Savage Obsession/ Open role call

Brave Hawk

Looking up at the sky watching the sun take over, pushing the night into the west. Brave heart looked in vain for the moon seeing only it's dim shadow that disappeared as the day progressed.

An Eagle was perched in a tall pine not far from him playing the waiting game as the prairie started to come to life below. Patience, Brave Heart told himself as he watched the bird content to remain perched casually preening himself.

The gurgling stream looked inviting and Black Hawk stripped his clothes off and waded in. Seeing a small pool below a cascading waterfall he dove over the edge into it. The cool water refreshed his body as well as his mind as he leasurely swam the distance from one end and back to just where the water cascasded down from above. Ducking under the falling water he shook his head and splashed like a child, forgetting the trials of yesterday for a moment.

The screech of the eagle reminded him of his purpose however as he watched it rise in the sky once more following the track of his prey somewhere on the prarrie floor.

After dressing he gathered up his blankets and packed. Folding the doeskin dress he placed it carefully in a pouch and smiling a bit sadly reminded himself that there would be another time, for now he needed to keep his promise to his father. He mounted his horse and headed east up along the dry river bed knowing that his quarry would have taken this route unable to climb the steep banks that surrounded it. His mind was clear and his resolve to continue the quest his father had set him out on, pushed all of his emotional attachment that he had felt for that brief instant last night into the back of his mind as he moved east.

Jen

IT was dark she was still dazed from the fall. she heard voices she saw figures but she keep fading in and out. one moment she was with Black hawk the next back at the fort what sort of trickery was this what magic was being set out to her brain? had the fall caused her to see things? she could hear voices yet not make the men out

Men scattered all around them as one scatter to get the Doc another ran to alert the captain that His daughter was back in the walls of the fort. Kraft jumped down and ready to carry Miss Randel to ... where ? he looked a round not sure where to take her, he headed to the imfermery or should he take her to the captains quarters or the lieutenants? he stood there as she started to squirm she bolted up trying to see where she was.

"No... NO! let me go please let me go ...........NO!!!"

Her voice echoed out into the night just as officers stared to dash out to Kraft and this wild women in his arms. she was silent against him and limp as the doc ran out to them. Yet still no sign of the captain or Drake.

Ooc: Papillion seems to be away for the moment. For now, it'll just be assumed they made some nice passionate love.

He awoke in the morning, pulling on his pants as fast as he could. Trumpets blared across the dawn sky, awaiting everyone to get word of Jen's fantastic voyage back home.
He ran, shirtless, his trousers half on, to the medicine camp, aware of the men standing slack jawed, unsure what to do. Drake yelled about the morning chores and they each went off.
As he made it inside, he could see her screaming. The poor thing, those damned injuns must have done something terrible to her.
Did they rape her, touch her?
He scooped her up in his arms, hugging his Jen.
"Oh, darling. I'm so happy you are ok."
The doc started to say something, but the look on Drake's face made him find the pile of rags in the corner very interesting.
"What happened dear, what did they do to you?"

Jen

A voice she knew one she recognized as she was brought out that shattered state of mind she was in. She screamed him name over and over as she clung to him not even sure how she made it back to him all she knew was he was here he was holding her and in his arms she felt safe.

" Tom... Tom...Oh Tom.. Tom..."

She felt the rather large lump on the back of her head as Tom ran his hands though her hair softly she winced and whimpered in his arms yet she refused to let go. sobs upon sobs filtered to him . his bare chest soaked with her tears as he tied to get out of her what happened. he wanted to know, he had to know so he spit it out he asked her.

"What happened dear, what did they do to you?"

She sobbed still almost as if she was afraid to tell him what happen. but truly except for the one kiss nothing happened. But she was not about to tell him of that. she couldn't her arms only held tighter to him as she Findlly found her voice.

"Tom. He... He took me. He grabbed me at the well and drug me . tied and gagged to the top of the rise he carried me away. I tried to scream i really didi. I tried to let the man know I was there but he had me to far away...."

she pulled back form Tom she looked into his eyes. she had to tell him he didn't rape her he never did she had to let him know she was still a virgin, still ripe for their marriage bed.

"He didn't Tom I swear it to you, he didn't touch me in that way I never. I never..."

Her sobs about took over again ,as she clung to his chest felling his arms around her tighten, feeling his breath to her cheek as she looked to him. The doctor nodding his agreement from his exam that she was still untouched in that way.

