Princess Who?
A Twisted Fairytale
Written by Saedo and PrincessSexci

Once upon a time there was a princess, a very curious princess. She was much too curious for her own good, in fact. Princess Madeline was a very inquistive princess even from the day she was born. She eventually grew to be the most beautiful of girls in the land with dark hair and brown eyes. She always got everything she'd ever wanted. However, her curiosity never ceased.

One day, Princess Madeline had been wandering through the forest when she saw a little cottage. She'd never seen the cottage before in her life. Curious to see what she'd seen, Madeline slowly walked towards the cottage and opened the door. It was unlocked! How strange!

"Hello? Anyone here?" She called

"Hello, come in child!" An old woman said. The old woman had warts, was fat and hideously ugly.

"I uh...I've never seen you before. Are you new here?" She asked

"Hmm..." The old woman looked her over and tilted her head. "You are the princess, yes?"

"Yes." the Madeline said with a bright smile. She hadn't thought anyone would recognize her in her civilian clothes.

"Ah but who could not recognize such a beautiful girl?" the woman said as if she'd heard the girls thoughts.

"What are you doing?" Madeline asked, stepping closer to the woman who was sewing. Was she sewing?

"I am sewing, dear princess! Would you like to try?" the old woman asked, grinning almost evily, but not quite.

"I ah, I really don't know. I would rather not mess up your beautiful works!" Madeline gave a nervous giggle.

"Oh, whats the harm in trying? Besides, I can always start all over again. Go ahead, try it." She said, pushing the girl down. "Go ahead.." the woman prompted.

Madeline bit her lip and began sewing. It seemed like she was getting the hang of it! "Look, look I'm sewing!" She said to the old woman, not really paying much attention to where the needle went. She hardly noticed that the woman was muttering something under her breath until it was too late.

"OUCH!" Madeline screamed

The woman laughed evily, "Oh did you hurt yourself? You poor poor girl! I should have mentioned that the needle you are using is cursed. You are going to fall into a deep sleep..." the woman spoke in a soft hypnotic voice, "and when you wake, you will no longer remember your name, let alone your past. You will be as common as any other peasant.." Evil laughter filled the cottage.

The old woman had been a witch, one whom despised the queen and king of Alain. She had been right as well because the princess had woken up in a state of confusion at a palace far from where she had originated from with no memory of anything.

Her name had been changed to Madi.

Prince Philip strode the castle in his typical long-limbed gait. Today was a potentially momentous day. He was to meet his bride-to-be.

Technically it was his second bride-to-be. When he was but a child, the kingdoms of Corwin (Philip's home) and Alain had negotiated a permanent accord to be sealed with the marriage of the two royal families. King Hubert (ruler of Alain) had an infant daughter named Madeline who would be married to Philip following her 18th birthday.

Naturally Philip had cared nothing about the agreement at the time since marriage seemed rather uninteresting to his three-year-old mind. He'd thought little of Madeline in the intervening years. The two capitol cities were a considerable distance apart and required an arduous journey through a dark (and rumored to be haunted) forest. Consequently, he and Madeline never met during their childhood.

As Madeline's 18th birthday approached, Philip found himself initially relucatant at the prospect of marriage. Barely in his 20s himself, he enjoyed a carefree life of hunting, drinking, and carousing. Spending the rest of his life with some strange woman sounded rather dismal.

However, he had become cautiously optimistic as he heard more about his intended. Princess Madeline had been rather sheltered from the public due to threat made against her life. (An old woman, rumored by many to be a powerful witch, had sworn to take vengeance on King Hubert through his daughter.) So while details on the Princess were somewhat scarce, they uniformly reported that Madeline had flowered into a tremendous beauty. While such hearsay is always of uncertain accuracy, the consistency of her reported loveliness, and particularly the almost cartoonish curves ascribed to her, set his own libido aquiver.

Alas, Prince Philip never got to find out whether the Madeline was truly as impressive a figure as described. An armed escort was dispatched to escort Madeline from her homeland to his castle. But when his guards arrived, they found King Hubert and all his subjects in a panic. Madeline had gone on a walk in a secure area of the forest near the castle, but had disappeared. All of Alain sought throughout the kingdom for her for weeks, but no trace of her was ever found. Rumors held that the witch who had threatened Madeline's father all those years before had finally enacted her revenge, but even she could not be found to offer any information. With nothing but mystery left behind, eventually everyone concluded that Madeline was forever lost.

Having lost his bride-to-be, Prince Philip enjoyed another year of bachelorhood. But Alain was not the only nearby kingdom with young princesses in need of husband. So it came to pass that Prince Philip was now betrothed to Princess Kathryn of Taragon. He was slightly less enthused by her description since it incorporated few superlatives. Still, she at least existed, having safely made the journey to Corwin last night. Today would be the first time he laid eyes upon her.

