I knew a real guy in r/l named Harold Butts. (!) It happens.

Writers all the time use puns or foreshadowing in names. You'll see it in JK Rawlings, you'll see it in Stephen King, you'll see it in Dan Brown (the DaVinci Code) If you really look, you'll see it in almost every well known writer you can think of. (some are just more subtle than others.)

It's a fine line. ya gotta do what works for you. That Jackie (or is it Joan?) Collins uses all "Dynasty" type names. It works for her, but it might not work for someone else. You *usually* have to use names that fit your genre- so in a way we all do it. We don't give our western cowboys names like Piere and Jean Claude.