Captain Randel had just rode into camp after being out all night searching for himself . as he heard the commotion the horse almost went thought the medical building in his haste t o get to her. he jumped off his horse and raced though the door kneeling at his daughter bed side just in time to hear her admission and the docs answer. he wanted to pull her from Tom grab her up in to his arms and keep her safe from the rest of the world but he could she was clinging to Tom . Lieutenant Drake was to be her husband so he would let him comfort her. it showed her trust in Drake and his ability to protect and comfort his daughter . Terrence waited stroking Jen's hair, whispering to her he was there and Tom was there she was not alone. Yet in his mind he was rethinking having his only daughter here in this fort after this happened. And thinking it was time for Tom to make his daughter his bride the sooner the better the thought.

"Oh, shhhh, it's all right darling. Don't worry, your safe now. I promise nothing like that will happen again."
He ground his teeth as he held her closer to him, unsure of how in the hell those savages had gotten so close to the camp, but determined now, more than ever to get them.
"We'll get him, we'll get all of them. They will pay for this, savage or no, injuns can hang just as easy as a white man."
Drake gave her a warm smile, kissing her cheek.
"Listen, hun, just rest. I'll be back in just a little bit. You are my fiance, my little angel."
He motioned ofr the captain to join him outside.
"She said it was one of the damned savages. I don't know how, but they must be getting through our patrols again. I want to double the men up, and select a search party to begin finsing where they are, and hopefully rat them out in the next few days. They can't be too far away, she rode there and back in less than a night."

Jennifer and the captian.

The captain nodded to Drake as he moved out to talk to him outside away from Jennifer. He nodded quickly in agreement to Drake, he felt the same thing telling him they needed to know the name of this man that took her.Yes, he would be the one they made the example of. But then again he would take the whole damn tribe and seem then hung at this moment , just seeing the state jen was in. He ordered drake to get things started as he walked back to his daughter.

Jen laid there her eyes closed trying the relax and let her mind settle over all this. Why was she so upset suddenly , why the screaming and sobbing? Yes she hurt her head, but that was from the fall off the horse, not anything Black Hawk did. It made her in a daze sort of loopy, she thought that's why she had that dream about him kissing her. She told herself fear does strange things to a person . That's why she jumped in his arms after the cat almost attacked her.

Terrance Randel saw the look of confusion on her face as he sat beside her taking her hand in his and staring to the beauty he did love with all his heart. the only child he and his wife Caroline had ever had. he would find these fool that dared take his daughter. he would see her married to Lieutenant Drake and settled in the fort behind closed walls . yes she would be safe here, not out in the country side. yes she would be safe but would she be happy was the question, being locked up underguard in this old army fort? he knew she came out here to run free ride and enjoy the country side. well time would tell but now she was under lock and key.

Capt. > "Jenny, I need you to tell me something child, this will be hard on you but we need to know. Where did they take you and who was the man that took you from me? What was his names or any names of any that helped him? Jennifer we really need to know this so he will pay for this."

Jen blinked and looked to her father, she could show them maybe where he took her they where off a while and she did a lot of switching back so not to be caught in her dash for the fort . But the name she didn't want to tell him the name, she didn't want anything to happen to Black Hawk . she wanted to forget about the man , Let him live his life and her hers. Howeve this fact bothered her to why was she now trying to protect him ? She winced in pain as her head again started to pound, but Terrance was demanding and persistent and she was s not one to lye to her father...

Capt.> Jennifer I need a name do you know his name?

She looked up at him an d closed her eyes telling him he head hurt and she really wanted to go to sleep right now. The doctor told him it was not best to question her now her ordeal had been stressful enough and to speak about it now might made a turn for the worsted. being a father Terrance kissed her cheek and stepped out. Yet being a Captain of the US. Army he knew that information while it was still fresh in her mind would help then find this savage that dared to touch one of his own. He trudged away mumbeling to himself as well as to change his cloths and maybe a cup of coffee before dealing with this whole thing.

Captian Randel

He paced about in his office, all knew to stay away from the crashes of furniture being heard and sometimes seen flying out the door of his office. He was well past being angry he was even past furious, he was livd. Some savage took his only daughter did God knows what to her. Now some stranger tells him what and when he can question his own daughter. well that didn't fly very well with him. He needed to know while it was fresh in her mind, the track where fresh his anger was fresh. No saw off little doctor would change his mind this was his army his fort under his command and his daughter.