Philip's reverie was interrupted as he rounded a corner. There he found one of the maids struggling to move a heavy oak table by herself so she could clean the floors beneath it. Her back was to him, so he couldn't tell who it was, not that he knew all his servants by name to begin with.

Still, he was feeling magnanimous. "Excuse me, " he interjected, "would you like some help? "

Madi had been in the castle of Corwin for as long as she could remember and she didn't remember much. One of the maids had said they'd found her in the forest by herself and took her in, feeling sorry for her. She wished she could remember her past though. It was like her whole life had been missing. It was not a very pleasant feeling.

Though at night when she slept, she dreamed of a far away land north of Corwin. She saw the faces of two royals who seemed familiar but she couldn't name them, didn't know who they were. It all seemed so familiar yet, when she awakened...she couldn't recall what she'd dreamed about but that sadness of missing something lingered on.

Tying her long brown hair up in a messy bun, Madi proceeded to do her chores. Today, she was to mop beneath the tables in library. Why they'd given her this job, she wasn't sure. She couldn't move it to save her life!

"Grrr...come on, stupid table. MOVE!!!" She said, struggling to pull it forward with all her might. Why hadn't anyone come up to help her?! Madi hated being a maid. This was one of the reasons. "COME ON!" She all but screamed as she pulled and pulled and pulled.

"Excuse me, " a voice interjected, "would you like some help? ".

"Oh no, I am as strong as the knights of the round table!" Madi snapped, sarcastically; not so much angry at the voice but more so angry at the chore she was given. "What do you think?!" her voice trailed off as she whirled around.

Madi's eyes widened at her tone and to whom she was speaking to. For a moment, she just stood there...still. Her hand flew to her mouth to cover her gasp. She swallowed hard before falling to the ground to pay her respects to the prince, "I--I'm so terribly sorry, your highness. I --I had no idea, twas you who offered."

Please don't kill me, please don't kill me! She thought, not having risen yet.

Philip raised an eyebrow as the maid threw a biting retort over her shoulder. Clearly she thought him some other servant to address him so rudely. She was reckless to be so hostile to someone unseen.

He was somewhat mollified by her reaction of embarrassment tinged with fear. Some nobles would have ordered such rudeness, however unintentional, to be punished with a painful flogging, so she had good reason for concern.

Philip found his initial irritation sapped by her obsequious expression. He was also admittedly rather persuaded by her beauty. Philip had no little practice at evaluating the female form, so with some self-confidence, he believed he had found a diamond in the rough.

Very rough it was, though. Her lovely face was red from her struggles with the table and a black streak of grime ran along her left cheek. Her brown hair had a nice sheen to it, but it lay heaped in a chaotic bird's nest behind her head. Her bosom swelled nicely with each breath, but was draped in a most unappealing grey fabric stained with dirt. Philip expected she might be a statuesque sight were she not so bedraggled and filthy.

Swayed by this appeal, he bent nearly double, bringing his face within inches of hers. Her eyes were still downcast in submission.

"Look at me," he commanded. She glanced up, starting slightly as she realized how close he was.
"I am Prince Philip, but I believe you know that already. " She nodded, so he continued. "I do not have the same privilege. Tell me your name."

"Madi," she whispered.

He nodded and straightened up. "Madi. I shall remember that." He turned his attention back to her. "I should tell you, Madi, it is not often one of my servants responds to me as you did."

He could see her unease and the sheer adorability of it made him lose his stern composure. Chuckling, he added, "Fortunately, I too know the frustration of working with uncooperative heavy objects and shall take no offense."

Smiling at her now, he extended a hand to help her back to her feet. "Now, how about I lend you a hand with this table? "

"I do not have the same privilege. Tell me your name."

"Madi, your highness..." she whispered, lowering her eyes submissively. She still felt embarassed, no ashamed at how she spoke to the prince. If the head maid had heard her words...

No! She couldn't think of such things. She was prepared though to take her punishment, though. It wasn't her fault however, she'd never been so close to the prince, let alone having the privilege to speak with him.

"Madi. I shall remember that." He turned his attention back to her. "I should tell you, Madi, it is not often one of my servants responds to me as you did."

Madi looked down once more, showing her shame quite clearly. "I apologize, your highness! I had no idea twas you. If I had of..."

"Fortunately, I too know the frustration of working with uncooperative heavy objects and shall take no offense."

The tinkle of Madi's giggle rang throughout the library then she quickly cleared her throat, composing herself. "Thank you, your highness!" She said, slowly standing back up and brushing off her already dirty peasant dress.

"Now, how about I lend you a hand with this table? "

"I ah..." Were princes allowed to help servants? Surely, they were! He was a prince after all and this was his castle, still...she'd never heard of any other royalty offering to help a mere servant such as herself. "If you wish..." she whispered, then blew a strand of dark hair out of her eyes that had escaped her messy bun.

