I had to convince the tattoo artist that I really really wanted a carp done in green, not black or orange. He wasn’t happy and was convinced it would not look good, not to mention it was outside of traditional style. Anyway, he inked it green and was shocked when his colleagues thought it looked great. It ain’t easy convincing a Japanese artist to ‘colour outside the box’ but I guess I had a way of doing it
