Rick Perry Proclaims

Rick Perry proclaims that the Charleston shooting was a "drug-induced accident".

Apparently, he meant "incident".

Also from that article

He added that pushing gun control was a “knee-jerk reaction” that would do little to change gun violence “as long as evil and cowardice is alive in the world”.

Perry said he wasn’t ready to point to any policy changes that could prevent another Charleston.

Of course he's not ready to address the issue with a policy based solution. What self respecting republican would do such a thing?

“This type of conduct is something that only our display of our own love and good faith that is in our heart can change – laws can’t change this,” Christie said during a speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington, DC, an event that draws a largely evangelical audience. “Only the goodwill and love of the American people can let those folks know that that act was unacceptable, disgraceful.”

Hippie! :rose::rose:

The closest approximation to democratic socialism is Scandinavian social democracy. In the world nine countries have AAA ratings from Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s and Fitch. Three of them are Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

Three others have what could be called Social democratic economies: Australia, Canada, and Germany.

Denmark, Sweden, Australia, and Norway have less public debt as a percentage of gross domestic product than does the United States.

Each of these six countries has a lower infant mortality rate than the United States.

Australia, Canada, Germany, Norway, and Sweden have longer life expectancies.

And all of them have started fewer wars over the last 50 years than GWB did in eight.

I am opposed to the war on drugs the way it is being fought. MJ and most other drugs should be legal but restricted to adults, and this is what I don't like about drug dealers, of any race or ethnicity. They sell to anybody who has the money, unlike bars and liquor dealers, who feel the need to protect their licenses.

Except that's not normally the case......yes there are some fucked up crack heads out there, but most dealers don't want to get in trouble so they avoid kids.

You're just making shit up based on an Alex Jones rant.....and you're still contradicting yourself.

Liquor dealers are ok but fuck the rest of them because they sell to kids!! But against the war on drugs.....hang that pot peddling dealer!! LOL

I am pro-choice, but that is only one factor. I also believe two adults of any gender should be able to marry each other. However, I am even more strongly in favor of people being responsible for themselves and their families, and I vote against the party of the dole, especially when they are trying to run people's lives to such a degree.

You vote republican, that makes the bold section a fucking lie.

Just on its face Socialism is a failure.

Based upon what? You're just making things up....Socialism just about kicked the fucking piss out of us and is coming back for round 2 to crush M'uricuhz balls with a battle axe.

If the gov. provides cradle to grave security, that will remove any incentive to be self-sufficient or to improve one's lot in life.

Self sufficiency isn't something the vast majority of humans are capable of and the ones that are capable are considered bat shit outcasts of society.

Improving one's lot in life? That must be why most of socialist Europe has better upward mobility (improving ones lot in life) is better than here in America where if you aren't born rich or win a lotto you're pretty much fucked.

At least I know how to spell "bizarre."

Yea well....at least I don't just regurgitate Alex Jones rants about evil socialism despite the fact that I love and approve of all sorts of socialist shit...you know like you and most personal freedom/free market/capitalism loathing 'conservative' Americans do.

In the end, it comes down to interpretation. Granted, I disapprove of the overreach of the Federal Government at times and the Tenth Amendment is the supreme law of the land, but so is the Thirteenth Amendment. So is the Fourteenth Amendment. I might add that the much hated (in right-wing circles) 14th Amendment (except when useful to them, such as in Bush vs. Gore) also includes a section that authorizes Congress to enforce it by "appropriate legislation."

And there it is.....much of the Constitutional authority for a lot of what Congress does today. This doesn't obviate states' autonomy, but it certainly puts an end to any "sovereignty" nonsense. When Congress banned the Klan, it did so under the 14th Amendment. When it passed the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, it did so under the 14th Amendment.

Look, this is speaking from the perspective of a former states' rights advocate. I have had to rethink a lot of my views, because it has become increasingly clear to me that we are having to re-fight the same damn battles all over again. Again and again, states dominated by narrow-minded prudes seek to legislate against liberty and equality, to deny the equal protection of the law to LGBT people, and to treat the rich or Christians or other favored groups as worthier of the law's protection than the poor, minorities, or LGBT Americans.