She moved around to the other side of the table then waited for the prince to help. He certainly was handsome! Dark brown hair, blue eyes, a nice strong chin and muscled features. It made her wish she were a princess and able to marry someone as handsome as he.

Philip gripped the edge of the table with his hands. With his broad shoulders and muscular build, he estimated that he could brute force the table on his own. Still, letting Madi help would provide more stability and like as not this table was a valuable antique. Plus, standing opposite her gave him further excuse to look at her.

"Ready?" he inquired. Seeing her nod, he counted down. "3, 2,1, lift! "

The table was still rather heavy, but they maneuvered it out of the way with relative ease. Letting her assist proved a wise move indeed. As Madi hefted the table, she thrust her chest forward. Philip could tell he had underestimated just how prodigious her bosom was as the twin globes struggled against the confines of her dress. He glanced away before his member began straining to break free of its own fabric prison. How had he never noticed her before.

The table in its temporary location, Philip turned to Madi and smiled. "There we go." He paused, hoping for additional words, but could think of nothing more to say. She needed to return to her bucket and scrub brush and he had a princess to meet. "Well, I must be going, " he at last offered, wishing desperately that he had greater cause to linger.

She smiled at him as he turned to go. That brief expression nearly stopped him in his tracks. For a woman he'd barely met, he found her immensely compelling. Unquestionably it was physical, but there was something more to it that. He had to see her again.

By the time he turned the next corner, he'd already decided how. He would speak to Hawkins, the Head Steward, and have Madi reassigned to the royal residence wing. As the one in charge of the day-to-day requirements of the castle, Hawkins would be able to shuffle the staff.

Madi would benefit from such a shift. Servants in the residence wore dress uniforms and did not engage in heavy manual labor. Madi would no longer scrub floors, but tidy up after royals and assist as needed.

Philip imagined Madi would cut a striking figure in the nicer uniform. Plus, with her working in the residence every day, he was guaranteed to cross paths with her again. Yes, he would like that. He would like that very much.

"Well, I must be going, "

Madi smiled at him as he turned to leave, wanting desperately to call him back. However, she knew the rules well. Royalty and servants were not to mingle. She silently chastised herself for even accepting his help. If anyone found out... she shook the thought from her head. Impossible!

Madi spent the next few hours scrubbing the dirt off the floors. It shouldn't have taken as long as it had but, the prince's smile lingered in her brain. Princess Katherine was a lucky woman to marry such handsome man. Why couldn't she erase him from her brain?

Just as she'd finished cleaning the floor in the library and forcing herself to move the table back in it's place. Hawkins became extremely perturbed if things were not put back in their place. He seemed to live for serving the royals of the house. It was his life!

Then she'd moved on to clean the other floors in the house. She'd began day dreaming again of a life much more extravagant than the one she had. In daydream, she lived in her own castle with her own servants. She wouldn't treat them with disrespect though. No, she'd help them just as Prince Phillip had done with her. She'd have a prince of her own and...

A lazy, dreamy smile crossed her features. "MADI!"

Madi whirled around, squealing. "Yes?" She managed a little nervous smile to the head servants wife, Mrs. Hawkins. The Hawkins had taken her in and had been so generous towards Madi when they'd found her. Mister and Misses Hawkins were like a second mother to Madi, especially since she couldn't remember from whence she came.

"Day dreaming, again lass?" Mrs. Hawkins shook her head, "If my husband saw you doing such things...." the older woman sighed and shook her head, "You know how seriously he takes his job."

"I-I know ma'am. I'm so sorry! It won't happen again."

Mrs. Hawkins brushed her apology off. "Go help out in the kitchen."

"But I haven't--"

"Don't worry, I'll finish up here. The kitchen servants need extra hands, the prince's betrothal is comin. After all, this is his second betrothal, we can't afford to lose another one..."

It was another reminder of how silly her day dreams were.

"Yes, ma'am." Madi said then scurried off to the kitchen.

Philip's concern over the lack of superlatives for Princess Kathryn proved justified. His latest bride-to-be proved to be rather uninspiring on a host of fronts. She rather quiet and unengaging. Her red-tinged hair lay straight and unassuming. Her plain face was pleasant enough to look upon, he supposed, but only just.

Her figure, however, was almost too much (or perhaps too little) to tolerate. Philip's preferences leaned decidedly towards more womanly forms, particularly given his rather vigorous approach in the bedroom. Kathryn's lay in quite the other direction. She could quite positively be described as slender, though "little more than skin and bones" seemed almost appropriate. Her hips flared so little as to almost be boyish and her chest seemed no fuller than a girl of 12 than a woman of 21.

