"Ah, that does make sense," Volgo nodded. Kreston's side of the family knew enough about her own to understand any old problems about Tamblin, but they had never asked for details.

"I know he was a broken man, but it all still haunts me." Selena said as Volgo seemed to understand what she was saying. "I want them all to have the things that I never had. Everyone deserves to have a loving family and I feel terrible that I kept Ruben away from Kreston for so long."

"Your circumstances were very different with Ruben, dear. Kreston was indecisive and you were afraid but independent. It's worked out for the best now, though."

"I know, but you and Dayja missed a lot of years with him. He was half grown by the time you got to meet him. He was a lovely little child, a mixture of Mako and Luna. He was so curious about everything around him in surprised that he wasn't he one that became a healer." Selena said with a soft smile towards her father in law.

"I still wonder how he ended up so decisive and serious. I know he takes after you, but I'd have thought he would've gotten a little bit of mischief from his father." Volgo chuckled to himself.

"He has worked his entire life to take care of me. In case something bad were to happen, he has always wanted to be the one to give me a rest." Selena admitted. "He still thinks that way."
