merely said, "It's me. I've changed my mind."

I couldn't believe my ears. "No way. Really?"

"Yes way. There are some things I need you to do for me. Listen up."

I grabbed a pad and pencil and wrote down his instructions. Some were more easy to carry out than others, but all were doable. I asked if there was anything else, to which he replied that he would keep in touch.

I walked back around the bar to where Greg and Terri were talking quietly. "I have a possible solution for what we can do about Miranda." Both of them looked up in surprise. "I'll need help from both of you though."

Almost in unison they said, "Name it."

The three of us laughed aloud. "I'll let you both know when I have more details."

I started to walk away and then turned back to Terri. "Hey, Ter? I do need you to do something for me. Before Miranda's next shift you need to call her out with an excuse serious enough that her absence will be excused for the next week or so. And I'll need to see you both back here in the morning."

Greg and Terri eyed me quizzically, but instinct told them that this might be the last chance any of us had to bring Miranda back to us.

Terri.

I sat up in my bed and watched him sleeping. Greg was a real good man and I wished him no harm. I just had to invite him back to my apartment.

Did I do the dirty on Miranda by stealing her man for just a night? I kept thinking. Yes. I felt guilty but then I was desperate to have him. And he was good. Just what I needed.

Things must be bad between him and Miranda, I thought on. Because that desperation was equally shared between us. Both of us going without sex for some time. We let ourselves go and it was really wild and over so quickly.

Was I guilty? You bet I felt guilty, I could not sleep. Still, it was good to have company and someone to share my bed. I was not in love with him. I just kind of liked him as a friend. A good friend.

I stroked his forehead and watched him stir slightly. Then I lay on the pillow next to his, facing him, watching him before I fell asleep thinking about him and what we did earlier.

Dreams of desire and pleasure

Leaving Teddies together was no mistake after Rita announced she has a solution for Miranda.

"Call her in sick?" Terri had questioned "Rita's probably got a shrink lined up for her, But I trust her"

"I hope they use shock therapy" I joked "Miranda could use a good jolt"

We had laughed at the crude joke, Terri leaning against me as tears came to her eyes. Looking down at her face, the next thing I knew she was wrapped in my arms, my lips wrapped around hers.

Not a single word was spoken as I drove to her apartment, her warm form curled against me, my arm wrapped around her.

"Come in?" She said, her lonely eyes looking into mine.

"Yes" I replied, bending and carressing her lips with mine once again. The short walk past the night watchman and the steps to her door were a blur. But the sight of her as she shrugged the dress off her shoulders was an image I'll never forget.

"Come" She said simply, her treasures exposed for me to admire, her hands held out to me.

Again I replied in the affirmative and she led me into her bedroom. The loving was gentle, as a woman of such beauty should be loved, each curve explored and kissed, each hollow gently nuzzled.

Her cries of pleasure met my own, her tears of joy and sorrow mixed with mine as we held each other into the night.

Opening my eyes, for an instant I thought it had been only a dream, one too good to be reality. But reality it was, I joyfully discovered, her sweet visage nestled on my arm.

A gentle kiss to her lips, disturbing her slumber and sweet words of waking "Good Morning Beautiful" As her eyes open and meet mine

Terri

Once again, we made love. This time more gentle and less hastily than the night before. We took the time to explore each other more and discover what we both liked and disliked. Even in the shower we both shared we had sex, and it was as if we were meant for each other.

"What have I been missing?" he whispered in my ear. That made me think and it returned my mind to Miranda.

"The next shift begins at 2 this afternoon." I said. "We have to sort things out remember. Smitty wants us to get back to her this morning."

"Dayum!...yes. Just as things were getting real interesting."

We joked and played around and eventually, holding him off from me I made the vital phone calls. First to Miranda to check where she was; she answered the phone at her own apartment telling me all about her nights adventures and asked if I would be in later. I told her yes and I arranged to meet her at noon in "Teddies"

"Is that a good thing?" Greg asked. I put my hand over his lips so she could not hear him....our conversation was still going on.

Then I called in to the precinct and told the shift administrator that Miranda had to go away to see her parents urgently and would be taking some time out on sick leave. They agreed and said they would arrange it.

"What about you Terri?"

"I don't need to call in sick. Besides, I have to be on duty, I'm not sick." Once again I hoped that everything was laid on as it should be. Greg was trying to undress me again, but we had serious business to deal with.............."Ay, later....OK? I reminded him. "I've not finished with you either...."