The only consolation offered him came from his uncle, Lord Thomas. "Well, she's a bit skinny now, but just you wait till you get your first child in her. Why your Aunt Mary, Heaven rest her soul, swelled up like a ripe peach with our first." Thomas made a curving motion with both hands to emphasize his point.

Philip sighed. Given the descriptions of Princess Madeline, this seemed quite the second-choice indeed. Still, there was no help for it. Princes must marry princesses, after all.

Still, he was not yet a married man yet. The official betrothal would be announced in seven days. Since the announcement would be part of a grand banquet, sufficient time had to be allotted for the more far-flung nobles to arrive at the palace. (Given the fate that had befallen Madeline, Prince Philip's father was taking great pains to assure that no one was offended for lack of an invitation.) So while he was all-but-officially betrothed, he could still count himself free for a little while longer.

That did not excuse him from all royal obligations. Tonight Princess Kathryn was dining with his father's chief advisors and some of his closest friends in the nobility - a gathering of a few dozen. Naturally Philip would have to attend.

Fortunately, all was not lost. Philip looked up to see Madi, the servant he had met earlier, assisting one of the other waiters with a tureen of soup. He was gratified to see that she did indeed look rather lovely now that she had washed the grime from her hands and eyes. She had also exchanged her rough work clothes for a more presentable maid's outfit. The dress suited her, showing a hint of luscious leg as well as far better highlighting her curves.

He sipped the warm broth carefully and eyed her retreating figure. Perhaps tonight might have more in store than he had anticipated.

Once Madi had stepped into the kitchen, some of the kitchen maids scrunched up their faces at her dress. "Come along, Madi. We must get you changed. You cannot serve royalty dressed like...that." Hawkins said, eying her distastefully. "My goodness, you look just as bad as the day you came to us. From now on, you will work as a resident servant; cleaning the rooms, dusting, serving in the kitchen. Understood? " Hawkins said and Madi nodded, wondering why her station had moved up, not that she was ungrateful.

She hurried to the servants quarters to bathe and get dressed in her new plain blue and white servants uniform. It fit her form well. She loved it despite the fact that many of the women wore the same clothes as she! It was definitely an upgrade. The dress went down to a little past her knees and hugged her form nicely but not in a provocative way. She pulled her hair down out of it's messy bun, knowing appearances mattered to the King and Queen, whether a kitchen maid or royal servant.

She ran her hands through her hair and then stepped out of the servants quarters and rushed back to the kitchen. She was directed to help serve the food, instead of helping in the kitchen. The cook didn't want her to botch up the food, especially with such an important guest arriving. Princess Kathyrn.

As soon as it was time for dinner, they'd handed her a turn of soup and ordered to begin serving the King, Queen, Prince and their guests. She felt the prince's eyes on her as she placed the soup in front of him and then the next few guests on the side she was serving; one of them included the princess who wore extravagant clothing. The princess wore a bright emerald green dress with a large jewl in the center of her cleavage. It would have looked bedazzling, had she any curves of her own.

Madi did not say this, of course! In fact, it almost seemed like the princess was bored with the whole dinner party, itself. She hadn't noticed the envious look the princess gave her as the prince eyed her as he did.

She curtsied to the prince and princess, "Would you like some more wine your highness' ?" She asked, not looking either in the eye. Twas a disrespectful thing to do when in the presence of royalty.

The dinner had gone tolerably for Prince Philip. Seated across from his bride-to-be, he made some attempts at small talk. Kathryn proved a rather uninspiring dinner companion. The entire situation seemed to bore her.

To be charitable, he even tried flirting with her. This produced barely a rise out of her. Bad enough that she appeared barely old enough to bed, but she showed no more interest in romance with him than she did her salad. Yet she was to be mother to his children?

The one saving grace for him was Madi. Even in servants' garb, she projected beauty and grace. Would that Princess Kathryn showed a quarter of the pleasure found in one of Madi's shy smiles. Silk and lace seemed wasted on Kathryn's spare frame with a woman like Madi nearby.

As the last of dinner was cleared, Philip was pleased to see Madi approach. The serving girl curtseyed and offered then more wine.

"No," declared Kathryn. "I have had quite enough already. It is time I was in bed."

Philip raised an eyebrow. Kathryn had barely imbibed a single glass. If she was similarly moderate in all things, she was dull indeed. Still, wanting to make nice, he declined as well.

He offered to escort Kathryn to her room, but she politely refused, implying it might be inappropriate since they were not wed. Philip restrained his irritation. Though he was not particularly eager to feel her skinny frame beneath his, she seemed even less interested. This did not bode well for the wedding night.

He bid her good night and found himself at last alone. He also sincerely wished for a drink. Turning, he spotted Madi on her was back to the kitchen. A dozen swift strides brought him beside her, whereupon he grasped her arm near the elbow to gain her attention.

