I'm afraid I don't favor monofilament when surfcasting, and I find Sufix braided pales in comparison to Berkshire's Gorilla braid.

It creates many carks to try to do it that way.

p.d. If a line's ever tangled like that, best one can hope is to break off the sticks/brush or sometimes it's better just to break the line, check the length for knicks and if that's good, knot on another clasp and start again.
