POTUS has "Total" Power

B-b-b-but Obama.

JFC.

Obama had executive orders yes but this is not comparable. But we get it, you'll say anything and think anything to excuse this egregious abuse of power.

Your hatred of all things Obama and Democrats is out of hand. It doesn't justify or excuse 45's abuses. For people who yell and complain about the sanctity of the construction, you easily convert it to toilet paper for your convenience.

If Obama had said one tenth of the bullshit that comes out of 45's mouth your heads would have exploded.

He didn't even have the thin cover of the National Emergencies Act.

What's the matter honey?
Don't like being bit on the butt?

Progressive reaction to Pandemic: Trump didn't isolate us soon enough!!!

To keep them safer, we need to release the inmates and detained illegals!

Most health policy wonks will say Trump was late in taking action to protect the USA from the virus.

Economic policy people are already praising the actions of the White House to put the economy in mothballs and actions to keep as many people whole as possible in an unprecedented economic disruption.

Defence experts will talk about how the Chinese Military returned to readiness and took quick action to advance China's geopolitical military position.

The President has many spikes to infect or advance the Country.

But all US Presidents are ultimately Judged at the Ballot Box, a Judgement that is based on (arguably) a more complex set of variables than 1,000 Trysail graphs.

Just ask Jimmy Carter. Or Bush1.

While certain people on this forum cry and scream about "totalitarian leftists," let us reflect on the words of Donald J. Trump today:

As for what happens in states:

"It’s a decision for the president of the United States."

I love seeing mob rule unitary state hyper-authoritarian progs who have been sneering at and shitting on states rights pretty much their entire lives, most recently advocating getting rid of the EC and some even want the Senate gone gone gone, are suddenly screeching for states rights??

What's wrong??? :D

You've been upset he hasn't taken ENOUGH authority over your HC for years now. Ya'lls whole shtick for the last 20+ years has been having the federal government running all HC for everyone.

Now he does it and you're upset? WHY??

Welcome to supporting the EC, Senate, Alabamas right to run Alabama in ways that drive you fucking NUTS.... DJT has turned you into a deplorable by giving you what you wanted. :D Absolutely beautiful Job on his part.

Unfortunately for actual liberals, the Constitution agrees with D. J. Trump.

Article VI, paragraph 2.
This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/articlevi

Which makes sense, otherwise what is the point? A toothless federal government can't maintain a union. It has to be supreme.

But this is also why the federal government should be chained to a fucking wall and with very short chains.

It shouldn't be doing healthcare, education, gun control, wealth redistribution etc.

I hope DJT has taught you something about the value of states rights and you think about the other edge of the sword the next time you're cheering the federal government to take over entire aspects of society or segments of the economy.

I don't know if it is irony as much as hypocrisy (at least the first part)
because for years after his election, the ObamaNation was still
blaming their lackluster economy on Bush. There was no
criticism of Obama allowed without mentioning Bush.

It is exactly the same, your partisanship is the only difference here.

But we get it, you'll say anything and think anything to excuse this egregious abuse of power.

How is this an abuse of power??

For people who yell and complain about the sanctity of the construction, you easily convert it to toilet paper for your convenience.
.

LOL....omg the ignorance this morning is fucking delicious.

Article VI, paragraph 2.....woopsie. ;)

When I initially began talking about government overreach
and the potential for economic disaster by acting blindly, in a panic,
I had no friends in this Carnal crowd, in fact the general reaction
was negativity to my skepticism, the denial label, accusations of
thinking (as they wrongly accused Trump of) the virus was a hoax
and being lumped in with all the people that they wanted to go out,
contract the virus, with a subliminal subtext of "I hope you die."

I also got lectured about "Science" from people with no "Science"
credentials or degree and when I talked about my Science education,
then I was informed that anyone can claim anything on the internet.

Well, Progressives, your chickens are coming home to roost.
You got your man-made disaster, you got your chance to
blame Trump for the Pandemic and you managed to put a
lot of mom and pops out of business and now hospitals
and medical practices are going under because they
prepared for The Chicken Little scenario...

So, really, maybe you should shut the fuck up and start listening
instead of lecturing and ascribing by "class"
instead of crying hysterically, in a panic about
GOVERMENT OVERREACH!

You triggered,bro? :)

...

Only those with 20-20 hindsight.
Even Fauci was saying, yeah, fly to the Super Bowl, it's safe.

This was based on information out of Red China and the WHO.
We now know the former was lying and the latter was ignoring
free China because of Chinese influence in the third world...

So, it is fair to say he was slow to act after the fact,
but, at the time, at the actual time, if he would have acted
you should have had the same hysteria as demonstrated in the OP;
they knew it, they knew it all along, President Trump wants to be a Dictator!

Hell, when he did act by stopping flights from China he was called a xenophobe.
Democrats, and let's start with Pelosi, were saying that Trump was an idiot
and they were going to defy him and stay open for business as usual.

They were all Brutus in the moment and then all
ambition should have been made of sterner stuff
after the fact...

Hypocrites driven by hoped-for political gain
at the ballot box that you also mentioned.

That statement is right out of the media playbook. While Trump was taking action the media and the democrats were assailing him as being "racist." He acted far earlier and more decisively than Soy Boy.

