Feel free to ogle. That's one reason that they are there. (As an aside, I should've taken a pic of "v" when I rolled her over after completing the tie. I'd disheveled her clothing, as is classic with shibari, and exposed her breasts. The position, tie, and modified shinju all combined to make her breasts really look incredible. Unfortunately the position was more than a bit uncomfortable for her, and I didn't want to take the time to get the camera. And, well, I was sufficiently distracted by then that the camera was not really on my mind

Erm, don't really have a favourite per se. I use different rope for different effects and looks. My most commonly used rope, which is probably the most likely candidate for favourite, is 1/4" solid braid nylon, bought off the spool and cut to specification. It is what I own the most of, and what I do 90% of my ties with.

I also use 5/16" solid braid nylon (higher load capacity), and a solid braid poly rope in 3/8". I have a small supply of crimson dyed Japanese yuta rope courtesy of the lovely rida-chan that I have just started using. It's grand stuff, and looks lovely, but it is a bit more difficult to use, handle, and store, so I'm still getting used to it. I liken the new rope to a fine high-quality tool that I really dig, but is a bit too nice just yet to use everyday. The nylon is just too convenient not to use more commonly.

That said, I've some interesting plans for combing the nylon and yuta rope in the same tie. Some pictures of Lee Harrington's work inspired that, as he likes to blend rope of different textures and make. The effect can be very cool, so I figured I'd give it a shot sometime.

I do want some more hemp/yuta rope in different colours, and I am interested in MFP and Promilla. I'm hoping that certain rope vendours will be at the FFF so I can get hands on their product. Some of the vendours will send samples, and a couple have already forwarded short lengths to me. The ones that do that are certainly in the lead for earning my business. I'm not going to buy rope purely on spec. If I can get my hands on it first, I'm not going to lay money down, period.

The last thing I will say is that, wow, I despise thick rope. The 3/8" derby rope I use was bought because it is black, and it was not terribly expensive. I wanted a different colour rope, and it was available. I dislike that thickness, and refuse to go thicker. The 2 Knotty Boys are fond of 7/16" solid braid nylon, and, while I like some of their ideas, wow, I dislike their choice of rope.

The knotwork is the biggest reason I dislike thick rope. I just don't feel like I get good knots or turns with thick stuff. Looks sloppy and loose, and it's tough enough to get tight looking rope as is.

Yes, this gag is not particularly hard, is totally washable, and, frankly, is cheap enough to be disposable. It can be made with 2-3m of rope depending on how much tail you want to have behind the head. This particular one was done with 5/16" rope, aka 8mm. Mylon, poly, or some other synth fibre rope is a better choice than natural fibre.

I'm a fan of their product. I don't have the patience for dying MFP. I like MFP for static work on people I don't regularly get intimate with - washable synthetics are a pro's BEST friend. I like pretty colors. I like that I can pop some medical toys into the same online order at a good price.

I have a lot of hemp - "working" hemp, my own hemp that I tried treating, a set of red hemp just for me and M, and I've probably ogled, sniffed, poked every product out there. I keep going back to twistedmonk's rope, suck up the price and I'm very very pleased with what I've got.

I do like thick rope, actually, too. But fortunately there are thin, thick, and cord to pick from.

Rainbow rope looks like really cool stuff. Have you used their product? I know you mentioned using MFP, but I was wondering about theirs in specific because, well, their colours are gorgeous.

Yes. All the MFP I've used other than oh shit run to Loews and pick some up rope has been rainbowrope. Love.

It does not hold knots like hemp. The advantages I listed before, but nothing holds a knot like natural fiber.

I noticed that playing around with the hemp. When I slap a bend in there, it stays. Hitches stay. The shit stays tied, period. I like that.