Captain Randel moved on out from his office with a look of determination written over that angry face. He went straight over o the medical unit and to Jenny's bed side. he took her hand and with that look she knew so well there was no way she would not spill her guts to this man. Ever since she was a child when he gave that look it brought shivers to her spin.

"Now Jenny Girl I know you don't want to talk about it but I need to know so I can get this savage that took you and make and example of him. I want a name?"

Oh she heard his words all right she felt that gaze she looked away but felt his hand to he cheek urging her to look his way his stare intensified to her.

"Papa I can't, The man didn't hurt me. Can't we just forget it can't ya just let him go and forget about it?"

Well, t his set that fire he had in his eyes to a blazing inferno she saw the rage she even felt it.aas he stood up glaring down at her.

"Jennifer Elizabeth Randel I order and, demand that you tell me he name of that savage right now young lady. Or its back to Boston with you today! No, Thomas Drake No here with m e nothing Home to stay with your Aunt till my tour of duties is over and Drakes to."

Her eyes about popped out of her head, she heard that tone and knew he did not make idle threats. It was tell him what he wanted or face the consequences.

Papa no please... Not that I don't want to leave you and Tom please?"

The captain started to tap his foot as the doctor walked back in hearing the shouting he was ab out to ask the captain to leave seeing jen getting all upset again. He was about to release her to go back to t he captains quartos but when the Capt. looked his way he just turned around and stepped outside for another smoke before speaking with eater one of them. The captain shook his head as he took a deep breath in and started to turn. jenny knew it was now or never he was going back to wire he aunt.

"It's Black Hawk... His name was Black Hawk, thetas all I know. I have no idea why he took me or where he was taking me but that's his name and he never hurt me. He saved me... I would not be here if it was not for him."

She blurted out as her father looked on and she explained a bout the wild cat and the knife, yes she left out about how she ran into his arms and how he left her alone to escape. But she told him what he wanted to know. Then captain walked out and shouted orders to get a unit together an go out looking for this back hawk.

Black Hawk

Coming up through the dry run, Black Hawk scanned the rocky ground underneath him seeing, from time to time the scraping on the rocks and an occasional hoofprint that he knew to be from the roan mare that the woman had taken.

As he had surmised she was heading up the dry run and east toward the fort. There ws no hurry as he stopped to pick a few berries and take a drink of water. He saw again the eagle cirling above him riding the currents of the wind letting them suport it conserving it's strenght for when the time was right. He would find her soon enough, by the time he got to her she would be helplessly laying in the sun begging for water. Then the game would start all over again he had plenty of time. His father knew of this waiting game and would not expect to hear from him for days.

A half day later he came to the ridge that overlooked the fort. He was surprised to see that she had made it this far she undoubtedly was a good rider her horse had not thrown her even though she was riding much too hard. Black Hawk shrugged his shoulders and dismounted. He took the pouch that held his dried meat and then feeling the softness of the deerskind dress in another bag took it out and put it next to his face drawing in the scent that lingered on it. he remebered the softness of her body that had been pressed against him that morning and the caress of her kiss. He smiled feeling the arousal that he had felt before letting it linger for a while.

Tethering his horse to a clump of bushes he moved cautiously over the top of the ridge and looking down he saw the dust rising. Eight riders comming from the fort, a half a day away. He smirked they were foolish to start out in the afternoon. In a few hours it would be dark and they would not even be close to where he waited. He smiled again and their quarry would not even be here for he would be on the way to the fort and while they were camped in the desert, he would be sneaking into the fort in the middle of the night after the prize he sought so diligently. He crept down to his horse and headed at a slow gallop in a cirlce that would put him behind the riders by nightfall.

Jen

Jennifer sat there with tears of emotion in her eyes. She didn't understand why she was worried over the man that captured her. this was silly she told herself that Indian didn't care about her and would have killed her to save his own hide, or so she wondered. he never did harm her even asked her for a truce, and now she just betrayed him by telling her father his name. she saw that look and she knew he would be out for blood.

The thundering sounds of hoof beats rushed past her as he looked up seeing a battalion of her fathers best men riding off in search of the brave.

