My husband came from a life of privilege. A private school, followed by a European boarding scool. He even came along with a trust fund.

And yet, even immersed by these wonderfully enlightened white folks around him.. the most common insult for him was " nigger"

At school casuals, other kids parents would mistake him for service staff.

Every sports team would try drafting him without even asking him if he wanted to play or ever had plaed the sport.

He was always turned to for advice on drugs or crime

When we travel throughout the States, I have to drive... because when he does we cant go more then 3 days without getting pulled over for DWB

I am nostalgic for the 1950's. Rates of crime and illegitimacy were low. Most people got pay raises every year that beat inflation. Those were the days.

Mostly from small minded idiots who want to shove people that are different than they into neat little boxes that they can then set apart as "other".

Yeah, the 50's were great, if you were white.

Segregation meant you didn't have to got to school with "them" or even share the same public facilities in some places. They weren't allowed to join the YMCA or YWCA so you didn't have to work out with "them". It was unlikely that one of "them" would buy a house in your neighborhood. Their constitutional right to vote was infringed upon well into the mid-1960s. Hell, some whites claimed that African Americans "weren't intelligent enough to even have the privilege of an education at all".

I can see why the 1950's sounds like paradise to your backward racist ass.
