Question about revising a story.....

Let's say I've written a story which has been posted. As I'm re-reading the story, I notice a couple of typos I missed while proofing. I know I can submit the story to Lit. again, putting "Revised" at the end of the title. However, what I cannot figure out is how to get the original text back into the Literotica blank white box on the submissions page. (assuming I typed the text in that box initially) Cut and paste on my computer will not function when the story is brought up. And if I attempt to save it in a folder in My Documents, all that is saved is the banner on the bottom, no text!! There must be some way of getting the posted story back in that box without having to start from scratch and type the entire thing in again. I have AOL 9.0 and Windows XP, if that would be helpful to know. Thanks in advance to anyone who could help me with this problem.

If you have Windows XP, you also have Wordpad.

Open Wordpad and start a new document.

Open your story with your AOL browser -- or open with AOL's use IE option.

Click on the first character of your story; hit <END> to go to the bottom of the page; hold down the shift key and click on the last character of your story -- that should select the text of your story.

Pres Ctrl-C to copy the text to the Windows Clipbaord; switch windows to your new Worpad Document and pres CTRL-V to paste the text into WordPad.

Make your corrections in WordPad and save the document.

In your browser window, go to your submission page and fill out the title and other information.

In WordPad, press CTRL-A and CTRL-C to select and copy the revised text to the windows clipboard.

Click in the text box of the submissions page to position the cursor, and press CTRL-V to paste the revised text.

Click preview to ensure the paste operation didn't mess up your formatting and paragraph breaks and then click submit when you're satisfied with the result.

PS: the steps above should work with any text eidtor or word processing program -- NotePad or MS Word will work as well as WordPad does; I just used WordPad because it comes with all versions of Windows newer than version 3.1

Thanks, but unfortunately....

I never saved the initial story to AOL, so can't open it in AOL. You see, I just typed the story in the submissions box, thinking it was OK, then pressed submit. The next time I saw the story, it was in Literotica format. Now, do you see my dilemma?

Yes, I saw your dlemma the firs time -- you cn cut and paste from the literotica format to wordpad by following the step I outlined.

Open the posted version of you story, select the text, copy it, and paste it into whatever program or page you wish.

You could just open the posted version in one window of your browser and the submission page in the other and C&P directly from the posted version to the submission form, but that puts you in the same position you're in now with no archive copy if something happens to the posted copy.

Just by way of demonstration, the first ouple of paragraphs from your latest story: (C&P directly from the Literotica format open in another window. The C&P into the text box of the reply form lost the Italics in your note, but otherwise it's exactly as posted.)

Note: This submission has only the suggestion of sex and contains a Christian religious theme. If that isn't your cup of tea, please do not vote or comment on this story....thank you.

Scott Hanson's foot pressed down on the accelerator as his blood pressure went through the roof. His Toyota Camry careened madly along the side streets leading to the Mill Street Bridge. Just an hour before, he had gotten home unexpectedly early, and found his wife in bed with another man. Everything happened so fast he only had a glimpse of the hapless guy as he leaped into his pants. Scott ran out of the house so fast, he knocked over his 12 year old son, who was returning from a swim meet. Ignoring his wife's shouts from the window to stop, he jumped into the car and shot out of the driveway so fast a rain of pebbles pelted the mailbox.

At first, Scott chain smoked cigarettes as he drove wildly in no particular direction. He had a wonderful marriage with two lovely children and had no idea his wife had been carrying on behind his back. Their sex life wasn't great, but it was far from awful. Over the last 16 years, Scott had been a faithful husband and had lovingly cared for his children. So why was his wife kicking him in the balls now?

must be doing it wrong....

Not working for this computer novice. When I try to put the cursor ANYWHERE on the Literotica text, it doesn't "register" or show as a cursor. Even if I click where I think the unseen cursor is, then use end and go to the last word of the story, absolutely nothing happens. I can use ctrl C and Ctrl V to my heart's content, and the Notepad page continues to be blank, (The cursor does stay on the Notepad page, however, flicking at the beginning) I'll keep trying....

Thanks anyway, Sack

I did it!

I was using alt instead of ctr, what an idiot. Ironically, your demonstration story was the one I was trying to revise. I would appreciate it if you would read either version (the differences are minor) and vote/comment, if you feel so moved!

Thanks very much for your help,
