Today is August 1, 2021.
If you refer back to my first post on this thread, today is 40 years since MTV played their first video with The Buggles’ Video Killed the Radio Star.
That’s today.
So I have been saving my first music themed assignment for today. Because music is important.
To my sanity.
I’m not going to lie. I type on my iPad. I’ve my digital material on my iPhone, so this will take a couple of edits.
Back in 1981 things were much different. People got their music from the radio. We had to get the dial just right to get our favorite stations. As Steely Dan said, no static at all. And if we found a radio station we liked, we generally lived there.
People would call the radio station and request songs they wanted to hear. That’s the way it worked. And you hoped that the DJ or producer would put it on.
It was the era of DJs. Wolfman Jack, Casey Kasem, Rick Dees, and the weekly top 40. WKRP was a hit and people just wanted to be entertained. Disco was dying, punk was making a splash, and we were starting to experience hip hop. John Lennon had been shot a year prior and Led Zeppelin were no longer a band.
Today, if somebody wants to hear a song, they go to Spotify or Apple Music or YouTube. We stream and stream and have complete control over the music we hear on a daily basis.
Seems that every single person who has worked for me the past few years is a musician and is releasing music. We no longer need to know how to play an instrument to make music.
And it’s okay.
I’ll be your DJ through this. I’ll edit with an intro and look for you to post the song you want to add to the Lit playlist. Of course this is a picture forum, so let’s get creative with the songs we want to hear.
Again, you can make multiple requests. Link to YouTube and we will see how this goes.

Alright, I know I’m not a professor (or even want to be one), and I’m also not as handsome or beardy as MG (swoon), but I kinda want this thread to live again… so here we are.
I think we should do assignments weekly and if anyone has a great idea for an assignment, pm me (or maybe MG?)!
This week I want you thinking about things that help you feel recharged and renewed. Post a pic of a calming feeling. Capture your serenity. Give us a look at one of your favorite things to do - is it a physical activity? A food you love? Tell us your story of how you revive yourself after a long day or week.
You may answer this assignment as many times as you like.

Would love to participate in this thread, but I need some advice.
My personal photos are all on a iPad. When i try and upload it says the file is too big. First question, is there a way to shrink files on an iPad?
If not then is there an App that can do that? I know of PhotoShop and Aperture on the old Mac’s, but I‘m an exclusive Ipad user now.
Thanks in advance for any help and hope to see some great photos going forward!

When you go to upload you should had a choice to change the image size. It is after you select the photo and before it is uploaded. See if there is something that says view selected photo then you can probably change the size.
You could also use a photo hosting site. image works well. You upload the photos and get s link to post then folks can just click the link. The photos will also show up as a thumbnail on the thread so people can see them before they click.

Thanks Photog1rl! Let me try a couple of images first (they probably wont have anything in common) and see if i can swing it.
I was hoping to just be able to do it through the Pad instead of Imagur so It will just post. If that makes sense!

OK, I feel like an idiot. The sizing was right at the bottom. Haven’t even paid attention to it.

Now, how do I turn the image? I’ve tried every button. I guess I could go into Photo’s and edit it there like I do pix I copy, but the image is right side up full size.

It’s no lavender bathtub, but it was definitely serene.
There’s something to be said for a beautiful hike in the woods. This one leads to a beach that is well known for being covered in sand dollars when the tide is low. It’s one of the favourites I found this past year.