"Smitty"

http://www.Bibracte.dreamwater.org/ATWAS/PhoebeRita.jpgTerri and Greg were at the end of the bar talking quietly. Something had changed between them and I thought I liked it. As for me? I found myself singing aloud to the folksy rhythm of "Ripple" by the Dead playing on the jukebox.

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music
Would you hold it near as it were your own?

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air...

It took me back to a happier, gentler time in my life and I couldn't help wondering if any of us would know that serenity again. We were embarking on a dark and risky journey to bring Miranda back home.

Terri had said Miranda was meeting her here at noon. The three of us looked at each other nervously. Just a couple of minutes til and we were all wondering if she was even going to bother to show. She had become so unpredictable lately. You just never knew what she was going to do. Rick hadn't showed yet either and I, for one, was getting a bit nervous.

At five after the door swung open letting in some sunshine darkened only by the outline of Miranda striding in. Wiping my hands on a bar towel, I called out to let the others know she had arrived, "Hey, Miranda! What'll you have?"

Miranda

"Hey, Miranda! What'll you have?" 'Smitty'. Sometimes that chick made my nose bleed with all her cheery shit. "JD and Coke," I called back as I headed for the end of the bar where Terri and Greg were sitting.

"Hey, Babe. Glad you could make it." Greg said as he looked up from his conversation with my partner. I pushed him away when he tried to kiss me and slipped onto a stool, chugging down my drink. "Another one, Smit. Thanks."

I looked at Terri then. Her face was just a bit flushed. "Well, well, well. What have we here? You two look awful cozy. What the fuck is going on? You making a move on my man, Terri? Not that he's much of a man... "

"Whoa! Hold on there, Miranda! Chill." Greg, still standing, moved between myself and Terri. "We were talking about what a bitch you've become. What the hell is your problem?"

"Whoa yourself, buckaroo! Since when did you become the new Freud of the Pacific Northwest? If you're screwing her, just say so. She's not the 'Little Miss Innocent' you think she is either. Get a grip, will ya?"

I threw some bills on the bar and downed my drink as I strode toward the door. "I don't need this shit. Later, Gator!"

I pulled open the door and ran right into some dude on his way in. "Get the fuck out of my way," I hissed as I tried to push past him. He didn't budge and gave me a shove backwards. "Who the hell do you think you're pushing?" Reaching for my badge, I looked up to see who this smart ass was.

I killed the engine and coasted in, the beast losing its gracefullness as it slowed....Setting it carefully beside the bar I walked past the now familiar black and white parked in front of Teddie's and pulled the door open...

"Get the fuck out of my way," She hissed, as I blocked her exit "Who the hell do you think you're pushing?"

Slapping the badge out of her hand, I again shoved her backwards, pulling the door behind me and lcoking it....

"Rita, Teddies is closed for a while" I instructed, getting a curt nod in reply as she flipped the service sign over and pulled the drapes....

Miranda picked herself off the floor, her face livid with rage as she reached for her pistol.

"You won't have need for that" I told her, kicking it from her grip as I turned, the unholstered weapon flying behind the bar.

"Good to meet you again, Officer" I sneered, taking her numbed hand in mine and twisting the arm behind her "Now lets go talk to your friends, shall we?"

Giving her no chance for remark I propelled her into the back room, Rite close behind as she closed the door.....

Miranda's facaade of anger leaves me sitting at the table dumb founded as she stalks out. "Terri, I'm sorry" I begin and then stop as Miranda's voice rises an octave and increases in volume.

"Get the fuck out of my way" Comes to us from the bar "Who the hell do you think you're pushing?"

Then a sound of a scuffle and more voices, less pronounced and understandable.

"I can't beleive she's arresting someone in the bar" I say quietly as I look towards the door. "She can never leave the cop thing alone, not even when she's with friends"

Realizing what I had blurted out, I look sheepishly towards Terri for her reaction at my accusing words and see her eyes widen in surprise then anger. Her expression's weren't aimed at me I quickly realized as I turned and saw what she looked at.

My own expression mirrored hers as Miranda came into the room with pain and anger on her flushed cheeks and Rick directly behind her.

"No Terri" I exclaimed and grabbing for her, an understanding coming to me as Terri went to aid her partner.

Miranda

http://www.Bibracte.dreamwater.org/ATWAS/demi3a.jpgI shook free of Rick's grasp on my upper arm. "What the hell is going on here?" I demanded. I looked from Greg to Terri and then finally to Smitty. "You know this bastard?"