"No ... stop. You can't do this father please..."

her please where unheard as she stood up and hurried to the door of the medical unit she was dress and ready to leave but she hated to return to an empty cold office the back room in his office was not home at all she liked the cabin. she nodded to the doctor as he told her to try and relax all would be find. but how could she why was she worried about Black hawk why not Tom he was out with those men looking for Black hawk or was he here she didn't know she never saw them leave only heard them. she nodded to the doctor and started to walk to the gates they where suddenly shut in front of her Sergeant Kraft told her he was under direct orders not to let her or anyone leave these walls without the permission of the captain she let a heavy sigh as she walked to the office she had a lot to think over while the men where gone ... her father would question her again she was sure but what would she tell him would he get Black Hawk?

"Black Hawk?"
The man nodded, awaiting orders.
"His name was Black Hawk?"
Again, the man could only nod.
"Who in the hell cares. One injuns name is as weird as the others. They all look the same to me, half naked savages trying to rape our women, and live off their own feces. The only good injun is a dead injun."
The private nodded a third time, "Sir, The captain says its important that this be taken care of right away."
Drake sighed. If he pulled a team together now, it would ruin all of the extra security that was now being developed around the fort. He knew how the captain could get though, especially when he began to throw furniture out of his office. Whatever the captain wanted, he got it.
No matter what.
"Ok, ok, take the men who were supposed to do the extra duty shifts tonight. That's all I can spare, everyone else is either doing their own jobs or sleeping. Make it west, we saw some fresh tracks out there, and from the look of the northern ridges, it seems as if they are headed there."
Aye sir," he ran off, stopping just a few steps after he had begun, "Are you coming with us sir?"
Drake shook his head, "I'll be making sure nothing goes wrong here."
The private gave a nod, off already. Within a few minutes the battalion was off, in search of whichever tribe held a savage by the name of Black hawk.
That wasn't even a name... hell it wasn't even a bird, it was a bird and a color.
Who in the hell makes a bird color a name?
Drake went into the small doctor's office, looking at Jen. She was just as pretty as he remembered.
"Hey hun. How is everything in here? You hungry? I brought you some food, just a little stew, nothing as fancy as you could make, but it sure beats bread and water."

OOC:IM BACK

IC: I awoke to find Tom gone from the bed. Quickly I arose and made the fire blaze once again. It was odd.He seemed far off somewhere. His mind at least. I knew it had to be his girl.

I paced my room and started out the window just to catch a glimpse of him. I waved quietly watch him with his men. I knew that tonight he would return to my bed as he always did.

Jen

She started to the captains quarters when Tom stopped her then made her take a seat in the office. Then gave her something, it took all she could do not to burst into tears. She grabbed hold of him and held tight. She was afraid, but for who? Was it for her father, or was it black Hawk she worried? He had the just about the whole fort here after him to seek revenge.

Tom felt her shaking in his arms, as he held her she nuzzled into his arms trying to find comfort. Yet it was still cold, he held her like any other time. She looked up to him she didn't understand what was going on. Her lips lifted to his softly. He returned the kiss but not with the same passion she remember, not the with the same warmth she felt from BlackHawks and this scared her deeply. It was then she noticed it.

"Tom, What is this? "
Her eyes looked to the red lipstick smudge on his collar of his finely pressed and starched white shirt. Thomas Drake never had a hair out of place let a lone a smudge on his uniform. She could smell perfume on him as well. Her eyes looked to him a bit hurt and confused there had to be an explanation.

"I smell a women's perfume to. Tom what's going on?"

She was not panicked, not anger just confused and almost in a daze. So many things whirling around in her head at the moment as she waited for an explanation as the camp started to settle and she thought she heard a female voice in the background. She had not seen any other females at the camp but then again she hadn't been there long either. Her head whirled around as she broke from his arms looking around. She made it to the front door when Drake grabbed hold of her. The camp looked empty her father had taken more men that even Tom expected. the fort was guarded but still not with the amount of soldiers he wished so. She looked up at Tom standing on the porch waiting for an explanation. still not seeing anyone yet.

:rose:

Tom held her back, seeing something of fear in her eyes, or misunderstanding. She wanted to know, deserved to know, but he couldn't tell her. If he had gotten out with the truth just now, maybe, maybe they could work through something. She was a woman of the world after all, and although modern times were upon them, it was still considered legitamate for a man to sow his wild oats before taking a wife.
Still, the way she looked at him. A single element lacking in those dark luster that refleacted the evening twilight. Trust? He thought so, not love... yet, but something close.
"I got up in such a hurry, hearing your return, I didn't see who's shirt I put on," He said, holding it away from his skin now as if the lipstick were poison, and the perfume some sort of maddening disease. As if to prove this, he pulled out the cuff, seeing it barely went to his wrists.
"See, hun, the length is too short for me. It was just something to cover myself so I could see you. One of the men must have a girl around here somewhere."
He went to her again, wanting to hug her, to hold her, to just tell her that everything would be ok, and she didn't have to ask questions.
After all, she was going to be his wife. Wives weren't allowed to ask questions, they nodded and made dinner and cleaned the clothes that he worked in, questioning anything wasn't in that job description. He held her in his arms, wanting her to forget.

