Okay, so, we heard from that side of the aisle. Seems apathy reigns free, and racism is proven to still exist. Any progressives want to offer up a proposed goal or solution?

The progressive solution to the race problem the same one they have promoted since the early 1970's when it became obvious that ending racial discrimination would not end racial inequality: more affirmative action, laxer law enforcement, bigger welfare checks for black folks.

White liberals also like forced school busing, although they avoid sending their children to public schools with high percentages of blacks in the student body.

from a Canadian opinion I think that's where part of the problem is... our country's policy on identity is multiculturalism, where differences are acknowledged and celebrated.. while in the US, you're an American first and foremost , and people have this whacky tendency to want to define themselves by things like religon, politics and skin pigment.. and those that want to define themselves run the danger of being considered unamerican.. it creates idea of us and them.. when its just us showing that what we can still be different

My view is if the little girl you mentioned is fed tales of hope and progress along with the cautionary tales of historical atrocities, she may never feel "less than."

No one makes anyone feel anything. Treat ever interaction with other humans with mistrust and apprehension and your worst fears at some point will likely materialize.

Your treating that little girl the same as if she were an equally cute blond-haired blue-eyed one is not a matter of insignificant importance. Children remember being noticed and appreciated.

I have no doubt that through-out her life there will be teachers and neighbors and friends and the parents of friends that will also, as you have notice her vibrancy and treat her with all the dignity she as a human being deserves.

The odds that these days she will bump into vile, overt racism are diminishing. Any person, as they grow and develop, is subjected to all manner of slings and insults. Too short, too tall, to fat too skinny, crooked teeth or braces. It all gets hurled. Melanin levels is a pretty weak thing to pick on.

This is very true, has always been true and always will be true. I don't think many people have considered this as fact which is why I am quoting you.

How do you conquer a country? Old school{ you killed all of the able bodied men, you raped the women and you brainwash the children. That is how you force a society to submit and assimilate, you erase all you can and begin again. And they are assimilated by a generation.

I know a few black people who have not committed crimes, have no children and show up for work on time and do their jobs properly but I know they don't feel that that all's all it takes. A lot of white people don't even like the "good ones."

My husband came from a life of privilege. A private school, followed by a European boarding scool. He even came along with a trust fund.

And yet, even immersed by these wonderfully enlightened white folks around him.. the most common insult for him was " nigger"

At school casuals, other kids parents would mistake him for service staff.

Every sports team would try drafting him without even asking him if he wanted to play or ever had plaed the sport.

He was always turned to for advice on drugs or crime

When we travel throughout the States, I have to drive... because when he does we cant go more then 3 days without getting pulled over for DWB
