Adam couldn't believe it had already been five years since high school was over. Sure, every year during college he would come back and work while hanging out with his friends. This year was a bit different though, with knowing that he was working at a real job and that his vacation was only a week long.

He looked around catching up with some of his old friends. While talking to some of them he noticed a woman come in the entrance of the reunion. He had a hard time thinking about who she was and how she looked so familiar. "Hey, Dan, who is that girl who just came in?" he asked, trying to find out who this mysterious person was.

As she walked into the room she couldn't help but feel nervous. It had been five long years since high school and she hadn't seen anyone since graduation day. Anna had went off to college but in the past few years she had started a career as a model. Something she never thought she would have done but in those five years she had grown up and her looks had changed as well.

"Damn," Adam thought to himself, "why can't I figure out who that is?" He looked around the area and tried to figure out who might be missing as he was going through name's.

"Maybe it's someone's wife," replied Dan. "If she is married, that's one very lucky guy."

"Well I'll need to find out sometime tonight," Adam said as he started to walk over to a few more friends and started talking to them. Every once in a while he would glace out, trying to look for this mysterious woman, seeing if she was with someone.

She was a bit overwhelmed as she looked through the crowd of people. No one jumped out at her so she sat down at one of the tables. As she searched for someone she knew she tried to identify everyone. Some people she knew right away but others weren't as easy to figure out.

Adam continued to fraternize with his former classmates throughout the night. Several times when he brought up the lady in the red dress it seemed as if no one knew who she was. Granted the school wasn't exactly small, but he thought he had known everyone at least in his class.

After a while he made his way over to the bar to order a scotch. He figured that he would have a drink or two and if she didn't make a move he was going to go and introduce himself. He knew that he had a reputation as a ladies man in high school and he had no problem carrying that over into college. Adam figured that at least having a talk with her wouldn't be a problem. That, and he thought to himself that she would make a nice story for another notch on his belt if she was single, as he started to drink his first glass.

Anna smiled politely as someone sat down next to her. She wasn't completely sure who he was but she knew he seemed familiar. They sat and chatted for awhile before she noticed a man at the bar. He looked like Adam but from that distance she wasn't quite sure. Turning her focus back on the man next to her she started to smile more and laugh. If it was Adam she wanted him to know she was having a good time or at least she wanted it to look like she was.

Adam had a few drinks over the course of an hour while sitting at the bar. He looked over every now and then and saw the lovely lady talking and laughing with a few people. Whoever she was, he thought, she didn't know that many people here. It took a while but he noticed her get up after he was planning on going to talk with some of his friends. He watched as the girl in red started to walk in a certain direction, though he couldn't really tell where.

Anna walked to the bar and asked for a glass of water. As much as she could have used a glass of wine or something stronger she decided against it. The last thing she wanted to do was risk embarrassing herself in front of all these people.

Adam watched as she made her way to the bar. He looked her over as she ordered a water. He figured his curiosity could take over. "Hi there. I'm Adam," he said. "I hate to admit this but I'm having the hardest time remembering who you are. I remember most of the people here but I just can't seem to put your lovely face with a name."

She sighed as she took her glass "It's Anna...." She said hoping that he didn't remember her. what had happened in high school had been bad enough she didn't need a repeat performance from him tonight. Anna could still vividly remember sitting outside of the prom crying after he had humiliated her.

"Oh shit! Anna?!" Adam exclaimed. "The Anna from prom? Omg, you look amazing." He gave her a quick glace over. "I remember you went busting out of the doors crying. What was it that happened?" Adam asked as he looked up, trying to remember.

"You should remember.' She said a bit annoyed. "I don't want to cause a scene alright. I knew I shouldn't have come here tonight." She said drinking the last of her water and then starting to head for the door.

Adam went running after her. He grabbed her arm add she got closer to the door. "Do why did you come back then, Anna?" He asked. He couldn't help but look into her eyes.

Anna quickly pulled her arm away "I don't know. I guess I just thought that if everyone saw that I've managed to be successful then I'd feel better about things..."

"Well what do you do now?" Adam asked her. He couldn't help looking at her lovely body as they talked.

"I... Model..." She said reluctantly "I really should go though." Anna said not sure she wanted to be discussing this with him.

"Oh wow," said Adam in surprise. "So you're telling me," he said with some embarrassment, "that I turned down a model?" He looked into her eyes. "Please let me make this night up to you," he offered.

"It's fine. It's the past right..." She said getting more annoyed "I don't want your attention now just because I have a stupid job. I'm sure there are plenty of girls here who will hook up with you." She said as she walked out.

"I honestly feel bad for how I treated all those years ago. How can I make it up to you?" he asked with dine sincerity in his voice. "What if I give you the night you should have had back then?" Adam asked as he held out his hand. "We don't even have to hook up," he told her.

"You don't even remember what you did, do you?" Anna asked "it's too late to fix it anyway. Prom has been over for years now. There's no way you change what happened. Do you really expect me to believe your sorry? You're just sorry it didn't work out for you."

I remember what I did. I told you I'd take you and then I showed up with someone else," he recalled. "And I watched someone who was nice and sweet leave through the same doors you just did, that didn't deserve to because they didn't do anything wrong." He looked at her knowing that he was probably making a small scene. "Tell me what to do and I'll do it. I promise."

"I can't trust you Adam. How do I know you aren't trying to humiliate me again?" She asked "it doesn't matter. I don't have feelings for you anymore."

"You just have to trust me. I promise I don't have anything planned to humiliate you," he told her. "I know I've been a jerk to you in the past - hell, I had a lot of people call me a jerk - and I deserved it." He looked at her, hoping to get another chance, "all I can say is I'm sorry and that I don't deserve a second chance but I want to make up for what I did do to you." Adam turned to walk away, heading back towards the doors.