By the time WHO actually got around to admitting that the virus was spreading (Jan. 20th) it was already here. On Jan. 29th the Covid Task Force was formed and on the 30th travel from China was shut down.

It is clear that by the time any one had a handle on what was happening it was already too late to prevent the virus from arriving in the US.

Most of the bitching I hear comes from people who live in places that barely have an economy in the first place. Which is probably why they think this shutdown is a hoax. They wouldn’t know there’s a problem one way or the other.

I live on an island visited by 2.75 million vacationers a year. I don’t want a bunch of infected people spreading their spit around here!

Not only that, but we didn't shut down Europe soon enough.
It would have resulted in the same hypocritical consternation.

Of course, it's just about attacking Obama - it always has been to you racist POS's. That's all it's ever been. And then you whine about being "labeled" racists. Regardless that you did it to yourself and it is no "label". It is who you are.

No one forces you to be subhuman - you do it on your own and it has nothing to do with your color or ethnic group.

I'll give you one shot: give me an example of Obama trying to claim he had total authority. Bonus if you can name people he fired because they performed oversight which got him in hot water.

You idiots rationalized him saying the virus was a democratic hoax, you excused him when he left the governors to fight and compete for emergency stockpiles, you shrug off nepotism and cronyism as if it is some bizarro world swamp draining (Jared can fix it, he fixes everything!) and now he can claim total authority and all you clowns can do is say "it's Obama's fault!"

Really?

Your post is a good source of irony. Liam

Ken your time would be better spent growing more tomatoes. I know you think you're trying to be funny and cutting but all you really are is pathetic. How many identities does someone need on a forum? So far you're up to how many? One for every year on average?

Perhaps you can ask that same question to your buddies kicking up a stink in this thread - they can't seem to come up with a collective answer among them as they all can't seem to keep just one user ID.

Self control - it's not just a nebulous concept meant to be applied to poor people, women and non white folks.

It goes with the job description that everything he does or doesn't do will be critiqued by his political opposition.

Trump is judged and challenged daily on all fronts, so what? Stop whining about it.

His real Judgement comes in November, unless he finds a way to pussy out.

I predict 4 moar years, but my point is he probably DOES have "total power" to decide when and how the USA handles this mess.

It's what's expected of a US President when the shit comes in and only a dreamer would say the present Supreme Court would say othwerwise.

Watching this unfold is interesting to say the least and there are some serious implications for this nation going forward.

The way the fight is unfolding is whether the president or the various governors/mayors have precedence regarding shut down orders etc. I think the argument should be reframed to "do any of them have the authority to suspend the Constitution?"

So far a fearful populace has been cowed into subservience and fear is a powerful tool to use to cow a citizenry. So far it's been effective. Short of a formal declaration of war I can find no such sanction of these powers anywhere in the Constitution.

I, and others, have continually warned the leftists of the danger of their supporting their chosen politicians of in the pursuit of extra-constitutional powers. That eventually a politician not of their choosing would be in a position to wield those same powers. The decision we as a nation make going forward couldn't be clearer. It's not which politician we are going to allow to use those powers, it's are we going to allow ANY politician to use those powers?

As I have been saying for years - You Trumpers are all afraid and need a big daddy to make you feel safe so of course this is the lens through which you see current events. And it explains why you felt compelled to elect this idiot and bully of a POTUS while you all are feeling so impotent.

Normal people are aware of what a pandemic is, understand what it means to a population and have been deciding for our and our family's and friends safety to choose to shelter in place, follow the CDC guidelines and will continue to do so until such time as it is appropriate not to. Supporting a governor with common sense behaviors for general health and welfare is not a suspension of constitutional authority nor evidence of a population being cowed. If YOU feel cowed, don't externalize it on the rational ones in the herd.

As far as your extra-constitutional powers diatribe it has been the Congress ceding its constitutional power for the last sixty years under the influence of corporate greed and as IKE said in 1961 the "military industrial complex" that has gotten us here and not "the left". To offer that up as an argument shows your lack of knowledge of history and lack of appreciation of the meaning of events you lived through yourself.

The right always does this horse shit. They create a make believe 'crisis' and then you so-called conservatives give away your rights and blame someone else. The Patriot Act is a perfect fucking example. What is it going to be this time?

Trump on inauguration day.
"Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning. Because today we are not merely transferring power from one Administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People."

I don't think you have to worry about any visitors for a couple of years brah.

Uh, Adrina, sweetie,

I'm not attacking Obama.
I'm attacking you and the people like you
who just fucking loved his abuse of executive power
when you approved of it; if anything, it's not my racism (I'm not white)
but it's you approval of affirmative action in action. A black president acted
unconstitutionally in the name of innocent brown people...

Something he could not get through Congress
and something he kept saying he could not do
until he was cynically free from ballot-box repercussion.

Lance, not the antipathy, derision, hate and ascription
aimed at people they simply disagree with-
their basketful of deplorables.

And they wonder why they lost the 2006 election...

^^ Big time supporter of federal supremacy and openly supported federal authority to be in control of his HC for years now.

Having a change of heart about states rights and the federal authority to control your HC???:D

Well there you are, Squanto finally came clean and admitted he is attacking people he disagrees with. He who accuses everyone and his brother of ad hominem response. GB’s most prominent hypocrite!
