Sanity saving movies?

Depends.

If I want an intellectual exercise: Serial Experiments Lain or Ghost in the Shell

If I want just something twisted: Jacob's Ladder

If I want comedy: Full Metal Jacket...no wait, wrong category, make that State and Main or Princess Bride or Clue

Otherwise, I've got stuff to get me by.

Mostly though, when it's time for sanity check, I read. Pratchett, Gaiman, Bradbury, and Adams are my current main drugs but I definitely experiment around the block.

If I want a good laugh to restore my sanity, which may or may not have been there to begin with...

Bringing Up Baby, with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn and leopard.

Holy Grail, of course, if you can't laugh at Monty Python you're just dead on the inside and need to be hauled off in a wagon.

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?

Arsenic And Old Lace, another Cary Grant movie complete with homicidal aunts and a cousin who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt.

Office Space, everyone fantasizes about killing the photo copier, but few have the balls to actually do it.

:D

For me, my sanity restorer is Fantasia.

(Wanders off whistling Chinese Dance from The Nutcracker Suite with visions of dancing mushrooms in my head.)

My question is: What other good movies do you use to restore you balance?

Well, good would be a matter of opinion, and...besides...sometimes I get balanced quicker by a really silly or dumb or bad movie...<g>

Ones I use lately would be...Sister Act (either)
Galaxy Quest
Empire Records
Never Been Kissed
Ever After
The Princess Bride

when the kids aren't around....The Wall
Heavy Metal
cheesy drive-in T&A rentals
equally cheesy softporn

There's tons more, in various genres...sort of depends on how I think I need to be balanced...if that makes sense