Jen

She felt his arms pull her back into his embrace. Her back to him she looked out to the fort trying to see past those gates but they where locked down tight. His arms held her yes, but more imprisoned her then held her tenderly. She felt something yes but not the embrace of a lover, her the man that was to be her husband. It didn't feel like that at all. it was more forceful more demanding, more like claiming what was his.

She took a deep breath and leaned back trying to relax in his arms letting him calm her taking her back to that night in Boston. The night he proposed to her with the roses under the cherry tree in the front yard. She closed her eyes she drifted back to that night she remembered how tender he was how sweet his words flowed out likenewly spun silk. She would have married him right then and there, if not for the army calling him out here. she had to wait. Wait till she was sent for, wait till her father said all was set. well that time is now but then all this happened. she turned to look at him. Her eyes shown up to him the innocents she still possessed.

"Tom, what's happening? I want it to be like it was back in Boston. You use to take me on walks and rides and we would spend hours alone just talking and being together. I want to marry you Tom, do you still wish to marry me? You seem different what happen? Did I do something is it me? Tell me please ?"

At that moment a wolf howled in the distance , causing her to look up then she saw an eagle circling over the fort diving down at something but she had no idea what . She just pressed her head to his chest and waited for his words. yet a name whispered silently from her lips.

"Black Hawk":rose:

Drake felt anger climb up through him. He hated having to be here, stand here as she accused him of being different, of appearing to be something other than what she knew from long ago. He wanted to hit her, smack some sense into that naive little head of hers, and tell her how he was going to be her husband, and she would trust him no matter what.
The anger passed though, as it always did, and a certain calm overcame him. She wanted to be comforted, eased into a sense of happiness, just as all women did. He would play her little game, and wait for the marriage, then lay the law down.
Make sure she knew how he would be treated in his house.
"My dear," his words soft and soothing, music pouring from his lips as he held her close to him, "Things hav changed me. Out here, in the harsh wilderness, with these savages running around. I've had to do things I'm ashamed of, things I can't begin to describe to you. I'm sorry if I appear something different than who you fell in love with. One thing never changed though, the only thing, my love for you. Jen, I have always loved you, even out here, in the middle of this chaotic land, my thoughts of you were the only thing to keep me going."
He took out a wrinkled picture from his shirt, "I keep this, close to my heart every day. Something to remember you by. I know you have been through a lot today, and so have I. We must get pased this though, forget it and move on. Your father goes as we speak to rid our country from these foul demons who took you. When he comes back, we will be wed, you and I. It will be just as you imagine it, and more. We can get some land, settle down in this wonderful paradise, a nice sod house, maybe by a stream with an oak tree where we can lay beside and sit up at nights to look at the stars. I'll love you forever, and nothing can take that away from me."
He kissed her forehead, thinking of the future he had already made for them, already planned inside his own head, set in stone. She would be his happy wife, and do all his happy wife things...
Or else.

Jen

His word sang to her heart his voice seemed to caress her with the same warmth that his arms where causing within her. She leaned against his listening to his explanation. It made sense being an officer out in the army in these barren lands, unexplored lands could change a man. God only knew what he had seen. She started to feel the old Tom with her pulling at her heart strings, and she relaxed and smiled for the first time since she had been back. Turning to him she looked up as she realized all that he had said. Her eyes sparkles in the moonlight, her hand reached up to caress his cheek run though his hair as she stared back to him.

"Wed? When father gets back? You , still do wish to marry me even after all that had happened? Tom ... You are so wounderful to me, forgive me? "

Her head shook slowly as she gazed into these eyes she knew so well, feel his arms holding her safe and caressing her with his own magic. Then her lips pressed up against his , her body pressed against him she kissed him, a kiss like she had never given him before. One of passion, of promise , one of Hope and deep, deep feelings. Her lips parted as she had to catch her breath and she looked to him. The kiss was not the same as when she kissed BlackHawks but, it feel different . Her heart did not leap like it did with him but at the me time , she was jut in a fright and she still told herself it was Tom she was kissing n ot black hawk. Or at least she kept telling herself that.