"Madi, I have changed my mind. Would you please bring a bottle of port to my chambers? "

As both the princess and prince declined another glass of wine, Madi continued down the table to offer other nobility wine. Some of them refused, some of them had a bit too much to drink and began making grotesque comments on how she could serve them elsewhere. However, the king reprimanded the nobles and reminded them of her station. He also made a commented on if they wanted a 'common whore' they could dally in the pub in town.

Madi shuddered at the mere thought of one of them even trying to debauch her. As the dinner party began to dwindle down, Madi began clearing the table, taking plates and glasses back to the kitchen when she was approached by Prince Phillip.

He'd suddenly had a change of heart and wanted some wine taken to his quarters.

"Of course, your highness. I shall be up there, shortly." She curtsied low and hurried into the kitchen to grab a bottle of wine, explaining to Hawkins that Prince Phillip had requested it.

In moments time, she was standing in front of the prince's quarters. She swallowed hard, having never been inside the prince's room. Then again, she probably would still never be inside of his room. He'd only asked for some wine. He'd probably shoo her away at once.

Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door and waited, pursing her lips nervously.

Philip had barely entered his quarters when he heard a knock at the door. Opening it, he found Madi standing outside. "Please come in," he directed. The young woman hesitated slightly, but then followed him inside.

"I will take it by the fireplace." The castle was often chilly at night this time of year, so a sizable fire had been stoked in the hearth. Before it stood a pair of soft chairs separated by a small table.

Madi set the bottle of port on the table. Her job complete, she looked around uncertainly, then started to take her leave.

"Please," Philip interrupted, "stay a while longer. I would speak to you. Please, sit down."

Madi appeared confused, but sat down in one of the chairs. She had never even exchanged a greeting with the Prince till this morning and now he was holding private conversations with her. A most unusual day.

Philip stepped over from a cupboard and set down two crystal glasses. Opening the bottle of port, he poured a generous quantity of the deep red liquid into one glass. "I prefer not to drink alone," he said. "Would you share a toast with me?"

Philip could see had thoroughly perplexed her. Sharing a drink with a royal would ordinarily be seen as quite presumptuous. But he had invited her, so perhaps the greater faux pas would be to refuse. After furrowing her delicate brow a moment, she nodded.

Philip handed her the glass and then poured a second for himself. "To our health and prosperity! " he declared. "May we all find happiness in this world! " He tipped his head back and drank deeply of the sweet, heavy wine. Madi followed suit.

Philip refilled his glass and did likewise for Madi. "Now," he announced, "my reason for detaining you." He strode to a side table and retrieved a package wrapped in brown paper and tied with twine. He handed it to her. "Open it," he instructed, taking the chair opposite hers.

Madi, looking thoroughly upended by these strange events, untied the twine and folded back the paper to reveal a dark gray silk dress with white apron and stockings. She recognized it immediately as the uniform of the upstairs maids, who tended chiefly to the needs of the royal family. It was a highly prized position for any female servant. She looked up at the Prince quizically.

"After meeting you today, I felt your talents were wasted as a scrubber of floors. As you demonstrated at dinner tonight, you have a grace and beauty about you that commends you to higher things. You have the presence and intelligence to work directly with the Royal Family, I believe.

"I spoke with Mr. Hawkins about reassigning you, but he wasn't sure you would want such a demanding position. So I thought I would put it to you and see whether you were up for the challenge. And what better way to get a feel for the job than to try the uniform.

"Would you like to try it on? I had to guess at your size, so it might be a little tight. You may change over there." Philip pointed to a set of screens in one corner.

Madi stood outside of the door way as it slowly opened. When he told her to come in, she hesitated. He couldn't have been serious. Was this even permitted? She quickly reminded herself that she was nothing more than a mere servant. If the prince deemed it so, then it was allowed.

Slowly, she stepped inside the room. Madi flicked her eyes over the prince's quarters. It was so...very large, perfect for royalty. It was nothing like the small rooms that Mister and Missus Hawkins had in their tiny little cottage.

"Wow..." she murmured, softly as Prince Phillip poured himself a drink. He then offered her one and again, her eyes crinkled up in confusion before accepting the glass he'd offered her. She watched as he gulped down the wine after making a short toast and she followed suit.

He refilled her glass and it happened just as she was about to decline. She couldn't say no to the prince though. Then he handed her a brown envelope and encouraged her to open it.

It was a direct statement from Mister Hawkins on her change of station from mere servant to royal attendant. She looked up at him with a curious gaze, "What does this all...I mean," She stammered, Madi had assumed she would just be serving in the kitchen until the princess left.

You may change over there."

