Too much shit going on I guess. I hadn't really noticed anything different about the AV size. The feedback thing has to do with a SPAM control thing they put in place that is supposed to pick up commercial stuff-somehow my feedback fell into that according to the system although I sent it to Laurel-all it said was nice story...blah, blah, blah, There is a disclaimer that says the system may not work everytime and Laurel wrote back and said she was going to check it. Finally got my feedback through this morning. Some good news for you though. In a PM, Manu told me the size for sig lines is 1000 characters, not 500, and even that would be tweaked under certain circumstances, but I doubt they will. Everyone would be making their case and my guess is they'll stick with it to make it easy-certainly easier than making exceptions on a case by case basis. I wrote back about the discrepancy and he said 1000 a second time so I guess you can add some stuff although I'm sure how banner type things factor in.

I got my reply back from Manu today and he advised about the 1000 limit. That must have changed sometime during the week, because when the change first happened, it was saying a limit of 500 (I told him I am in no way complaining about the 1000, that I think it's GREAT! hehe)

The AV size is still the same... 150x150....but the kb size has decreased to 15kb (which blows, cuz it was already a pain in the arse for me to get them under 20 since I like to photoshop them up a bit and whatnot. oh well)

Manu advised that he'll look into the browser problem and why some vBcodes are not showing up (I'm sure I'm not the only one who uses other things besides IE. and speaking of, if anyone happens to read this and you use Firefox and you know how to switch it so I can see all of the vBcodes, I would appreciate the info :))

You're welcome Lee

I'll continue to keep the updates posted here as I come across them :)

Thank you Mav for helping bigd1451 out
and I offer the same, if anyone has questions or needs help with anything, feel free to PM me :)

Now that's funny,
I'm using FireFox 1.0 and i have no problems with those vBcodes. Thank you Ember, one hour ago I didn't even know that things like "vBcodes" exist. Your explanations are very helpful. :rose:

Something else causes my head to ache:From time to time the system forgets that I'm logged in and asks for my user name and password when trying to open an attachement or posting an answer. I've tried checking the remeber me box but the rpoblem remains.
Any idea?

i'm using the Arial Chocolate one and it seems to be the one closest to the old layout.
the only main complaints i have thus far is that there is a 500 character limit for sigs now. and also that when you open an attachment, it doesn't open a new window up...so you have to hit backspace (i've already accidently closed my window several times now  )
It's sort of strange:
Sometimes the attachment still opens a new window (and asks for my user name etc.)
Sometimes it works as you described it.
Btw: This chocolate style is quite OK

I can use/see most of the vBcodes, but some of them (like the shadow text, blur, highlighted, flip, etc) are not showing up on my Firefox browser *shrugs*
dunno what the deal is with that

you're welcome :)
always happy to help when I can

if you clean your cookies out, you will have to relog back in. hubby does this from time to time and then I have to go back and reenter my user name and password on all my sites  (but..it IS a good thing to clear the cookies and history from time to time...puter tends to run slower if these things get to full :))

Manu advised...yesterday..?? I believe..?? that this has been fixed. Attachments should open in a new window as before :)

yeah...I've gotten quite use to the Aria Chocolate now. It's grown on me and I don't think I'll be changing it :D

Posting?

1) Why is there no longer a way to find out when the starter of a thread last posted on their thread?

Before all these changes I could click on their name and see when they last posted. But now that capability has been taken away. This is REALLY frustrating as I then have to scroll through at times pages of responses to find the most recent posting!!!

This is both time consuming and CLEARLY not user friendly!

2) Also now to place somebody either on the buddy or ignore list I have to goto their profile and several steps later finally place them on the appropiate list.

Again I find that both time consuming and NOT user friendly

3) Finally when I click on my cp why does it not show when my "buddies" are on-line anymore??

I appreciate the changes to the site but somethings STILL in my opinion need to be improved!!

Most of it depends on what layout you're using.
I'm not sure about the other layouts, but I use the Aria Chocolate one, and with that one, you can click on the users name and it will give you a list of options (like what use to be at the bottom of each post on the old format) one of the options is to search for other posts made by the user. Another option is to view their public profile and there is an option to either view all posts made by that person, or to view all threads started by that person.