Tom was her husband to be, not Black hawk. She was confused maybe if she let Tom be the man she knew him to be and let herself trust and give herself to him like a wife should. Then all would be back to normal. She made up her mind and yes, she would marry Tom when her father retuned if he still agreed.

"We will be married when Father returns , I will be your wife. We will live that life you speak of a wonderful life. "

Again she pressed tight to his body holding him and pressing her cheek to his.

Black Hawk

The sun was still high in the sky. Black hawk knew it would be foolish to go near the fort in broad daylight. Only a fool or a whiteman would try to kidnap someone under those conditions. he turned his horse and headed for Little Lost Canyon. He and his friend Two moons had played here when they were youths it had been so much different then he he thought Not a care in the world no white man to bother them, to try to corral them onto the reservations that were set aside for them. All the fresh green grass water and wild game they needed for the simple life they led. No disease and bad habits that came with the whiteman. It had been perfect.

It could be that way again Brave Hawks father had said. If we do something to get the whitemans attention, to make them come to the peacemaking table and bargain. they needed something to bargain with he had said. The white leaders daughter was just what they needed, bring her to me he had said and Brave Hawk vowed he would carry out his fathers plans, even though he wasn't all that sure they would work. He knew times had changed That they couldn't do things the way they used to. He knew that his father had used this method when he delt with other tribes. That they used women for ransom for bargaining power sometimes they sold them as brides to unite tribes and some times they used them as ransom to show thier power. Black Hawk knew neither of these ways would work with the white man but he felt honor bound to his father to carry out his wishes. Maybe the great spirit would intervene before the plan was carried out. Black Hawk hoped so as he knew if they did this thing there would be much bloodshed and most of it would be indian blood. History had proven that to be true and there was no reason why it would not happen again.

Overlooking Little lost canyon, Black Hawk smiled. The perfect place he thought as he gazed down at a little copse of woods that surrounded a quiet pond. the water gleamed in the sunsine it appeared to have no inlet or outlet, but Black Hawk knew it to be fed by an underground stream that came from the north. Hidden river it was called and those that knew of it knew that it started somewhere in the mountains and just disappeared into the ground. From the lake it disappeared again and no one knew where it went. The canyon was small and there appeared to be no way in or out of it. the steep banks of the curved edges were like a huge bowl too steep to climb up and too dangerous to try to cimb down. For this reason no man red or white had ventured into it. The indians thought it to be sacred, that the god lived here to keep from being bothered by mortals and the white man thought it a curious quirk of nature. Too small a place to be concerned with and forgotten soon by any that passed by. That is untill Black Hawk and Two moons had discovered a way in and out.

They had been playing on the other side of the ridge when they discovered a cave its mouth hidden by brush. They had seen a rabbit run in that direction and then mysteriously disappear. The mouth of the cave was just big enough for one man to crawl through and unable to control their curiosity they returned the next day with some rope and birch bark torches. They crept inside. A short way in, the passage got bigger and they lit the birch bark torches they had brought with them. Amazed they followed the passageway excited because they knew it was heading south toward Little lost Canyon. Sure enough they soon saw light ahead. Carefully they made their way toward the opening only to find the way ahead of them blocked by a deep chasm in the floor of the pasasage. ten feet away the path contined but in front of them the floor beneath them disappeared into darkness. Black Hawk lit another torch and dropped it down the hole they watched it fall. It fell for what seemed like forever and then a thump echoed back up to them from what seemed like a hundred feet below. They could barely make out the flaming torch laying below on the chasms floor. they looked across to the sunlit opening and undaunted left the cave only to return with a enough rope and poles to make a bridge. Lashing it together, they lifted it across the chasm and cautiosly made their way across.

It was worth the effort. As they stepped into the light a warm breeze greeted them and the sounds and sights of nature abounded. This was truly the home of the great spirit. White man would call it Shangra-la or Eden. It was beautiful.

I wandered down ffrom my room for a quick stroll. I knew the men were busy but I wanted to greet them. I wandered around near the horses and among the tents stoping to talk to a few as I passed through.

I saw throught the builing as I passed Tom sitting with another woman. I smile hoping he would notice and slowly turned to to leave again. Why intrude where I didn't need to be. I knew Tom would always return to my be. He always did.

