Black Hawk

Black Hawk lookedat her in disbelief He had
thought she would welcome the chance to make peace with her father. He could have given her a horse she didn't have to walk but then that was her and he loved her for that, her independance her spunk and determination. She would bear many children with those traits..... Black hawk shivered "What if she was with child carring his seed in her womb but no it was too soon he knew it could happen any time but he didn't want it to be now there was too much happening . He turned to Little star "Take your horse and circle around come into the fort form the south and watch over her. A look of pleading was in his eyes, Little Star nodded and coming along side embraced him

"Yes my brother I will go." He watched her ride away and then turned to Two Moons.

"You must go to my father tell him what has happened and that we must wait. I am going to the hidden valley to fast and ponder these things that have transpired and things that are to come." He mounted his horse and rode off.

Later ass the sun was setting he looked out over the lake he felt safe and peacefull here hidden in the secret valley. He set up the sweat tepee and built a fire in its center. a bucket of water near a pile of rocks that waited for the fire to heat them. Soon it was hot and steamy in the tepee, and Black Hawk waited for his vision.

For days she stayed to herself stayed in silence hoping her father would come around. he ordered her clothes burns her body scrubbed and washed he demanded she stay in the small room till she came to her scences. her father would not talk about it to her but she heard others talking outside her room one night talking ab out Lieutenant drake saying he was right he said she was a slut and she came on to all men that's why he dissolved the engagement and this proved it if she would spread her legs for a savage she was no better or even worse then the sluts in the fort. she was no slut the only man she had ever been with was Black hawk and the only mans she even wanted to be with was him. she started to refuses to eat but her father did come in that day he forced her to eat and stared to her his eyes softer now more loving and caring it had been nearly three weeks since her return she was feeling ill not wanting to eat missing her mate. Her father saw the sorrow in her eyes saw the look of pain there.

"Jenny girl please, Hun please come back to me. I only want what best for you I want you to be happy. I hate seeing you like this. jenny smile for me." Terrance rankled pleaded with her to be the daughter he loved not his ball of flesh in silence. she looked to him> let the people have there lands let me return to Black hawk then i will be happy Father. i love him can't you see i am miserable it out him. i am making myself sick over not being with him i have not been able to keep anything down since Father i need him."

The captain looked to his daughter it was breaking him to se her like this breaking his heart to see her in pain and longing for a man he could n ot have but what was he to do he was a captain in the us army respected and honored if he let his only daughter go back to the savages what was that telling his men how could he fight them defend his land and fort not knowing if She was with them or her so called husband was one of them. " Damn him damn Black hawk for doing this to you to us," Terrance walked out to stand on the porch to think.

Star rode around the fort she found out the Captain was keeping Jenny nothing but a prisoner in his quarters. he was afraid she would run and he was right she would not even knowing for sure if he would take her back like this he told her to make peace and so far that had not been achieved she did manage to run past the guards as she was sick her stomach tried to hold down the food but she couldn't keep it dawn she retched violently then cried tears upon tears filled her eyes she knew it now knew he was right a child had been conceived she was certain her hand cradled her belly protectively she would keep this scriptae hidden from her father until she was far enough along not to rid her self of it by his or any hand not that she felt he would cause her to but with his hate of the red man she was not sure fully of anything any more will protect you little one i promise" her words a mere whisper but Star was close enough to read her lips as she saw all this unfolding she tried to move in to her but guards where all around jenny she saw a spot a change and en took off running to the break in the gates but two guards block her way and surrounded her shaking their heads just as her father rounded the corner she blinked her eyes hazed over she grabbed to the air trying to grab something and collapsed to the ground at their feet n man would touch her fearing she was with the savages fearing what she might have contagious till her father rushed in and carried her to the imfermary where he would find out for she was with child. a child of a savage the same man that caused al t his took his little girl pulled her from the family the home she knew and loved but yet one that called to her heart one she loved so deeply she would leave all this to go to even against his wishes.

