Where to start with this?

I've been a Democrat all my adult life and always will be. But really, look at what our party has become: a bunch of whiny cry babies who are afraid to offend anyone at any cost, even if it gets them what they want. In addition to that, their superior attitude towards Republicans are what cost us the 2024 election. Nobody is going to vote for a political party who looks down on them and treats them like morons.

As much as I dislike Republicans, I admire their balls: in elections, they play dirty, they play rough, and they know how to win. Democrats profess that they know "the way," but if that is so, then why is it that the Republicans are now in control of everything? Exactly. If Democrats are as smart as they think they are, we'd be in charge of the government, not our political opposition.

I'm not a political expert, but if Democrats really want to win these midterms (or any other election) they need to start looking at themselves and say, "Where did we fuck up?" and stop focusing on all the awfulness of Donald Trump (and there is much of it); they need to claim some culpability in their losses (and unlikability) and stop blaming everyone else.

I really am disgusted with both parties these days. Republicans have no morals and Democrats have no grit.

Oh, where to start? First, congratulations on discovering the radical concept that elections are competitive and complicated, groundbreaking stuff for someone who’s been a lifelong Democrat! Who knew that whining, superiority complexes, and vague moral posturing might not be a winning strategy? Truly revelatory.

And yes, let’s all bow down to the GOP “balls” you admire so much, because nothing says political genius like naked opportunism, raw tribalism, and cheerleading every morally bankrupt move while pretending it’s strategy. Amazing insight, really.

Meanwhile, your prescription for Democrats is breathtakingly simple: “Stop whining and take responsibility,” as if that one magic realization will undo decades of strategic disaster, cultural cluelessness, and messaging that manages to offend everyone and inspire no one. Bravo.

There’s no point in the Democrats courting the far left because they’re unreliable allies. They don’t care about women’s rights, or racial justice. They’re decent on economic issues but will vote against incremental gains and provide cover for the Republicans with their “both sides” rhetoric.

The Republican Party is the party of the white majority of all income groups.

The Democratic Party is a loose coalition of demographics who dislike each other. Most Jews and most Muslims dislike each other. Most blacks and most Hispanics dislike each other. Beginning with the War in Vietnam the Democratic Party has been dominated by well educated, well paid bi coastal professionals. Most of these look down on the white working class people who used to make up the majority of Democrats. Most white working class people resent being looked down on.

The strongest issue for the Democrats is the growing income gap. Those who dominate the Democratic party do not exploit this issue because they are on the winning side of the income divide. They try to exploit the issues of crime, race, and immigration, where the Republicans have the advantage.

I vote Democrat, but I do not like what the Democrats have become.

The Republicans have become even worse. Republicans used to value balanced budgets. Beginning with the Reagan administration they have cut taxes for the rich in ways that have cause the national debt to grow. In addition, the GOP pretends that global climate change caused by the consumption of fossil fuels is not a problem.

Don't know why I seeing this after I blocked you, but let's go there. I criticize the Democrats because they don't oppose Trump and created the conditions that allowed him to win.

Biden kept the concentration camps at the border open. Biden ignored BLM organizers. Biden had the most deportations of any president before him, including Trump's first term. Biden didn't have Trump executed for treason and let fascists gain power. And if anyone criticized his very right wing policies, liberals would crash out.

So if you can't criticize the Democrats when they're in power for continuing Trump's policies, and you can't criticize them when those policies cause them to lose elections, and you can't criticize Democrats for sitting on their hands and letting Trump do as he pleases, when can they be criticized?

This all started because I called out a racist who said some of the most vile, bigoted things about Palestinians I've ever read on the internet. But because they're a Democrat, they get a pass.

The other day I called out a Democrat for using homophobic slurs and folks came out of the woodwork to defend it.
