Torsten crossly arched an eyebrow as Vanessa turned to leave after her presumptive command. Perhaps, he thought, it was time to check that behavior.
Now that Vanessa had left, Torsten switched to his hunter mode. Walking around the area for fifteen minutes, he sized up the various groups of people that were around and those that seemed to lead those groups.
Picking the largest group Torsten approached the leader. "Tell Gabby I want to see her."
The man in the middle of the group looked at him through drug hazed eyes and said, "Why should I?"
No one saw him move, the only evidence that he had was the three ringing sounds of knuckles crashing into flesh and bone, as the man dropped into a heap at Torsten's feet. "If you don't go get her, then I will kill you and everyone of your friends here, and that will bring her as surely as anything else."
There was a deadly certainty to Torsten's voice, those around them encouraging "Jan" to go get Gabby. Slowly Jan stood up, his cracked ribs not aiding the process and said, "I'll get her. Where do you want to meet her?"
Torsten laughed, saying, "Here amongst the twenty or so insurance policies around me."
It was 29 minutes after Vanessa's departure when Torsten heard Gabby say in a low growl, "Let them go."