Star took off riding hard heading to the valley looking for her mat and brother to tell of what she had seen to report to him. knowing they had to get her out of there but it was Blacks Hawk choice his decision

She rode in and rode hard she ran straight to the lodge of her mate Shouting from her love and found both. Two moons and Black hawk inside talking as she ran in.

"I saw her ... she needs you Black Hawk Shinning moon needs you now, They took her to the white mans medicine man ... she hurt... " Two Moons grabbed her by the shoulder b oth and shook her lightly to calm he had never seen her so upset. " What is it Star tell us?" Black hawk bolted to her side radge and anger filled his eyes hearing she was in trouble hearing she was hurt

"Tell me Star what happen to my women!" Black Hawk shouted already to run on that mount and take off to get her. Concern and a spark of life flicked in his eyes hearing his own was in trouble. as Star hugged to WO moon s then looked to Blackhawk.

"She is with child. Your child she has been she has been trying to hide it but her father found out today she collapsed she was trying to escape. tying got get back to you im sure of it. i heard her call out to you just before she collapsed. her father took her to the white mans medicines tents. i don't know what happen all i know was that her father found out and was not happy im not sure about the child Black hawk... But I know she needs you."

Black hawk looked to her a glimmer of hope of their love flickered there as he heard the news she carried his child and tried to protect it and come to him but now he had to get to her to his unborn babe. And he would" two Moon come with me we will bring home my women and child this night we ride!"

Star looked to two moons and jumped on the back of his mouth ridding out white him they would need her help in getting Shinning Moon b ack to them safely. She hung on tight but pulled him back as Black Hawk started out to the fort.

"The child needs to be protected ... and so does its mother... i wish our child to be good friend with black hawks after all theirs will be older then ours:; she smiled to him as he looked to her knowing what she was trying to say and pulled her to the front and rode on yet kept a protective arm about his mate and unborn with a grin keeping there news till Blackhawk had his family safe in his arms as well,...

Jen laid quietly as her father held his daughter in his lap stroking her cheek rockign her like she was a new born babe herself. now she laid in her arms expecting a childof her own how could this be how could he let this happen how could she have gone to that savage to let him lay with her . did he force her to his filthy mats did he force her to lay with him ... no she said she loved him she was trying to protect him she wanted to go to him but now what was he to do this was his only child his daughter he loved her more then life it self and he wanted her safe from harm but now all would know she carried the child of the red savge that tried to claim these lands they might harm her or the child she carried he would not leave her side he would not let any near her... he tried to think what to do what she could do could he get her to Boston with his sister would the child have a change would eh forgive him would he hate him . if was afaurd to send her back to the indians not knowing what they would do to her child being part white he sat there rockign her and confussion set in as she whimpered under his arms a whisper left her lips::

" Black Hawk.... my love..."" then sleep over took her from the medacations.

Black hawk

As they neared the fort Blak hawk pulled his horse to a halt and signaled the others to do the same.
"We must have a plan." he said when they had stopped. "It is foolish to rush into the fort without one. The soldiers will be ready for us and we will all die needlessly.' His friends agreed and they dismounted Black Hawk was nervous because he had not received a sign during the time he spent in the sweat house. he needed the power of the great spirit to lead them.

Above them an eagle soared circling. They all looked up at the same time and watched it's flight. Then they saw on a ridge not far from them a rabbit hiding in the sagebrush.. The ground around it was bare, but not far off his burrow lay. They knew if ther rabbit ran the eagle would strike. but if the eagle moved too soon the rabbit would have the advantage. They both played a waiting game. "That is what we must do play the waiting game Black Hawk said sollemly. if we rush in they will kill us or spirit her away to some safe place. We must wait for them to make the move.

"But how long two moons asked, how long must we wait."

"At least until nightfall, they will not travel after nightfall. then we will strike when most of them are sleeping."