"We've met before," was her simple reply. Gotta give her credit, she didn't drop her eyes for a second. Everyone always said she had steel underneath that helpless little girl look of hers.

"You guys, too?"

Greg nodded and Terri kind of looked the other way. Bitch! "I thought you were supposed to be my best friend, Terri. Looks like you've screwed me in more ways than one... Or should I say you've screwed Greg and me?"

Greg started to move toward me after pushing Terri back. "Listen, Miranda... This isn't what you think."

"Oh?? Just what is it that I think, Greg?"

"You've changed. I don't know you anymore. None of us do. We... I want you back. The way you used to be."

"What kind of bullshit is this? I don't need you or this crap. I'm outa here." I turned to leave and Daniels grabbed my arm again, pushing me down into a chair. "What the fuck? Who the hell do you think you are?"

Terri.

It was a reaction, thats all, just a reaction.

I saw a fellow police officer in trouble and I reacted. Greg pushed me back and we both watched Rick march Miranda into the back room with Smitty. The door closed tight.

"Terri, settle down. " Greg soothed me. I wasn't mad at him. It was the sight of what happened which had followed the surprised abuse she gave out to me. "Things are coming together. We have her now."

I was part of this. But I was getting nervous about it all. I held onto Greg tightly for reassurance. His soothing grip brought me back to the reality of what was happening.

I heard a few bumps and then screams.....Miranda's screams.
What was happening in that back room?

"Oh no, we got a problem...." Greg looked through the blinds. I ran up behind him and saw the patrol car parked outside on the street. "I thought she wasn't on duty until later?"

"She's not supposed to be." I replied. "We have to get rid of it."

"Smitty"

http://www.Bibracte.dreamwater.org/ATWAS/PhoebeRita.jpgI followed Rick as he propelled Miranda into the back room. He nodded toward the door which I closed and locked behind us. I leaned back against the wall and took it all in.

"What the fuck!" She spun around and faced him defiantly though I could see the question in her eyes. Miranda didn't know what was going on and she didn't like not being fully in control as she normally was.

"Shut up and sit down!" he said, pushing her down into a chair. I thought that she was going to jump up immediately, but Rick had his hand on her shoulder, pressing his thumb in the soft tissue near her collarbone. She winced but said nothing.

I could almost see the gears churning. Miranda was thinking hard and fast. I folded my arms across my chest and waited for the inevitable.

The tone of her voice changed remarkably as she cajoled, "Look, Daniels. Rick. We can work something out here. The money back for the citation and... other things."

Miranda was 'all that' in her micro mini and knew it. She had legs that didn't quit. The kind most guys would die to have wrapped around them. Rick watched her with his steely blue eyes as she stood and walked over to him unbuttoning her blouse on the way.

It trailed off her shoulders to the floor as Miranda's arms snaked around his neck and she pressed against him. He started to laugh, mocking her as he untangled himself from her grasp. "Give it a break, sister," he said in a deadly monotone. "I don't want what you have."

I saw the sparks ignite in Miranda's eyes as she drew back her arm to slap him. She was fast but not fast enough as he caught her hand in his own and squeezed it hard. Hard enough for her to buckle slightly under the pressure, but not enough for her to give in.

"Bastard!" She was not used to not having her own way and I could see the fury building. No one refused Miranda. No one. Well, until now anyway.

Rick stood before her, his face unreadable as a stone. He released his grasp on her hand and Miranda straightened up. Before he could stop her, she had let loose and spit full in his face. With a sweep of his foot, she was down on the floor and I held my breath waiting to see what would happen next. It was going to be a long day.

Rick

Dropping her with a sweeping kick, I straddled her and dropped on her stomach. The air drove from her as I wiped the spittle from my face and smiled at her.

"It's that attitude that has got you in the mess you're in" I said sternly "And why your friends here have asked me to step in"

Her body racked in effort to draw air in her lungs sudddenly became still under me as the words sunk home... "Wh wh what the hell are you talking about?" She coughed out as I stepped off her and offered her my hand up.

Her eyes showed the move before she tried it as I warned her..."We can do this the hard way, or the easy way!"

As she rose so did her free hand, a straight upper cut for my chin...Only it missed as I pulled my head sideways and using her other hand, still in mine pulled her towards my fist to connect with her stomach.

"I was afraid you'd say that" I told her as she bent over from the punch, nearly retching...

