Rejection

It also throws the theory that there's a white list out the window, coz if there'd be anyone on such a list, it would be me, because, you know: site sycophant.
I got the first theee chapters of Nix all bounced back in minutes just like you. It was due to me attempting to spoof the URLs of the next chapters. The text was specific and non-boilerplate.

I’ll PM you about the ‘white list.’

There's a post from Laurel, one of the earliest in the AH, from back in 2000 I think, saying that they'd commissioned a programmer to write some screening software for them that was going to reduce approval times by 75%.
I've always suspected a word bot, triggering on key words. It didn't occur to me to add the Note to the Editor the first time.

What surprised me was the speed of the bounce back - only three minutes. Which means there's a first bot screening very early in the queue. It's been there twenty-two minutes since the resubmission with a Note to the Editor, so cross fingers. I'll check again in the morning.

There's definitely an automated screening process going on. I just had a story rejected, within three minutes of submitting, for suspected underage. I've just resubmitted with a Note to the Editor, saying the text establishes the character as androgynous, maybe a teenager, maybe thirty.

The reason for the bounce, I'm going to guess, was the following:

plus references to a girl or a boy.

Still, it makes a change from suspected AI.

It also throws the theory that there's a white list out the window, coz if there'd be anyone on such a list, it would be me, because, you know: site sycophant.
It doesn't. It just means that likely no one is exempt from the basic screening for underage and such. But the whitelist exists and it allows a number of authors to blitz through the approval process.

Whether you are on it or not is a different question altogether. ;)

I have only ever thought that it applies to AI generated writing.

Challenge accepted.

My version:

Here is the story of my transformation from shy virgin to a full fledged slut who even managed to get my family members involved.

My mom, Sheetal, was a typical housewife. Her usual daily routine was going to the temple, cooking our meals and taking care of the household chores.

My father, Gopal, was a mechanic. My brother Rohan followed in his footsteps and even worked with Dad at the same local auto repair shop. They worked diligently every weekday, leaving by 8am and not returning until as late as 7pm most nights.

Our family wasn't too rich, but we still had a happy and contented life. That is, until I took my first job, and changed our lives forever.
I get your point, but I'm still me, I'll use my flaws and try to portray my stuff, I have no intention of arguing or fighting with anyone anymore, but the original point of my thread, Rejection, was of my frustrations, as after so many chapters being published, I still am not getting those 2 pending ones published, but let's end it, if it's destiny that my small following can read those things, even though My English is bad, then I'm be grateful, Thanks.

Status has shifted to New, after 23 hours. Scheduled to publish on the 23rd.

See, still privileged. But rumor has it that platinum fanboys can get published on the day of submission, and that the top of new stories list is reserved for them.
You'll need to up your game.

I never expected such new responses but, if someone can take this on a different platform or thread I'll be thankful, my understanding of this Author Forum was actually so way off, and I hate that you argue with your own kind,

One thing I know for sure, Someone with "super user" power is monitoring the forum in a regular basis. I pasted my entire (shortish) non erotic story in the 'story feedback' section asking if the covert "connection" between tbe MC (me) and the oak tree was the reason for it staying in pending purgatory. Got no replies, but a couple days later, Ms/Mr/Mrs Super User removed the contents of my post (i.e my story) and inserted a [No stories allowed] message, leaving the post itself visible. Now I know someone with power or maybe many with power are viewing all of our threads about pending purgatory and just don't give a damn; and that my fellow authors (IMHO) "hurts" the most. YMMV

Only person I saw arguing was you. 🤷‍♂️

That’s @AH_Mod not @Laurel

Several of the forums have their own dedicated moderator. In Story Feedback, that's @Sammael Bard. I don't think they have anything to do with the Authors' Hangout, though. The moderator here is @AH_Mod.

My quickest publication was just under 24 hours, but that was a 750 worder, so hardly counts. But still, I picture Laurel waving it through with a flick of her hand and a nod of recognition, her eye on that AwkwardlySet chap next in line.

Correct. They both keep a steady eye on their designated Forums, removing email addresses and too long story citations pretty quickly. As does Lynn in the Editors' Forum.

I am sure these "moderators" communicate with @Manu @Laurel frequently. Sick and tired of "no eyes" acknowledging this bug

Forum Mods don't have anything to do with publishing/rejecting stories. They're (unpaid) volunteers who remove spam and other forum rule-breaking posts. All matters related to website programming and story publishing are handled by @Manu and @Laurel respectively.

And no, forum mods aren't in regular contact with them. When they don't have time, NO ONE gets a reply. Best way to get a response from them is to be specific and concise in your private messages like this -

Title - (My Story) is stuck in moderation

Body - I did all that was mentioned and did these following steps but (my story) is still stuck. Help.

New users whining about story moderation queue happens every year. Your case isn't new nor is it something that'll magically stop happening next year just because you have complaints and some forum mod gave their assurances (which, again, has nothing to do with story approval process).

You're right about one thing though, I don't give a damn. I am numb to these repeating, endless complaints from noobs. Replying the same thing as the forum stickies gets stale after a while and I don't have the patience to repeat these exercises every year on my free time.

Best advice I can give? Get used to it.

This website has the same capacity as a mom and pop store but new users are pouring in expecting quick services like Amazon.

Stuff will get resolved.

Eventually.

Maybe, maybe not! But it's all out of our control, and I agree with you, so we shouldn't sweat it.

If that's indeed true both Laurel and Manu are giving "super user" (being able to modify a user's comment in the forum versus deleting it) powers to their bread and butter machine to "nobodys" (no offense meant if you prefer the term volunteers so be it)

But it’s not just noobs. It’s unhelpful to dismiss the recent problems as just affecting new writers. It’s affecting people who have been here for years, published dozens of stories, and won special and monthly comps.

The winner of the Halloween Comp is stuck. Winners of the previous two comps were stuck for weeks. Site fixtures have got stuck. One of the best new writers of Lesbian has left.

I’m sure your side job is very frustrating - it comes across in what you write - but you are mischaracteizing recent events.

Where in the world are you coming up with that? Editing, deleting, warning, and the like are standard moderator powers in any forum software package. Super Moderators would have access to any forum section and likely the ability to ban/approve members.

They're just moderators. Every website has them.

Here's a screenshot of me moderating a Discord server for Project Zomboid (not the official one, just the people I play with). I'm not the admin, but I can do some stuff.

Standard moderator "power" is to be able to delete a comment (as well as banning a user) not actually go inside another user's comment and modify it.

What "standard" would possibly standardize the powers assigned to the word moderator across a near-infinite number of platforms?

EDIT: This is a rhetorical question. There is no answer. Moderator powers are whatever the admin chooses to/can assign to them (platform dependent), and that has as many variables as you can imagine.

I've been moderating forums and modding forum software since the bleedin' 90s. Editing posts is normal for the lowest tier of moderator. It's a holdover from ancient times when people treated their postcount like some mark of their worth, and deleting one was akin to stealing their lifeforce.
