Question and Comments for the Moderators:

I don't want to go to FAQ. I'll bet that 500 character limit is killing you isn't it :D By the way, you don't have to hit back space-try opening the pic to a new window instead-so how do you see every attachment ever posted-that may make indexing really fast if I can get 'em all at once :) Okay, I have to go cover myself in chocolate now

ahhh...ok. that is very helpful! thank you Lee! :D

as for how to view all your attachments:

go to your control panel and there should be an option that says Attachments. click on that and it will give you a list of all of the attachments you've ever posted. the names of them and what thread they were posted in and the date and all. you can even delete them from there :)

and here's what it says in the FAQ about the enhanced mode:

There are two modes available: normal and enhanced mode.

When using normal mode, pressing a button will pop-up a dialog for you to fill with text. It will then enter the text with the appropriate vB Code tags at the end of your message.

When using enhanced mode, pressing a button will insert the appropriate STARTING tag for the code, leaving you to enter text into the message area. When you have finished the text and want to close the tag, simply press the Close Current Tag button (alt+c). You may also nest tags in enhanced mode, and then use the Close All Tags button (alt+x) to close all open markup. Please note that the 'close tag' buttons only close tags that have been entered using the code buttons.

hope that helps you bearypoo!

You love doing that stuff don't you-of course I didn't understand any of that and I don't remember reading anything like that in FAQ-yes, I did take a look. You know, there really some cool things you can do with this you couldn't do before and other stuff I guess I have to figure out yet. I tried that chocolate thing and didn't care for it and tried to go back to the default-you know what, I have a goofy hybrid thing now that I really hate and can't get rid of :D So, you can tell me about tags and stuff another time-I'm really not sure if I want to open 'em or close 'em or if I care  :D

the only main complaints i have thus far is that there is a 500 character limit for sigs now. and also that when you open an attachment, it doesn't open a new window up...so you have to hit backspace (i've already accidently closed my window several times now  )

THAT 500 character limit is killing me, too. *sigh*:rose:

And the first time you go to change your sig, it will kick you in the butt too. You may not be over 500 but you have to be close. And they are taking away html codes soon from the sigs.

 :(

Well, that's okay-I don't know what a html code is anyway

So

If they take away HTML will my links in my sig disapeer?
I sure hope not because NakeySnakey wasted almost
half a day showing me how to put them there.

if you're using html in the sig, yes...it will not work properly
not yet...but according to Manu, they will be doing away with html completely sometime this week...so you'll have to use the vBcodes instead *sighs*

i already changed my Tori banner image from html to vb, and i don't think i have any other html codes there (not that i can think of or see)

basically the same way as vBcodes....some are just a bit different

example:

with vBcodes, you put [ color = red ] text [ / color ] (except without the spaces)

and with html, you put < font color = "red" > text < / font > (once again, w/out the spaces though)

another example:

[ size = 4 ] text [ / size] for vB and < font size = "4" > text < / font > for html

i'm sure you're TOTALLY confused now though bear....so just ignore this post
of course, others might understand and benefit from it

Don't be smirking at me :D Actually, I linked the pic threads already with the vBcodes, so there  What I'm trying to figure out now is how to link a story and our bio page-both of which sound like they'll disappear in a few days. So far I've only had to delete one story from the sig line since I couldn't figure that one out and I'm not even going to touch the bio page with a link to all stories since I don't have a clue how to do that. Of course I did learn that other thing, you know: I love this shit-NOT!

{url =http://english.literotica.com/stories/memberpage.php?uid=52318&page=submissions}BearLee and Dawns Fiction on Lit{/url}

copy that and put it in your sig...just switch the { } brackets for [ ] ones
and of course you can change the text inbetween to whatever you'd like it to say
:)

I know, but what I don't get, and I realize this was written a long time ago is this:

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42918

This one:

We also do not allow posts that are sexual in nature or violate vBulletin community standards. The vBulletin team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.

Actually, if you read through them, it's about as bad as the PATRIOT ACT

because bearypoo...that's for the VBullentine site...NOT Lit

there are TONS of message boards on the internet, and most of them use the VBullentine format to run their sites.

you need to read the LIT guidelines and rules ;) :)

EDIT: and here are the LIT fourm rules: Fourm Rules

:)

Oh-Manu had it linked so I thought it was important somehow to be quoting John Ashcroft :D

Ember Faye said:
where does he have it linked at?

On his update to the updates-as you read it it gives a link you can click to learn this stuff and then you find some that say click me and it's there-by some dude or dudette named Chris or something like that. You know, I've tried to send a feedback to an author on a story three times now and each time I've been reported for SPAM   Not a bad story really-but shit-if I keep doing it, and I will, I'll probably get thrown off the site-if not for that then for PMing Laurel three times to complain

yeah...those "click me" things do not pertain to Lit. the chris dude is the person that runs the main VBullentine board site. don't worry bearypoo, they're two different things. Manu was just trying to point out the page on how to use the vBcodes :)

i don't know what to say on the feedback thing, unless you were accidently doing something else besides sending feedback. and i'm sure Laurel will give you a warning (or 3, as is usually the case with message boards) before booting you off :p ;)

here are the most recent updates for those that are interested:

Manu's Updates

i pm'd Manu this eve to ask about probs i'm having with the browser i use. some of you have discovered some of the more nifty vBcodes that you can use like shadow, glow, blur, highlight, flip, etc. .. well, these were not working with my browser. the only browser i got it to work in was IE. so, i asked him if he knew anything about that (yes, i tried looking in the tool and help areas of my browser, but found nothing on it) hopefully he'll have an answer or have some way to fix it...cuz i'm sorry, but IE blows monkey chunks and fucks my puter up too much and i refuse to use it (and here i was left out all day when Mav, Ran, Lee and others were using all this stuff and i couldn't see it  :()

i also voiced my opinion to Manu about my dislike of the new av size limit and the character size limit in the sigs.

hmmm...that's all i can think of for now :)

Too much shit going on I guess. I hadn't really noticed anything different about the AV size. The feedback thing has to do with a SPAM control thing they put in place that is supposed to pick up commercial stuff-somehow my feedback fell into that according to the system although I sent it to Laurel-all it said was nice story...blah, blah, blah, There is a disclaimer that says the system may not work everytime and Laurel wrote back and said she was going to check it. Finally got my feedback through this morning. Some good news for you though. In a PM, Manu told me the size for sig lines is 1000 characters, not 500, and even that would be tweaked under certain circumstances, but I doubt they will. Everyone would be making their case and my guess is they'll stick with it to make it easy-certainly easier than making exceptions on a case by case basis. I wrote back about the discrepancy and he said 1000 a second time so I guess you can add some stuff although I'm sure how banner type things factor in.

I have a question. I heard that you could get an avatar after 100 posts. Well I got 100 posts and I can't figure out how to get an avatar, can someone help me?

If you go to the button at the top of each thread page and click on quick links. Then click on edit Avatar. Down at the bottom of the box there is a browse button which will allow you to select a picture from your computer to use as an avatar.
After you have selected your picture click on save changes.

The picture must be less that 150 X 150 pixels and less than 15K bytes. You can edit any picture down to that size by reducing or trimming it. There are several free programs on the internet you can download that will allow you to do it.

Highly saturated color deep reds, blues, etc. will increase the number of bytes in your picture. jpeg pictures will use more bytes also, so bmp or gif pictures will be easier to get under the limit.

Any more questions, feel free to PM me.
