Republicans are unlikely to jump ship so early on a state worth 16 Electoral College votes, and they are still organizing in Michigan.

The campaign continues to deploy door-knocking volunteers during the pandemic, dispatch top administration officials (including the attorney general and the secretary of energy this month) and advertise digitally on Facebook.


But the reality is that Trump has far more pathways to 270 electoral votes without Michigan than Biden does.

The Trump campaign has been redirecting money to defend other, more conservative states that he won in 2016, like Ohio and Georgia, and to try to find new Democratic states to flip, such as Nevada and Minnesota.

You have lefties, righties, and people who swing either way depending on how life is treating them right now and/or what's been promised. Right now, the swingers are seeing a pandemic and civil unrest not disappearing like Trump said they would. They were promised economic booms and greatness, and instead they've got global disaster.

Moderates on both sides are going to be turned off by sending federal troops against civilians and talk of delaying democracy.

He lost a lot of military, vets and patriots when he failed to react to Putin's bounty. It was a dumb move not to at least sound angry.

He's worried. He fired his campaign manager with only months to go... You don't fire someone if you feel like the campaign is going well. And this talk of election delays is an act of desperation that's backfired and made him look like he doesn't respect democracy.

His big talent for swaying crowds is now useless. People are wary of packing into stadiums, and the resultant outbreaks look like a judgement. His Twitter spurts just don't get to crowd cheering.

They are both very bad choices. People are waking up to the fact that Democrats/Liberals/Leftists/Socialists/Anarchists should not be governing the USA. They have zero record for the past four years. They made a concerted effort to destroy Donald Trump (which the Republicans also did to Barack Obama). But when they couldn't destroy him, they destroyed the country, and that's unforgivable. Mr. Biden is mentally un-fit. He owns a 40 year legacy of failure. He's corrupt. If he choses Kamala Harris as running mate (the real President), that's not going to help him. When Mr. Trump ties Democratic policy and leadership to the current unrest, it will resonate with people. Plus, people are unlikely to change during a crisis. They'll stick with the devil they know. That's my opinion. I wish there were someone else.

All Biden needs to do is win Michigan (that’s all but accomplished), Pennsylvania (he looks very strong there), and Wisconsin (his chances are good). That’s it. The rest is baked in completely. Trump’s base will not grow larger. He is not going to find new states to win. No magical thinking will change this simple formula.

Dear Tiegersman, rioting, intersectional bigotry and communism just aren't as popular in the US as you wish they were.

Took a four-hour road trip in Michigan today, pretty much rural area. During the last 45 minutes of my trip, I started paying attention to the election signs in people's yards. Saw probably 25 Trump-Pence signs. Not one Biden sign. Tons of various local election signs. I did see one Biden sign in the big city (first one I've ever seen) but saw a Trump sign, too.

This is what it was like in Michigan in 2016 ... tons of Trump signs, no Hillary signs.