Madi blushed furiously and nodded, hesitantly taking the dress from his clutches. Why would someone such as the prince worry about her station in the castle? Surely he had much more to worry about then a servant girl scrubbing the floors.

She walked behind the changing screen and stepped out of her blue and white peasant dress and stared at the dress that his highness had given her. The silhoutte of her form was seen through the changing screen, though merely a shadow.

Slowly, she began dressing in the overly tight dress. Once finished she stepped from behind the changing screen and curtsied, "Thank you, your highness. You are a very generous man and I shall be in your debt always." Came her soft, submissive voice.

The dress hugged her body fully. It didn't take imagination to wonder how the curve of her rear or the swells of her breasts would look without the dress.

Philip could not quite restrain a smile as he gazed at Madi. He had done a rather masterful job of selecting a dress just a hair too small for her. The skirt was a bit too short for her height, showing a rather risque bit of slender thigh above her white stockings. The top was also equally snug, showing a rather indelicate amount of decolletage.

He could feel the blood pooling towards his groin. Madi had been rather striking in her poor servant's dress. Now attired in something not covered in dust and cobwebs, she was truly a sight to behold. His lust stirred, the prospect of a new conquest proving quite a powerful lure.

"Yes, I do think that outfit suits you far better. You are a woman of grace and beauty. Having you scrubbing floors on your knees is assuredly a waste of your gifts."
His lustful mind suggested some alternative activities that she could perform on her knees, but he waved those away for the moment. Now was not yet the time. Not yet.

"Still, before I decide, I should get to know you a little. Please, sit down." She sat opposite him in the chair again, the too-small skirt climbing well up her thighs despite her efforts to tug it down. He refilled her drink; a little libation could do wonders in loosening up a person.

"It occurs to me that you are a rather recent addition to the castle staff. Most of our servants have been here since I was a boy, but you are far more new to the life. Tell me of your history. Where does your family hail from? How did you come to work for Mr. Hawkins?"

The prince continued staring at her only this time he was smiling. Why? She couldn't for the life of her figure it out. Perhaps he was pleased with her new change in station. It couldn't have been lustful thoughts, such things were forbidden. She'd been told this many times before by the Hawkins.

However, that didn't stop his lustful gaze as he made comments about how she was suited other types of work she could be doing. Mattie swallowed hard and slowly sat down when he asked her to do so.

Then he made comments on not knowing whom she was which could only hint that she hadn't been there for most of her life. Mattie lowered her eyes as he asked her from where she hailed from.

Clearing her throat, she spoke still not making eye contact, "I ...do not know your highness. From what Mister and Missus Hawkins have told me, I was found in the forest not too far from here lying unconcious. Before that point, I do not remember where I come from or even whom I am. I do not even know if Mattie is my real name or not..."

"Really?" responded Philip. "I had no idea. You have no recollection whatsoever? Such a sad tale. "

Philip leaned across the the short distance between them and took her hand. He sensed her tense up for a moment, but she offered no further objection as he rubbed the back of her hand in a comforting manner.

"Hmm," he mused as he held her. "Your hands are rather soft and delicate. You've some calluses, but they are recent. See how light they are compared to mine?" He held up his other hand for her to see, the thickened pads of his palm easy to see. "This reflects years of daily practice with sword, shield, and lance. You are clearly much newer to heavy labor."

He looked at her curiously. "I wonder what sort of life you led before you lost your memory." He leaned in further and cupped her face in his hand. "You are strikingly beautiful and of age. If you were no one's servant, perhaps you were some man's wife? I should think a woman such as you would be sorely missed. "

"How could you know?" She asked, then quickly added, "your highness. Not many nobles, let alone royalty sits around chatting in a friendly manner with a servant such as myself?" She was becoming too familiar with him already. She lowered her eyes just as he'd grasped her hand. Her body tensed quickly because what royal lineage would grasp a servants, dirty dingy hand?

Obviously, the prince. Mattie visibly relaxed as she told herself that there was nothing to worry about.

As Prince Phillip pointed out the differences between his hand and hers, she frowned. He did indeed have a point. In fact, before she'd come here her skin had been soft as silk.

"A husband, your highness?" She blushed, "Oh no, I highly doubt I have a husband. There is no ring on my finger." She held her hand out, "If I were to be married, would I not have some sort of symbol that I am indeed married?"

"Possibly, but not necessarily. Perhaps you had a ring but lost it along with your memory." Philip shrugged.

"Of course," he continued, "perhaps you were a different sort of servant. Not all such positions involve such manual labor. Stand up."

Madi did as he commanded. Philip stepped to her and placed his hand on her shoulder, directing her to spin in place till her back was to him. Keeping one hand on her shoulder, he gathered up her thick locks and lifted it away from her neck. "The kingdom of Hallam to the east employ many young girls as 'comfort women'. Such females are generally marked with a small tattoo, often at the back of the neck." He drew his finger along the back of her neck, admiring its slender grace. "You, however, are unmarked."