"But since you started it that way" I continued, placing my hands on her shoulders and grabbbing the still open blouse. "Lets finish it that way"

With a wrenching effort I tore the fabric off her, revealing her bra clad upper torso. Pulling a knife from my back pocket I flicked te blade open and advanced on her as she straightened up, her eyes going wide at the sight of the shining steel......

Terri.

I managed to get into the patrol car without raising too much suspicion from the public on the street. I had to hot-wire to start it and then glanced over to Teddies before joining the traffic in the street.

"73, you there?" the radio called out to me. I always thought that Frans voice sounded weird on that radio, but now it was a voice I did not want to answer or even hear. "73, come in 73."

I took the car down the street a few blocks and found an alleyway to park down. Checked all about me to see if I was being watched and then abandoned it. I could not resist the temptation of wrenching out the wires to the radio to silence Fran and her voice......"73.....73....come in 73, I know you are around somewhere.....seven....."

Greg followed me in his pickup and we drove back up the street to Teddies. I wondered just what Smitty and Rich had in store to correct Miranda. That scream was a liitle too un-nerving.....

Greg

I followed Terri and casually drifted past the alley where she dumped the car. Seeing a smirk on her face as she hopped into my pickup I asked her. "Private Joke? Or can anyone get in on it?"

"Just did something I always wanted to." She replied with a smile "Seems to be the week for that"

Assuming she meant what had happened between us I nodded and turned the old battered truck around, questioning.

"Back to Teddies? What are we getting ourselves into, Is this going to help Miranda?"

As I voiced my doubts I recalled the last thing I saw as I walked out, Miranda stripped and her wrists bound behind her with her own handcuffs cursing us all as she sat on a wooded stool.

"You Bastards!" Miranda's voice had dripped with scorn "You hire some thug to do this to me? To get WHAT? Revenge? Because you're jealous of what I'll be someday while you both are in a drab little house living on NOWHERE Lane?"

Her words had made me wonder as Terri gently punched me in the arm, reminding me.

"Hey? We're here, Lets get this over with, OK?"

Miranda

http://www.Bibracte.dreamwater.org/ATWAS/demi3a.jpgRick punched me in the gut. Hard. It took my breath and I doubled over for a moment before he yanked me back up.

I was ready again. NO ONE treats me like that and gets away with it. I tensed. Ready to come at him when I saw the glint of a blade in his hand and he was pointing it at me. Holy shit... What now? This guy was just not 'right'.

"Since you started it that way, lets finish it that way," he said. His voice a low menacing purr, like a feral cat.

I tried to stay calm. Think. Think dammit! But there was no time. He had the collar of my blouse bunched up in his hand, holding me as the knife sliced cleanly and deftly through my bra.

I looked down in disbelief. What the hell? A light began to dawn... Oh, I get it. I took a step toward him, lifting my arms to his chest. "You like it rough, baby? You really turn me on, you know."

Without a word, his arm went back and his hand connected with the side of my face sending me reeling. "Shit, man! What's the matter with you??"

"Shut," he paused, looming over me. "Up." The force of his words were like another slap. His fingers wove through my hair, tangling in it as he used it to pull me up again. The blade slashed through my blouse. I held my breath not knowing what he would do next. The man was certifiable. I have to get away. But how?

I had to admit to myself that I was afraid. I'd face ten guns any day before I'd take a chance against a mad man with a blade. I stood still. My mind a whirlwind as he cut through my skirt. "Shit! That cost me $200, you asshole!"

I didn't see his boot come up until it connected with my jaw. Too late... God Miranda. What have you gotten yourself... Everything went black.

Terri.

I entered the back room with Greg behind me. Looking down I saw Miranda out cold on the floor with a slither of blood coming from the corner of her mouth.

"Ay!...What the fuck?" I shouted. Just a reaction again. "Did you do that to her?" I asked Rick, almost spitting the words at him.

"Here we go. Typical. Another cop." Rick replied. I looked round at Smitty who looked mortified, standing arms folded against the wall.

"Look....was there a need to do that? I mean....that is a little over the top don't ya think?"

"Listen up. I was asked to do a favor here OK?" Rick answered.

"Go easy Rick." Greg told him moving by my side. "They are work partners and yes they are both cops. Terri, I think you and I need to go someplace alone for a while."

I was just annoyed about the amount of violence that had taken place. Did Miranda really ask for that to be done to her. I was about to go and see if she needed some kind of first aid, but both Greg and Smitty pulled me back. Rick looked at me with a half evil smile that kind of changed my opinion about him. Then I realised that we all agreed to do this.

