According to some recent interactions with Admin about why threads have been deleted, it's up to the OP to ensure infringing images are reported so the Mods can delete them. Too many unreported infringing images will get the thread deleted.
 
If the mods deem this thread needs deleting, I won't put up a fuss. But I do believe it is fully the responsibility of the poster to follow the rules. Wouldn't it make much more sense to ban the habitual offender rather than close the thread. I liken it to this: when a roadway has lots of speeders, the solution isn't to close the road, it's to enforce the speed limit and ticket the offenders.

According to the moderators, the issue lies within uploading content to lit servers. Most of use are linking to images hosted elsewhere that don't even remotely cross any boundaries of "decency" here. I think the thread will be just fine.

This is absolutely untrue. It is up to individual posters to both follow the guidelines and report problematic posts. Threads with numerous and repeated violations often get deleted. Opening posters have no duty to moderate threads.
