I'd like to use the attached pic in my profile and have tried making it smaller but I have to make it really tiny in order to stick to the kb limit. Could anyone explain how to edit it so that I can upload it to my profile please?

Thankyou :rose:

There doesn't appear to be an image attached, but you should be able to use a simple photo editor like Irfanview to do resize the image so it comes in at an acceptable size.

If I had a brain I'd be dangerous

Hopefully this one's attached. I have adobe photoshop but I have to make it much smaller than other people's profile pics in order for it to be the right file size so I'm obviously missing something.

Hello Victoria:

It seems that the image was scaned with a high resolution, if scaned for that it might be better to do it on a 72 dpi setting this way you can resize the photo easer, as it says for the profile pic:

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 250 by 250 pixels or 29.3 KB (whichever is smaller).

I know I could manipulate it a bit but getting the Kb right might work as well, you may try this as it is set for 29 Kb.

Hope it works for you.

If you reduce the number of colours, that will cut your kb down.
This one is at 256 but you could play around with it in p/shop to get the look you like.

I don't have Photoshop on this computer, but IIRC, when you use the Save As... option, you can reduce the size/quality of an image until it meets Lit's requirements. Sometimes saving images as gifs and reducing the quality a bit has helped me make the requirement as well.

QreeSRdr is correct, Irfanview makes resizing to fit both pixel and filesize limits a matter of mere seconds.

Photoshop, otoh, makes setting the JPeg Quality (compression) a major production and you have to deal with resizing the canvas as well as the image. Producing the right sized image can be done with Photoshop, but IMHO it can be done faster, easier, and more precisely with almost any other image editor.

Thanks for all your help. I haven't heard of the two other programs mentioned. Are they abbreviations or perhaps called something different in the UK? I'm gradually getting the hang of photoshop but if it's not the best program maybe I should save myself the time and invest in another one?

It's only too big because your face is blurred out.

Irfanview is the name of a freeware image management program. It can be downloaded from most shareware sites, but it's homepage is www.irfanview.com

Thanks hon. These are pics I had done just under a year ago for an escort agency. Need to do some more soon cos I'm sorting out my own website. Have no technological aptitude whatsoever so have hired a pet geek.
