Real American?

Yep, Memorial Day is meant for the fallen, not all in the military--who get their day on Armed Forces Day.

My dad counts in a delayed way--certainly enough to honor today, and his grave at Arlington National Cemetery got a nice American flag put on it for today. He was in the Anzio invasion and marched all the way to Heidelberg. At Monte Cassino he was a survivor of the Lost Battalion and received the Silver Star for bringing a group of wounded soldiers through enemy lines to safety. He was shot and delayed on the French-Alsace border, but survived to fight in Korea and then Vietnam. Thirty-eight years after being shot in France, though, a blood clot broke loose from his WWII wound, went to his heart, and killed him.

So, thanks to him and all others in the military who sacrificed themselves to safeguard the privilege of the whiners about the system to pontificate on this board. ;)