The kiss sent shivers through him, a weakness in the knees that only a woman could give him. He never gave an inch in battle, a true man of the sword, or the gun, but when it came to the fairer sex, he considered it a weakenss just like any other.
He wanted to kiss her, run his hands through her hair, make her do all the things reserved for their wedding day, but he knew they shouldn't. She was supposed to stay pure. One almost unfortunate accident had nearly hindered that, and he didn't want a moment of pured passion to ruin what was meant to be.
That was when he caught a hint of Sadie's chestnut hair. She gave a look to him, something almost impassive, but in and of itself, it spoke volumes.
She walked away, just as quick as she had come, but in that he knew a way to satisfy himself. The best of both worlds. The best of all worlds.
"My love," he finished hugging her, planting a sweet kiss on her cheek, "I am sure your father will approve. He will want to have the wedding soon though, perhaps even tomorrow. I know you are still weak from your endeavors. Come, let me take you home."
He picked her up, as easy as a sack of apples, carrying her across the fort to his log cabin sitting amidst two or three others. These houses were reserved for the higher officers. Most of the privates had to share common dorms or tents when the weather permitted, but the men in charge had whole pieces of property to themselves.
He led her inside, a sense of both pride and ownership dwelling within him. As soon as he got her to sleep, he would go back to Sadie... and they would finish what they had started.
"Please, lay down, get some rest. I will be back in the evening, we can watch the sunset, if you'd like. Go out to this little grassy place I know of, bring a blanket, and just lie there next to each other. My dear, my wife, I love you."
He gave her another kiss.

Jen

She felt his arms lift her up as if she was nothing to carry for him. She cuddled into his arms smiling but started to panic seeing him taking her to his quarters and not her fathers. But then his words ...Oh how they calmed her, she only hoped her father would not be upset at where he took her or if others would talk. She didn't really care at this point she was in his arms and now in his bed. Even if only on top. yet still she felt a little wicked at even this plain innocent act. She was young and neieve. But she did hear him tell her he loved her. she knew that she felt it.

When he told her his plans and she smiled liking the idea at night, would it be out side the fort she hoped , she so wanted to get away from these locked confining walls. then her heart did jump hearing him call her his wife . it seemed to spilled so easily from his lips as he said those wprds. she beamed back to him then felt his kiss again not like the last but her hand did caress his chest tenderly gliding over his flesh at the neck of his collar and she made him aware of her feeling and wants for him. She was a women and she wanted him to know it.

"Alright my love. I will rest . I promise but I will dream of this night under the stars with my husband . I will be with you soon Tom. "

She snuggled down into his pillow still his strong male scent embedded in the cloth as she closed her eyes and inghaled deeply , then heard him leave. Yes, tomorrow they could be husband and wife. She would be his fully and no man would even make her leave his bed or home again. No one! not even Black Hawk... Tom would see to that.

Sadie

I made my way back home when I had watched tom take to women to his cabin, the one we had shared on many a night. I turned in sadness as I tried to develope a plan in which would make him mine.

Once home I stoked the fire a bit before relaxing on the bench near the window to continue to devise a plan. I kew of the girl's endevor with the indians since one of the men had told me when I passed though camp. Mybe that would be it. I would have to find the one who snatched her and help him do it again. but that plan would have to wait till the morning.

Captian and / Jen

Captain Randel Rode in tired and hungry but went to the medical tent looking for his daughter not at all pleased to hear of her being carried off to Drakes own personal cabin at all. he slapped his mount as it went to the stables and he marched right up the front porch not even bothering to knock and right in to Drakes cabin. right in to the open bedroom door seeing his only daughter asleep in drakes Bed. Lucky for drake he was no where to be found Terrance Randel was in no mood to foolishness right now at all.

Jen opened her eyes seeing the strips of those army pants standing over her and she smiled thinking it was Tom. Her hand reached out to him closing her eyes stretching in her still sleepy state.

"Are you ready for that walk my darling husband, and that night under the stars in your arms? "

The captain snapped as he hears her and roared out back to her.

Capt.> Husband. In your arms Young lady what are you talking about its me not Thomas Drake. And he is not YET... Your husband Jennifer Elisabeth Randel you here me girl. what is all this about what are you doing in his cabin alone and in his bed! "

He pulled her up to stand she was still fully dressed and on top of his sheets not in them and he was no where around. She took a moment to clear her thoughts and get her words straight as he yelled then stared to her with those big dark eyes of authority.