They waited until nightfall watching the Fort as horses and riders came and went. Just as the sun was setting Two Moons looked up in alarm. There was a cloud of dust barely descernable in the distance. Soon a regiment of soldiers waited at the entrance to the Fort.The gates opened and a coach appeared from inside. Blackwawk groaned. "They are taking her away. We are helpless to do anything. There are too many soldiers to overcome. I'm sure Shining Moon is inside it. Little Star you must go and find out we have to make a new plan. Hurry!"

Little Star mounted and rode into the fort. A short time later she came back, her head hanging in dispair, "Black Hawk, you were right she is gone they told me she is on her way to Boston to live with her sister."

"NOOO!!!..." the sound echoed out in to the cannon as he heard the news it was to late she was gone ... to this white eyes city in the north or was she gone from him he would not allow it she was his she carried their child he would get her back and now. he set off on his own to stop that coach not thinking his love and pain fear and passion all running though his mind and heart his love was being taken from him his child. His friends followed behind him calling to him to stop this would do no good to any of them now they had to think not run off like this.

The decision was made Jen had no say in the matter her father told her either you go back to Boston or you give up that baby right here and right now he knew she would not give it up he saw the love she had for this man but his soldiers would lose respect to him for his daughter to have a baster injuring child. and he was not about to let her go back to the very place he intended to raid and kill all there as soon as he got the break he wanted. or at least the was what he told himself. so off to Boston to have her baby then she would come back and find Black Hawk and hare her life with him if she could find him she was weak broken and sad she so loved the man but feared for the live of her child in that fort she gave up and off to Boston she was taken

the rode was rough and hard dusty and curling the lands had a deep drought going on even the soldiered talked about leaving she feared they would alone with the natives and that way losing her only love. She fell asleep tears staining her cheeks not hearing the thundering hoof beats of Black hawk and two moons riding along side his friend a plan had been formed and Black hawk looked determined to get her back.

Black Hawk. and Two Moons

From a distance they followed keeping to the rocky ground where their horses hooves would not raise dust. Black Hawk knew this area well he had ridden across this stretch of desert many times as a youth before the whiteman came and built the fort. To the east lay the town of Lonestar, where he had watched from a distance as the town was being built. He could never understand why the whiteman needed to crowd so close together and make so much noise. He would rather live in solitude close to nature. The white men pushed nature away from them as they built their town cutting down trees and digging up the soil. But Black Hawk watched knowing that he could learn much by observing even if he didn't like what he saw. The same as if he were observing a polecat. He might not want to live near one but he still studied its ways.

He halted his horse and drankdeeply from the flask at his side. Handing the water to Two Moons, he said. "I'ts seems to be hotter this season than last, do you supose were going to have a dry spell like our great grandfaters talked about."

Two moons shook his head, he couldn't understand how his friend could be so nonchalant chattering about the weather when his woman was being taken from him. Furthermore he worried about Little Star now that he knew she carried his child. when they got back he would forbid her to go the the fort she would stay with him so that he could protect her and her baby.

"Don't worry brother." Black Hawk said seeing the look of concern in Two Moons eyes. "We will get her back soon and return to the village." He pointed to the east. "Not far away a halfdays journey is the whitemans town of Lonestar. That is where they are headed they will be afraid to camp on the desert tonight and will not travel after dark so they will stay in that town where they think they are safe. When they are in twon they will let down their guard and we will spirit shinng Moon away, I have a friend in town who will help us. He and I used to play in the woods behind the town even though he is white he prefers to live close to nature. He sleeps in a shack on the outskirts of town. He is shunned by his fellow man because he is different. They say his mind is not right and they are afraid his condition might rub off on them. They don't realize how much he knows because his speech is slow and his eyes seem to look right through you. When I first met him as a youth I was amazed at how he understood the animals and the birds around him and that they understood him too. The townspeople called him the village idiot but I gave him the name 'Bright Eagle' because he could see and hear what I could not. When we get to the town tonight we will visit him and seek his help.

Aha, I remember when you used to sneak away for several days. Are you sure he will know you.