The same thing goes for the buddy/ignore list. Click on their name and it will give you that option (as stated before, this works with Aria Chocolate..not sure about the other layouts)

With the buddy list, when you click on your CP, there should be a list of things over to the side. One of these is your buddy/ignore list. Though, it doesn't show who's online/offline there. That may be something else to take up with Manu. You can see who's online/offline in a thread though. with the Aria layout, all the info is underneath the AV, and one of those things is to show whether the person is online/offline (granted, there are a lot of us that just use the invisible mode and it will always show us as offline anyway)

The Aria and Imagize layouts are the ones closest to the old layout.
You can view each layout by scrolling to the bottom of the page, and on the left hand side there is a box that lets you change the layout. However, you have to go to your CP and go to edit options and scroll down to the last option and save it for it to stay on that layout. Otherwise, when you leave and come back, it will be on the layout you had before.

Hope that helps out some :)

Since I haven't used the buddy list before I am not sure if this is true. I went into the buddy list this morning through my user cp as Ember described. At the top are two selections online and offline. I would assume that clicking on one or the other you can see everyone who fits that description. Either all of those online or all of those offline.
Maybe someone with an active buddy list could let us know if that is true?

 :D

I am using the Imagize large font style and I agree...It is most like the original.

As for the buddy list, Go to "Quick Links". one of the options there is "Open Buddy List"...It will show your buddy list and who is on. That option is there no matter what skin you are using.

hmm...strange
I'm not seeing the Online/Offline option

All I see are the ones that are on my buddy list and those that are on my ignore list

I really don't even pay attention to the buddy list anymore, because as I stated before, a lot of people are like me and just remain on Invisible all the time *shrugs*
oh well!

I found out my own answer to this.

When you click on view buddy list it gives you two lists in the same box, online peeps on the top and offline peeps on the bottom. Both lists are labeled accordingly. I don't think that the list refreshes itself when a person's status changes. you have to click reload. Or close and reopen the buddy list.

All this works only in the quick link to the buddy list.

It may be different in different skins. I am using Aria Chocolate.

ahhhh
ok

I was going through my control panel. And there, it only shows who's on your buddy list and who's on your ignore list. Doesn't show who's on or offline.

So you have to go through the Quick Link to actually see who's online. Ok...cool

Thanx Mav! :)

Hi, it's me again.
The cookies are cleared after every session when closing the browser.

Take Esha's thread for instance: I'm logged in. Trying to open one of the indexed pic will open a new window that wants to log me in.
The attachment in her 2nd post is opened without any difficulty.

I'm not that experienced than you are, honey. May I express my gratitude to your patience with halfwits like me :rose:

Hmm...this is one of those things where I would have to be there and see what it's actually doing to help you out.

If you're already logged into Lit and then you're trying to open an attachment, it shouldn't be asking you to log in again. That's strange.

Anybody else know?

and hon...*smiles*...you're sweet.
don't put yourself down. I was worse than a halfwit when I first started messing with puters and whatnot. Takes time and messing around with a lot and then you eventually pick up on things. Hell, I'm still learning stuff! :p

We'll try and get it fingered out for you ;)

I have not had that problem but I have been im'd and pm'd about others having the same issue...Also some of the attachments open in new window, some do not. I am sure it will be a bit but Manu will hopefully get the "bugs" worked out before too long.

Oh and I have also found that when I go to certain threads and click at the bottom where it says Amateur Pic Feedback (supposed to take you there), I get an error message and have to go back and click the link at the top of the page. Always happens when I go to Yourdestonie's threads. Strange but never fails. Have no issues on any other threads thus far.

FYI for everyone:

you can now upload a Profile Pic for your Profile page

Go to your control panel, and there should be a listing that says: Edit Profile Picture. Click on that and upload a pic as you would for your AV.

Profile Pic can be bigger than the AV size: "The maximum size of your custom image is 250 by 250 pixels or 29.3 KB (whichever is smaller)"

This is why the AV size is smaller now. Because of this Profile Pic option

ENJOY!

:)