"Terri. I think you are due on duty in an hour." Smitty reminded me. I looked down at her halfnaked and unconcious body. Sure something needed to be done with her. Only I wished it was a little more psychological than physical.

Rick

It had gotten out of hand, I realized that later as I looked back.

Her attitude was tough, so tough it needed to be broken and fast...

Kneeling over her unconcious form I began the first step in breaking that kind of attitude, by stripping her completely to the buff.

Looking up I see Terri's face and the disapproval on it.

"Rita, I know you don't understand what I'm doing" I spoke to her over my shoulder as I peeled off Miranda's clothes "But this is for a reason, one all three of you need to understand"

The clothes now a pile of rags, I lift Miranda's limp form into a chair and pull a short cord from my pocket.

"Hold her, So she doesn't fall" I tell Rita, as I tied Miranda's arms behind her.

With Rita's help I quickly tie and gag her, then step back to the door calling for Greg and Terri...

"Hey, Get in here quick! Before Miranda wakes up!" I bark...

Seconds later a grim faced couple come in and I explain the events to come quickly, and thier involvement...

"You need to abuse her, both mentally and physically" I warn them all "But stay honest, or she'll latch on the lies and use that as a defense. There is no defense against the truth"

We take our agreed on positions, mine behind Miranda as I pour a bucket of ice cold water over her head and she sputters into conciousness...

Rita Smithfield

http://www.Bibracte.dreamwater.org/ATWAS/PhoebeRita.jpgMy mind was reeling from the things I had just witnessed. Please, please don't let this have been a mistake I thought to myself, but I knew better. I had read the article in the paper about him. He deprogrammed that kid from Kenshaw. There was a short bio in the article. If he was a froot loop the newspaper would have trashed him. Wouldn't they have?

And so I stand quietly by. Watching. Hoping that Rick is going to help us bring our friend back.

"Hold her so she doesn't fall," Rick says while tying Miranda's hands behind her back and placing a gag in her mouth. Once done, he calls Terri and Greg back into the room.

"What about the cabin you had me get? We can't keep Teddies closed indefinitely," I ask quietly before they return.

He just stares at me with those steely blue/gray eyes of his and nods. "All in good time, Ree. All in good time."

When Terri and Greg come in, Rick tells us what we are to do next. I hold my breath as he dumps ice water over Miranda's head. I close my eyes for a moment as she splutters awake. Please, God. Don't make me go first.

And so it begins...

Terri

"Terri, you are the one she trusts here now." Rick explained to me as she began to pull through, soaked with ice water and spluttering. "You first."

I looked at Greg and he nodded with a smile. "What do I do?" I asked.

Rick put a finger to his lips and silently asked the others to move out of her view. Miranda looked at me and I smiled. She wanted to say something but the gag prevented her. Her eyes beckoned me to set her free as she squirmed in the chair, wrists bound behind her.

"Miranda, look there is a reason why we are doing this to you." I told her. She reacted wildly. "No no no....listen to me, just listen." Her eyes turned to stares like daggers of fire. "Miranda, we are doing this for you. We don't like the way you are right now, any of us here. We are concerned for you." Her foot raised up quickly into my groin and it hurt real bad. She sent me reeling onto my butt, clutching myself. The pain was really bad as I sat there bent forward just holding myself. I looked up at her and noticed she was staring at me.

"Miranda! Why did you do that? Geeeeez that hurt!" I got up onto my feet and walked back over to her. I was mad with her sure, and I just gave her a back hand slap over her face....SLAP....the sound of it resounding in the room.

Her face held in position turned away from me, eyes shut and I noticed tears appearing from her tightly closed lids. I wanted to say I was sorry, but now I had realised what this was all about. Rick's methods were harsh but necessary. She began to whimper.

"Miranda, you have to realise.......realise....."

Rick came over and held me. He prompted me to join the others.

Terri's words were faltering as Miranda's foot caught her in the crotch. Pulling Greg back I shook my head silently as Terri picked herself up from the floor.

The slap echoed in the room, driving Miranda's head sideways with the force of it as Teeri's eyes blazed.

"You have to realise...realise..."She stammered and I stepped in to gently urge her out of the way.

"You have to realise what a BITCH you are and how you've treated your friends so unfairly! Is what she means" I finished for her.

"You're here because your mind is twisted and your reasoning powers are warped" I added on my own as Miranda's eyes bored into me. "The next time you see your friends you'll be talking politely to them"

"Rita, It's your turn. Come over here please and tell Miranda what you think of her lately"
