Life has had its ups and downs for me too but mostly ups the last year so I'm in a good mood just in time for Christmas.

Turk, I found an old family recipe for gluhwein and made a batch for the Roof. Have a taste, but please, make sure you leave plenty for the paying customers.

*pours a generous serving into a warm mug and sinks gracefully on to a cushioned deck chair*

Good evening one and all. You know, I've always loved the view from the Roof. You can see the stars shining over Lit...off in the distance I can just make out the China Pearl...and over there...the Authors Hangout....and voyeur that I am...I can peek in on as many moments of passion as I care to view. Truth is, this is a lovely spot and not a bad place to spend an hour or two.

Captain, its good to see you back on the Roof, and the beautiful DM.

Subo, we do share some lovely memories... Never has a cab ride been so exciting!

Remec, we may have to have that hot tub serviced and see if it still can work it's magic. As I recall, it was quite a lure for some of the Roofettees. Perhaps it still is.

What do you think HT...would Ari spring for a service call on the hot tub? I know revenues have been down a bit...but this could be a real draw. Wet Roofettees...gluhwein...eggnog...sounds like a party if not money.

Turk, thanks for keeping the gluhwein warm., not to mention the Roofettes. I herded my little guppies off to Christmas vacation today and so I'm off till Jan 5. These long vacations are one of the nice parts of teaching, but boy do I need it.

Holding my empty hands up for all to see, shereads, I'm unarmed. The decorations are indeed well hung. I make no claims for myself. Although hope springs eternal. As you say, joy can be elusive but gratitude is a good start. It's been an up and down year for me, literally and I'm proud to be erect at the moment. (Please misconstrue that) Not bad for a man who couldn't walk or talk in May.

DM, my favorite giggler, let me know if you need any tickling. That looks like a sensitive spot right there...............

just peachy keen

I'm currently hale and hearty. I had a stroke in May, missed the last month of school and recovered over the summer. The doctor told me I had a "golden stroke" no aneurisms. I was only semi-paralyzed for about a week and able to talk within hours. I had some pretty bad headaches for a couple months but I'm retty much symptom free. I still have a little minor aphasia once in a while-- my students finish my thoughts, lol, they think it's a teaching technique.

So, as you can imagine, waking up alive is at the top of my gratitude list. That and lots of people who care about me.

Lady Kit, I had to sell the Jungle Compound. I'm in Savannah GA now, renting a place to be near my mom. It's been a tumultuous year - or so I thought, until hearing about Subo's story. A reminder of just how lucky I am.

DM, it's great to see you again. Captain B, delighted to meet you. As you can see, HT keeps the welcome mat ready here at the Rooftop. It remains a reliable place to find good company, even after a long absence.