Standing behind her, Philip could feel the warmth of her body through her thin maid's outfit. Her work in the kitchen tonight left her smelling faintly of spices and smoke. He felt his hunger for her rise.

"Of course, a less common position for the mark is in a more private area, more easily concealed. " He let his hand drop from her shoulder and slid it along her side down past her waist. The soft fabric of her short skirt beneath his fingertips, he squeezed her thigh gently. "Tell me, Madi, do you have a tattoo down here? Perhaps I should check to be sure.... "

Madi looked confused but did so anyways. Curious thoughts ran through her mind. What other positions were there for servants aside from cleaning and cooking? As her thoughts ran rampant, he had guided her to turn so that her back was facing him, she did that as well awaiting to see what would happen next.

Madi bit her lip, she couldn't recall having any sort of tattoo on her neck but then she couldn't remember anything about her past. Madi shivered and swallowed hard as his finger trailed down her back.

"You, however, are unmarked."

"I--I am? "She whispered, hoarsely before the prince continued. His hand trailed from her shoulder down to her waist until it reached her thigh and then he squeezed, causing her to gasp sharply. Her whole body felt..weird, tingly and goosebumps grazed her arms.

"Of course, a less common position for the mark is in a more private area, more easily concealed. Tell me, Madi, do you have a tattoo down here? Perhaps I should check to be sure.... " "

"I--I do not recall any tattoo down there, your highness. " Came Madi's weak voice. "Surely, I would have seen it when I changed into this...charming new uniform you've given me.."

Madi was attempting to say no to the prince but in the most respectable of ways. Slowly, almost hesitantly she moved out of the prince's reach, if only for the moment. In response Madi replied, "P-perhaps...I was not a servant at all. Perhaps, I came from someone of nobility? Perhaps, there was an accident and on my way to another town, the carriage tipped over and I no longer remember?"

Philip could feel the tension in her limbs as he stood close to her. To have his royal presence so close unnerved her somewhat. But beneath that fear, he could sense her excitement. Part of her enjoyed the sensation he inspired. He smiled, eager at the thought of feeling her give way before him.

He hid his displeasure as she shied away. She had awoken a considerable hunger in his belly and he was not eager to delay his satisfaction.

"You suggest you might have a trace of nobility in your veins?" Philip inquired with raised eyebrow. "Such is a bold supposition to make. Elevating yourself above your station is not a thing to speak of lightly."

He stepped close to her. She stepped back instinctively, but he followed suit till she backed into the wall. He leaned in till his face was but inches from hers. "You are of rare beauty, but such is hardly the exclusive provnc of the royal houses. Just compare yourself to my soon-to-be bride, " He smiled, amused at this jest.

"So lest I insult some nobleman's daughter by putting you to labor upon your knees, tell me, why should I presume your dream of being a lost child of privilege is anything more than a wishful thinking?"

At his words, Madi turned pale as she stepped back, he only stepping closer towards her pushing her against the wall. She swallowed hard, blowing a strand of dark hair out of her face. She averted her eyes at his last words. Were they just wishful thoughts? Most likely. However, now that she'd spoken them, there was no way to take them back.

"I just.. " she stammered, "What I mean to say is... " She looked away, not really having an answer at the moment.

"Twas only a suggestion, your highness. I meant no offense to you. " She whispered, softly. "Although, I never said I was of royal blood; just perhaps the daughter of a nobleman which is no higher than one such as yourself or your....charming bride to be. "

She took another pause to take a deep breath before continuing, "A girl such as myself could never assume she were of royal bloodlines. Tis a sure dream indeed! But also, a girl such as myself could only make assumptions as to what her past may be, especially if she has no memory, right? I have no proof of where I may come from, but I can assure you I was not a ....slave of that nature. " She said boldly.

Madi finally lifted her eyes to meet his, showing no hesitancy in her decision, just confidence.

Philip smirked at her words. "'Charming' is perhaps the word for her. She is tolerable enough, I suppose, but the thought of being wed to her does little to excite me. She doesn't appeal to me the way that..., " he trailed off, his gaze lingering on her. "... that others do," he ultimately concluded.

"Still, it is odd you mention the notion of being lost. Did you know I was once engaged before? Few speak of it now, given the circumstances. She disappeared one day shortly before she was to travel here for our wedding. All very mysterious, I assure you. They searched for her for weeks, but found no trace. Probably dead or turned to stone or something equally horrible.

