Brave Hawk
Looking up at the sky watching the sun take over, pushing the night into the west. Brave heart looked in vain for the moon seeing only it's dim shadow that disappeared as the day progressed.
An Eagle was perched in a tall pine not far from him playing the waiting game as the prairie started to come to life below. Patience, Brave Heart told himself as he watched the bird content to remain perched casually preening himself.
The gurgling stream looked inviting and Black Hawk stripped his clothes off and waded in. Seeing a small pool below a cascading waterfall he dove over the edge into it. The cool water refreshed his body as well as his mind as he leasurely swam the distance from one end and back to just where the water cascasded down from above. Ducking under the falling water he shook his head and splashed like a child, forgetting the trials of yesterday for a moment.
The screech of the eagle reminded him of his purpose however as he watched it rise in the sky once more following the track of his prey somewhere on the prarrie floor.
After dressing he gathered up his blankets and packed. Folding the doeskin dress he placed it carefully in a pouch and smiling a bit sadly reminded himself that there would be another time, for now he needed to keep his promise to his father. He mounted his horse and headed east up along the dry river bed knowing that his quarry would have taken this route unable to climb the steep banks that surrounded it. His mind was clear and his resolve to continue the quest his father had set him out on, pushed all of his emotional attachment that he had felt for that brief instant last night into the back of his mind as he moved east.
