Does anyone read print newspapers anymore?
Have you checked out Gutenberg.org or Archive.org?
How many books does one have to read to be well-read?
Is that lie reading Hemingway over a bodice-ripper?
You haven't read For Whom the Bell Tolls? Maybe it's a US thing, but all students had to read that.
Nope. Not compulsory here! I seem to recall 'Of Mice and Men' being on the school list, though, quite enjoyed that one - he's one of yours, is he not, is that on US students' lists too?
Where is done_got_old? Wasn't she an English teacher? Can she give us a list of required reading?
Shouldn't Great Expectations by Charles Dickens be on the list?
)Ugh... Dickens.... Do you know I have never made it all the way through a Dickens novel?
Can I suggest DH Lawrence instead? Maybe "Women in Love"? Or, of course, "Lady Chatterley's Lover"? (Probably have to leave that for the older students....)
What about "The Scarlet Letter?" Shouldn't that be on any reading list?
What if you read Lady Chatterly's Lover in high school? My mother was just happy I was reading. I read lots of Stephen King besides the school's required list.
