Pure Moonlight (closed)

"I'm just as worried about Norr. But you're right, as usual," Ghell muttered, wrapping his arms about Katina's waist. Their love had always been quiet and slow, never in a hurry to prove themselves or try to be perfect.

"I'm always right." She said with a laugh as she kissed her mate, nuzzling against his fur with a content sigh. "That's a lesson that you learned very well a long time ago."

It had started out with a love for Telma. The little girl had charmed her future father and Katina had seen the possibilities with the dear wolf that she loved more than life itself.

"Well clearly I still haven't taken it to heart," Ghell grinned at her kiss. "But despite how stubborn I am, I'm not too proud to admit I love you more than anything in this world."

"I never get tired of hearing that." Katina said with a smile, brightening up as he husband told her that he loved her more than anything in the world.

"Good, because it's all I've got," Ghell chuckled and swept her into a little waltz to whatever tune was in his head. He tended to do that whenever he was in a good mood and things began to look up.

Katina laughed brightly as her mate waltzed her around the house. Telma heard her mother's laughter and grinned, glancing towards Ruben as they both watched Mako work while Selena and Kreston went to visit the keep. Mako was a blur of energy, incredibly patient and hard working.

"It seems like everything is looking up." Telma said with a kiss to her mate's cheek.

"It had to eventually," Ruben reasoned even though he was relieved himself. He always tried to be the reasonable one. "But it's good to see everyone able to smile again," he added quietly with a smile of his own. "Your sister's lucky, you know. Wolves like Mariko are hard to find, and they offer once-in-a-lifetime chances that no one else would ever be able to pull off. Not even Vincenzo could hope to help what Mariko fixes."

"She's a good cub. She deserves all of the chances that she can get in life." Telma said softly as she leaned against Ruben's side. "And maybe she will learn that she doesn't have to be so shy anymore. I know some wolves never outgrow that phase, but she could make someone very happy some day. Very soon, I hope."

"She'll find her way." Ruben nuzzled her cheek lightly and kissed her. "I'm sure once she's able to run again, she'll open up enough to meet someone."

"I'm glad that I found you." Telma murmured softly as Tuben nuzzled against her. "Even if I was just a star struck toddler when we first met. You have always been the greatest friend that I've ever known. You gave me beautiful Cubs and a lovely little home."

"It was worth waiting for you," he murmured in return. "Even now that I'm an old man according to your brother and my sister."

"You've always been an old man, Ru." Telma said with a laugh. "You have the oldest soul that I know beside my Da. You're steadfast and calm, though."

"That's all Ma's doing. Maybe tempered a little bit by Dad," Ruben kissed her just as the tiny sound of Katya whimpering, slight as it was, caught his ear. He sighed, stepping toward the quiet bedroom. "I blame the twins on you," he murmured with a smile back to Telma.

"You had a hand in those cubs, Ruben." Telma said, chuckling as he went to get their daughter.

Once the little white cub was brought outside, she calmed. She was dry and content as Ruben held her in his arms, staring up at him with those startling cub blue eyes. Her Dad was the most important person in her world and she let him know when little coos and smiles.

"She will be a daddy's girl." Telma said, kissing their cub's tiny brow. "She lights up when she is around you."

"Well, her brother calms down most easily with you. But I'm sure we can still share." He nuzzled little Katya, chuckling when her natural reaction was to nuzzle him back. "That's my girl," he murmured.

"She already adores you." Telma murmured as Katya nuzzled back against her father, squeaking gently as he loved on her. "Maybe as much as I adore you too."

"You know... Much as I love her, I think we ought to trade off with Ma soon, seeing as we're looking after Mako today. She and Dad could handle the twins and Mako together if we wanted a day to ourselves soon," Ruben suggested softly.

"We could curl up in bed and sleep." Telma said with a sigh as she remembered the carefree days that she use to have to Ruben before the cubs were born. "You, me, and a leisurely afternoon with nothing to do and without little cubs to deal with."

"Sleep sounds just as good as anything else we could do in bed, if not better," Ruben chuckled. Timmal was fairly nocturnal half the time while Katya was starting to be able to sleep most of the night.

"Maybe we could go to the loch too. Just a chance to get away and enjoy the afternoon. I can make us a picnic." Telma suggested, already starting to plan their little day together.

"It might be a little while until then, but it'll be soon," Ruben kissed her before settling in a chair with Katya.

When Arin was tucked back into bed, slumbering after a dose of herbs and Timmal and Katya were dosing with their parents in the shaded garden, Mako found himself alone with Ghell. The little cub struggled to sit patiently and learn, but it was clear that he wanted to run.

Ghell paused in his work and gave Mako a smile, and leaned down to whisper, "I'll race you to the market, cub." Ghell knew he probably wouldn't beat Mako, but it was a good distance and it'd work some of that energy out.

Mako's bright gaze turned excited as he nodded, his tail swishing back and forth as he went to tell Ruben. He tugged on his brother's sleeve, waking him up without disturbing Katya or Timmal.

"Please? Ru?" Mako asked, pointing towards Ghell. "We go to town."

"You don't have to ask me if you're going with Ghell, little cub," Ruben chuckled softly, smoothing back Mako's fur. "Go ahead."