Philip stood back from Madi, his eyes tilted back in remembrance. When he at last returned to the present, he smiled softly at her. "My apologies. I ordinarily do not get maudlin about such things. I just haven't thought of her in quite some time. "

He fetched his glass and drank deeply of the dark liquid. "I never met her, actually. But she did send me a letter before we were engaged. Something about her words stirred my blood in a manner I've not felt since. I realize our betrothal was purely a political arrangement, but I think she would have been very special to me." Philip stared quietly into his cup, lost once more in thought.

Madi swallowed hard, lowering her eyes once more as his gaze lingered on hers evermore. She pursed her lips, feeling highly uncomfortable with this situation. She knew that she should excuse herself. He had his drink and there was no need for her to stay as she had drank with him, verily so. Yet, still she stayed.

"Others, your highness?"

He finally stood back giving her room to breathe. Again, Madi should have felt some comfort for that motion, yet felt saddened by it. Twas silly, because as she found she had to constantly remind herself. He was a prince and she was not more than just a humble servant, there to do his bidding.

When he stopped speaking suddenly, Madi realized he was in a moment of reverence. "Your highness?" She questioned, giving him a look of concern. Now was the time, it appeared that he should be alone. He looked so sad, so incomplete.

"My apologies. I ordinarily do not get maudlin about such things. I just haven't thought of her in quite some time. "

"No, tis okay. I assume you have not had a proper moment to...mourn your loss. Had you met her before, your highness? " She asked in a curious manner.

"I never met her, actually. But she did send me a letter before we were engaged. Something about her words stirred my blood in a manner I've not felt since. I realize our betrothal was purely a political arrangement, but I think she would have been very special to me."

Suddenly without any warnings, she heard a strange voice. The one she'd only heard in her dreams.

Sticks n stones may break may spit me
but Needles and thread
bring you to bed, evermore
where your world is no more inviting

Her gaze had turned from attentive to..almost a glazed manner. She blinked a few times, realizing that she had dazed out some. "I..apologize your highness. I must have...dazed out." She lowered her eyes, again feeling a tad bit embarassed. She grabbed the bottle of wine and pursed her lips. "I should probably take this back to the kitchen. I am probably sorely missed. If..that is to your liking, of course your highness. "

Philip closed his hand around the neck of the bottle. "If you feel you must go, then let me not detain you."

Madi released her grip on the bottle and retreated from the room, curtseying deferentially. Philip frowned slightly, but could not fault her entirely. His earlier burst of mischevious lust for the luscious maid had been replaced by melancholy at the memory of his lost fiancee. He gave brief thought to seeking carnal distraction from his malaise, but his libido was no longer willing. He held up the bottle, the dark contents still half-full. At least he had the oblivion of drink.

Philip dreamed fitfully that night and was therefore in an ill mood when the light from the windows streamed across his face. He grumbled menacingly as he propped his torso upright, the rumpled bed sheet sliding off his bare chest.

His gaze fell upon Madi, who turned at his mumbled curses against the morning light. "My apologies, Your Highness, but your father The King was rather insistent that you be awakened."

Philip muttered another oath. His head ached from last night's drink and he was in no mood for more pre-wedding social events that today would no doubt entail.

Still, there were worse things to awaken to. Madi had cleaned up and now wore her hair down as befit a servant in the royal quarters. Her long locks seemed to sparkle as the sun caught their highlights.

Soon Philip felt more than his mind awaken. Madi cut as delightful a figure in her maid's outfit as ever. His cravings returning, Philip's cock slithered down his thigh as it stiffened beneath the bed sheets. "Yes, Madi, " he grinned. "A pleasant morning to you as well."

As Madi waited for an answer, she felt the bottle in her hand being tugged at by the prince. She swallowed hard and let the prince have it. It was apparent that he would be mourning this night. She felt somewhat bad that the subject of his lost bride had been brought up.

"If you feel you must go, then let me not detain you."

Madi hesitated, feeling that the turn of subjects had been her fault. Had she not brought up her hopes of being of nobility, then mayhap they would not be in this situation. "Yes, your highness. Good evening and may you sleep well.." she whispered, bowing her head before departing.

Madi did not sleep as well as the prince however. Those dreams seemed to plague her even more so. This time, her dreams consisted of being in a cottage..with an old woman. She was telling Madi that she could sew, to but try it out...

She was awakened however by Mister Hawkins who told her it was time to wake the prince. His father wanted to see him. Quickly, she obeyed getting dressed in the tight uniform he'd given her the night before. She hurried to his bedroom and opened the curtain with a loud swish.

The groan from the prince could be heard and once more, she felt bad for waking him so. "My apologies, Your Highness, but your father The King was rather insistent that you be awakened."

As he took a long look at her, Madi felt herself blush and look away. It was rather obvious that the prince was attracted to her in such a way that was not befitting; the proof was the bulge beneath the covers. She swallowed hard and forced herself to look up at him. This was her job, to serve the prince.

"S-Shall I fetch your clothes for you, your highness?" She asked.