Father, Tom wanted me to rest so he brought me h ere that's all he is not even here nothing happen don't you trust me? And I thought you where tom I call you my husband because Tom was speaking of asking you if we could be wed right away maybe even tomorrow? After he spoke to you of course."

The walk and laying under the stars well that she would leave out. But he was young once and in love with their mother he would remember he was a strike man a captain in the army he had to be but he was also a loving man a tender father so he did have a warm heart for his daughters feelings. Terrance looked to his daughter and saw the look of a young women in love she spoke the truth and in all honestly maybe it would be a good idea if they where married right away. it would be good for both of then he's had her taken care of and still under his command to a point at least while Drake was still in his army.

Capt.> Agreed... In the morning if Drake and you are ready I will see to it that you to are married. jenny girl I am not ready for all this if your married to the man maybe I won;t worry so much over you . With him looking out for you more maybe I can relax some..."

he grabbed hold of her and held her tight his daughter was a good girl and he even liked young Drake. the marriage now would be good for them all he told himself. with a nod then walked her to the front porch determin that she not be seen in his cabin alone again at least not untill there where married.

Drake stepped into Sadie's room, giving a little smile that she wasn't here yet. The emptyness of the room satisfied him, as he began to undress, leaving his clothing scattered across the floor.
God, he needed her. The feelings that had awakened in Jen's kiss needed to be satisfied, and he wanted Sadie so bad.
They usually tried to go for two, three times a day if things weren't too hectic around here, and playing things safe hadn't been caught by anyone yet. He was nearly certain a few of the officers had suspicions, but they were under Drake's rank, and one dirty look kept their mouths shut.
He laid down on the bed, awaiting her return.

Black Hawk

The screech of the eagle brought Black Hawks attention back to the present as he looked out over the canyon. The bird swooped downward until it almost disappeared from his sight as it perched in a tall pine deep in the canyon, 200 feet below him. He still felt the eagles spirit however and knew that he was telling him that this was a good place to take the woman.

He turned aound looking to the south and saw a lone rider coming. He recognizing Two Moons on his pinto mare. He mounted his horse and rode down to meet him.

Two moons shook his head and grinned at Black Hawk.

"I knew you would be coming here after I heard you lost the woman. She was too much for you to handle? I told you to watch her. Maybe I should take over from here I'm sure I could handle her better than you did."

Black Hawk grinned back, used to his friends goodnatured chiding." I'm sure you could have my brother, but my father has given me this responsibility and besides the game is just starting to get interesting."

"Time for our second plan then." Two Moons replied shrugging his shoulders. He went on to tell Black Hawk what he had learned from Little Star. She was their connection to the fort as she had been assigned to do the laundry and other manual labor for the soldiers and was able to come and go as she pleased. Black Hawk was amazed that the white man felt that women were no threat to them and Little Star played the Part of a submissive slave well while she spied on the soldiers and reported back to her tribe.

The woman had returned to the fort in a very delerious state but she was strong willed and had recovered. Litttle Star wasn't sure where she would be sleeping tonight though it seemed the man who had poken for her had another woman also. Black Hwak was not sruprised at this news it was common for indian men to have more than one woman. This concerend him little what was important was where the woman he wanted would be tonight when he entered the fort.

He told Two Moons to instruct Little Star to guide him with the sound of an owl to the bed that this woman was in hoping to find her alone If she was with her man she must make some sort of a distraction to get him away from her.

"I will watch from a distance behind the fort in a small patch of woods. I will go there now, slowly so that I will raise no dust and pulling a piece of brush behind me to cover my tracks."

"Sounds like a good plan my brother I will go and talk to Little Star. she will be at the reservation waiting for my instructions."

"Ggood luck Black Hawk " Two Moons said as he turned to go north. then he grinned "Do it right this time I'm getting tired of all this riding around I'd rather be fishing you know"

Black Hawk answered back "Or maybe wooing Little Star?"

"Yes, that too but seriously it would be good to have this thing done so that we can go back to living a normal life."

Black Hawk turned his horse to the north and looked to his right at the setting sun wondering if things would ever be normal with the White Men around. It was dark when he settled in his hiding place near the fort.

Sadie

I headed up the stairs from where I sat in the kitchen when I heard tom enter.

I hurried to him. I paused slightly when entering the door watching his as he lay in my bed. I was annoyed a bit and sure that it showed on my face.

"I never knew that you were with someone Tom."As I sat on the edge on the bed.