Yes we were very goood friends back in those days he would never forget.

The coach bound around over the ruts and packed dirt. Jen held tight to her belly that started to show sighs of a babe under her heart just barely but only if one knew to be honest. she sat in that seat tears stinging her eyes till no more would flow she sat exhausted waiting fro her life to end as she knew it then the sound of the wagon master telling he they would be stopping fro the n ight at the town of Lonestare. she knew this was the last town for a long time and she would need this rest if not for the babe she would bolt and run for it heading back to her believed but even form here she was not sure if she could make it or not but with a child growing in her belly there was no way would she risk it.

A strange man opened the coach door as they stopped he looked to Jennie and offered his hand . " Your here missy, might as well make the best of it, this is all we got take it or leave it." bob Everheart grinned a toothless smile to Jennie as she took his hand and climbed out. looking around. Who your looken for missy.... Anit no one around here for miles ya know?"

Jen Blinked she had not told the man she was expecting to see anyone or had she ralized she was looking fro anyone but in truth she was looking fro Black Hawk. This man he was a strange bird she felt. " thank you sir is there a room near where i can rest and freshen up ... the old bird sent her to the salon not the upscale ways that her form of dress shown b ut clean and the only accommodations there was in Lonestare. ... the men driving the coach talked about how good that one looked and if she had not been an captains daughter they would have stayed out in the road and had themselves some fun but where paid handsomely fro her safe return with a promise of three times there salary if she go there on time and in one piece

Black Hawk and Two Moons.

It was almost dark when they aproached town letting their horses walk at a slow gait so as not to raise dust. They stopped on the outskirts near a clump of willow trees not far from Bright eagles shack. Dismounting they hobbled their horses and walked the rest of the way to the shack.

Black hawk was just about to give a special owl hoot to Bright Eagle knowing that he would remember it from their youth. Just as he put his hands to his mouth he heard a noise behind him he looked around and there was Bright Eagle grinning at him.

"They told me you were coming my brother". He looked at two Moons welcome my friend any friend of Black Hawk is a friend of mine. he led them both toward the dim lantern light of the shack.

"How did he know it was us?" Two Moons whispered to Black hawk,

"The spirits told me." Bright Eagle said having overheard Two Moons ask.

Black hawk shrugged his shoulders "It's beyond me how he knows." he said to Two Moons.

"I heard that." Bright Eagle said chuckling. "Come in, come in. What brings you here to my humble home." He pulled up a couple of crickety chairs for them.

Black hawk grinned. "I thought you knew everything my brother, did they forget to tell you why I am here."

Bright Eagle cocked his head I think it has something to do with the stage that came into town not long ago. But I'm not sure what would Black Hawk want with a red headed white woman?"

Two Moons grinned "What indeed." he added.

They soon settled into a warm conversation, Black Hawk explaining his mission and Two Moons embellishing. Bright Eagle listened intently and then replied.

" And you need my help brother." he said softly. if indeed you love this woman and she is carrying your child then I must help."

The plan was made. they all knew that in a few hours most of the stage guards would be drunk or with one of the local ladies of the night. There was only one place that Shining Moon could stay so it would be easy for them to find her but Bright Eagle would need to let her know they were coming for her so that she would not be alarmed when they came.

"Take this Hawk feather." he said. "Shining Moon will know it is mine, she will know I am here when you show it to her." He gave the black feather to his friend. Now we need to rest, it will be a long night.

Jen sat in the room it was dusty and dirty but the best place in town from what she had divulged from her short walk through town. at least it was inside and out of that stage and away from all those men. she moved to the basin and poured the water into it and removed her gloves and pulled the pin to her hair as it tumbled down her back freely and she started to wash up. her hand pulled to the dirt vest that covered the once starched white blouse now dull and dingy with the road dust and dirt from the trip. even her face looked paler or was it the trip and the dust she opened the first few buttons on that collar as she started to wash up. she gave a sigh as she felt the cool water washing away the dirt wishing it had the power to wash a way her problems she had looked all over the place trying to find a place to run to get back to her love yet they stared at her all the time an eire stare to one that cut right through her did they all know?

