Political alt-history question: What if Catholicism hadn't come to the US?

The premise is what changes, period.

Explain how and why history is changed.

I already explained at length what would most likely would have happened

The US has never and never will exist in a bubble, if you change a major part of it's freedom of religon.. a major portion of history relating to that will change

for instance... if the anti-catholic stance starts pre-revolutionary period.. the 13 colonies automatically find themselves without french allies.. as Catholicism is the official religon of France and all of it's dominions

this also being said, curtailing the rights of it's catholic citizens will not sit well with the Church or it's allies.. and trade will be extremely restricted.. like what happened with England, their massive push for exploration was built around economic restrictions at home based on it's barring of the Catholic Church

that worked well for England, as they made massive inroads in the New World... aka the 13 colonies for a stellar example

the 13 colonies unfortunately wouldnt be able to do it themselves.. as they would only have their own resources, and no economic allies to help them expand

the pushwards west would have probably stopped at the mid-west.. as the spanish would have taken most of the west coast by the time America had recovered from the American revolution, which they would have had to fight solely by themselves

the english on the other hand would continue their expansion very much as history has already shown us, but probably would have included, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, montanna, North Dakota, and Minnesota to their expansion

whilst the spanish would have claim to pretty much the entire southwest

in the end America does not become the superpower it is now... it certainly would still be a strong nation, and certainly still in the G8.. but not the global giant it is
What about when WWII hits? That was a great opportunity for us, could we still build up a war time industry or better yet not become part of the war, we'd be untouched.

And all the scientists could still come here to escape Nazis, which might still give us the first atom bomb.

Ironically, America would probably enter the war earlier actually.. without the extensive western expansion, the US is even more of a trade dependent nation.. and the conflict in Europe hurts business in a big way

as for the the atom bomb.. if my early projections turned out.. America has no western seaboard and consequently no Pacific theatre to fight in.. they have no reason to develop a bomb to drop on Japan as they dont enter a war with them to start with

the atom bomb is quite possibly developed by the UK.. or even Germany

But they know Germany is trying to build one, and all the scientists would be heading to the US as refuges, which means we get all the brains needed to build it.

Once we have it, we could become a super power... hell we could keep it a secret, send a bomber to Berlin, Tokyo, Moscow, London, Madrid, Paris, etc. drop a single small nuke on each without claiming any responsibility and watch the flames of war grow. When it was over Europe and Asia are in shambles, the US is in a great position to expand as global trader and maybe expand it's land west, south and north even.

So America was a Protestant country from it's founding, both in colonial and post-revolutionary times.

This is a dumbass question because even before there was a country here Catholics settled in Maryland (1634).

Hell, Jamestown was named after King James 1 who's mother was Catholic. This was the same dude that Protestants got pissed at for translating the Bible.

Furthermore, there were Catholics in New York (New Amsterdam) around that same time as well.

Finally, Amerigo Vespucci (the dude whom America is named after) was Catholic.

This is a dumbass question. I don't even know why you bothered.

Obviously, so he could resort to ad hominem attacks before retreating into the sort of debate style most of us left behind when we graduated from grammar school.
