Jake 25
6’2 195 pounds physically fit. Works out 3 days a week at the gym.
clean cut very short light blonde hair and blue eyes
Jake worked very hard to get a scholarship through academics and sports combined to attend the university of his choice. He was determined to not live his life struggling like his parents and so many other people he knew. He loved all of them dearly especially his parents but if you didn’t make six figures nowadays, you were pawn in life’s chess game. The only way he could get to the front of the line or become a player is to go into a guaranteed career. He chose to become a lawyer. Not only a lawyer but to specialize in corporate affairs such as mergers and contracts at the top level. His minor for his degree was International Business. He even dabbled in some foreign language classes in high school and college.
He dated the love of his life for 3 solid years. The problem was the work load he was taking on with getting his law degree after his bachelors. Law school was rough and the time they spent initially was quite diminished. Even the great love life they had at the end of each day was no longer every day as he was exhausted mentally and physically with his studies. As almost by design when neglect comes into play, she cheated on him. He had no idea for how long or how many times. He just angrily took her clothes and any possessions such as music cds and tossed in garbage bags. He demanded she leave the apartment they shared for over 2 and ½ years of their 3 years together.
He heard updates of how she was working a waitress job or two to make ends meet. She was in her own apartment but at the not so good part of the city. Her family didn’t have much money the same as his. One thing they bonded on was making their dreams come true to not live like their parents or others they knew that struggled. He had a lot of student loans still but was starting to move up as he finished law school then on the 2nd try passed the bar exam. He was accepted by a medium size firm. He wanted to spent a few years tops there before going after a corporate law job. For now the apartment worked so he could save while taking care of student loans and buying suits for work.
Recently he was invited to a friend’s wedding and to his surprise so was his ex. He was able to sit on the opposite side of the chapel during the wedding but at the reception it is not as easy to ignore her.
He looks across the room and sees her drinking a glass or two of champaign. He slowly walks across the room to at least say hi.
“Hey Jess. I at least wanted to say Hi. I am sure this a bit awkward…but since most of our friends like Mike and Sherry, we share..." He said as his words trailed off.
