The doctor sighed, frowning as he noticed Dareth's disappearance. He then turned to the two women with him and shrugged. "Come along then. We must follow Mr. Dareth's instructions, if any of us are to survive."
He then turned on his heel and headed down the path Dareth had indicated, shining his light to and fro.
Unbeknownst to the others, though, the doctor slipped his hand into his coat pocket and felt the reassuring coldness of his weapon. He smiled.
Let them come, he thought. I will show them the folly of accosting their betters...
Crying out more in indignation than pain, Rupert hurles Calandrow off of him.
Getting up onto his knees, Rupert is further infuriated as, again, the headless man attacks, this time attacking the back of his head and neck with some well aimed blows.
Again and again, the blows rain down almost making Rupert topple over.
"Huuh! Heaaddllleess mmaann iiisss strrronng!"
Briing his feet forward so that he is now resting on his heels, Rupert springs forward, carrying Calandrow with him.
"But Rrrruppperttt issss sstrronnnger!"
Running at full pelt now carrying the headless man before him, Rupert crashes headlong into the side of the coach, smashing it into pieces.
It would seem that Rupert is a bit stronger than me. It would also seem that Rupert has broken the side of the coach with my body. I get back up, almost like a vampire rising from its grave, (you know, like that scene from the matrix, where Neo knocks down the agent, and he gets back up like a lever, standing up straight, and all). I hadn't had a challenge like this in a long time, it was the most fun i've had in years. I grab Rupert, and powerbomb him back into the coach. Before he jumps back out, I take off my vest, and it starts to change shape. The vest becomes longer, and thickens, (its not what your thinking), and becomes a long sword. It was as dark as shadow, and could cut anything that was stronger than steel. It could also become stronger by absorbing the energy from a fight, or battle. I hold my sword steady as Rupert prepares to jump back out of the carriage.
Rupert backs away as Calandrow moves forward, brandishing his new sword.
Away from the broken coach, the pair start to circle each other wearily, as if they are two gladiators from ancient Rome.
Green sweat is pouring off Rupert's body as he looks at Calandrow. He wants to attack, smash the bad man but something, some instinct tells him that this new thing the man has could hurt him, hurt him bad.
Still they circle.
Then he freezes.
He senses another danger.
Slowly turning his attention away from Calandrow, the green hulk looks around.
He sees shadows were moving all round them.
Then he hears growling as they start to advance on the pair.
Wait a minute, this didn't seem like a fair fight, since I had a weapon, but he didn't. Noticeing a large branch upahead, I cut it off the dark tree. Seeing that the branch came from a tree of evil, it was stronger than most metals. It would make for a perfect club. I toss the club over to Rupert, I could tell he was skilled with blunt objects. The club started to turn green. The reason for the colour change, was unexpected.
I turn around, senseing something. A large beast attempts to leap at Rupert. I backfist it in the throat, sending it sprawling toward the dirt road. I understood that the dogs of darkness were on my side, but I didn't want them to interfere. This was between me, and Rupert.
I was inside what seemed to be my sister's forcefield. It was my sister's forcefield, I recognized the energy signature. I didn't let my mortal feelings let my guard, but I did listen to what my sister said. I was listening to my sister while pointing my sword at Rupert, and his new green club. I was also aware of the demon dogs attempting to break the forcefield. I wanted to tell her I understood, but how. I using my spare hand I touched my sister's face, and patted it twice, letting her know I loved her because she was still my sister. I motion for her to get back in the carriage, I had business to settle with Rupert. I think she knew that, and I think she also knew that none of the passengers lives will be spared, except hers.
From the safety of the trees, Dareth had been watching with glee to the scene unfolding between Calandrow/Rupert and the Shadow Beasts.
It has been a long time since he has seen anyone been ripped to shreds.
However, as soon as Humes' daughter got involved, then his enjoyment turned to concerned.
Why could not she stay out of it?
However as much he would like them all torn to pieces, he knows that the Master would be most displeased if anything happens to the girl.
With another silent curse, he brings his fingers to his lips and starts emitting short, sharp whistles.
(OCC: Please note that Dareth controls the pack leader in the same way a shepherd controls his sheepdog.)
At first, the pack does not respond, such is their bloodlust. But after a few attempts, the pack leader halts their attack though Dareth can tell it is not happy about it. He can still sense the bloodlust and knows that unless he gives them another target, they will attack again.
A thought strikes him.
The Doctor! Why not?
Why not indeed? Dareth has already sensed that there is something that does not ring true about the man for him to just be a simple practitioner of medicine.
This should prove entertaining and possibly even educational.
A smile forming on his lips, Dareth brings fingers back to his lips and whistles his instructions.
Like well trained sheepdogs, the pack then turn and start up the path in pursuit of their new prey.
The doctor watched as the pack of black creatures surround him. They snarl in hate and rage, ready to tear into his flesh and rend his bones asunder. The man in the brown suit merely smiled at them, before bowing his head and chuckling.
"Foolish creatures... you dare challenge me?" Logging's voice had changed. It no longer held the mirth and friendlyness it used to; instead, it was cold and full of confident malevolence. It was like ice water trickling down your back.
The shadow creatures were taken aback a bit, but soon they shook their surprise off and began to close in on the still figure. Dr. Loggings then raised up his head, and all saw that his eyes were glowing a cold, feral green.
Standing up to his full height, he grinned and then spoke in a cool, sneering voice. "I am The Master, and you will obey me!"
The shadow creatures suddenly froze as the Time Lord's powerful mind seized their own.
OOC: Sorry for adding the Doctor Who thing, but I just couldn't help myself. If you guys don't like it, feel free to delete it.
My sister was gone. I turn my full attention to Rupert, and lift my sword in the air. I then send the sword crashing down, attempting a overhead slash. Rupert blocks with his club. I do it again, Rupert blocks again, and pushes forward. Forceing me to step back, I could tell he was very skilled with blunt weapons. I pause for a moment, holding my sword in steady, preapared for an attack.
I study Rupert's movement carefully. Which was easy, since he wasn't moving at all. He wasn't fighting any more. Where was the fun in that? Disgusted at Ruperts so called, 'goodness', I wave goodbye, and dissapear. I was in a shadow, invisible to everyones view. Too bad for me since a I couldn't kill anyone while I was invisible. Rupert was also confused by my dissapearance, but he did keep the club. He better keep it, or his head will roll when we meet again.
(1) Dareth isn't on the coach. He is hiding in the woods.
(2) The coach isn't going anywhere. It was smashed up during Calandrow and Rupert's fight.
Incidentally Rupert is slow-witted (takes after me), so it takes more than a couple of blowes on his club to provoke him. If Calandrow want to get him angry, cut him or attack someone he cares about.
The Master lauged at Shirlene, seemingly unimpressed with her display. "Pathetic ape; I have no time to waste on you. I am after much bigger game."
With a signal to his new puppets, several of the shadows began to attack Shirlene.
The Master, meanwhile, threw away his eyeglasses and wig, not needing the disguise any longer. He turned to the remaining shadows and smiled. "Alright, my pawns. I seek something, it is bright as the stars, yet its light does not hurt you. It is shaped like a box, about man height and made of the purest black stone. Find it for me."
The creatures growled and bowed before running off into the night in search of their master's quarry.
"Oh, one other thing," said the Master. "Find that annoying worm, Dareth, and bring me his mangled corpse."
The Time Lord smiled before running off into the night.
OOC: Although I liked the Delgado and Ainley Masters, my fave is the "pizza face" master from Baker's Era. That guy was creepy!
As for my favorite Doctor, it's Sylvester McCoy, Doc #7! Gotta love that Scottish RRRRRR!!!