"Oh Black Hawk how do I find you i need you love"

Her words a mar whisper but spoken aloud as she heard the door open a crack and she jumped. The voice sounded out to her as she pulled the wash cloth over her neck and chest.
"Miss Sandal the men are waiting fro you to come down and join them fro dinner. i was sent by
the lieutenant he said he is an old friend of the family and would be honored if you joined him at the head of the table"

She nodded and told the man she would be right down. not that she wanted to join any but she wanted that man out of her room and wondering ho he got in the locked door then heard the jingle of keys hanging from his belt. even here she was not safe she felt. she hurried and washed up changed her clothes into a dark riding skirt and plain pale blue blouse nothing fancy rather plain really but clean she was not here to impress anyone. If it was not for the babe she would not even eat but she knew she had to keep up her strength.

She moved down the stairs hearing the man talking about till her boots hit the lower landing and the lieutenant stood up and moved to her as she brushed some cobwebs from her skirt looking to the floor till she heard that voice.

"It is good to see you my dear. I see I did not have to drive you out of town you did so quiet nicely on your own."

She held her breath feeling his hand place her own on his then that shiver ran through her as she stared to pull away and he whispered in her ear.

" run and I will take you right here on these steps fro all to see and then let them have what is left of you once I get done with what I used."

The voice of Thomas drake echoed into her ears a she saw an old older stranger walking in carrying this black feather. her eyes a blaze in fear seeing Drake again and being in his cae she knew her father had no idea he would be in this town or near her. But here he was, already half drunk but still here.

BlackHawk

Bright eagle stood in the corner of the room watching the scene in front of him. Black Hawks woman had been approached by a uniformed man wearing the insignia of a luetenant. bright Eagle sneared he maybe an officer he thought but he sure wasn't much of a man he looked to be quite drunk and his facial features sugested he had nothing but contempt for the woman. As she looked around furtively he thought she caught his eye and the hawk feather he had in his hand. As they moved toward the table he noticed the womans resistance but she unwillingly let herself be led to a chair and sat down. he moved closer. wanting to catch the thread of the conversation. The men were fawning over her and rightly so she was a beautiful woman. Bright Eagle could see strength and courage in her eyes even as she seemed tired and afraid for her life. He saw the man with the key ring and realized he had the keys to her room upstirs He needed to get those keys to Black Hawk but he knew to wait till the time was right. The meal was served and the men wolfed down the food and beer. Moving to the back Bright Eagle aproached a serving girl he had befriended in a time of need. "Elva, he said quietly I need a favor take this feather to the table and lay it near the womans plate. catch her attention and say it is from a black Hawk." That he is here for you tonite.

The girl took the feather and did as she was told He saw the womans face light up when the girl spoke to her. he also saw the luetenants face turn ashen grey when he saw the feather. The man looked around frantically and then smiled an evil smile. He must know of Black Hawk, Bright Eagle thought I must take care of him before the night is through.

The saloon girls were making their way down the stairs they were dressed to kill hearing that there would be soldiers with lots of money in town tonight. Each of them picked out a man for the evening. Bright Eagle met one at the bottom of the stars and handed her a twenty dollar gold piece her eyes brightened as he explained it was from the luetenant and there would be more at the end of the night. She loosened her bodice and pincheed some color into her cheeks and her bossom before she walked to the table. All eyes turned her way as she made her way to the luetenants side.

Jen held her breath seeing that feather she knew where it came from and what it meant he was near and she knew it and. She would get to him so how. then she looked to Drake seeing his face he knew to the look o terror mixed with disgust filtered over his steeling dark eyes he grabbed Jen thrusting her from the chair to his lap now:

"You Savage Slut... " he drew back a hand and slapped her hard so much so her head bounced back and a hand came to her cheek in shock. "You bring your redskin lover here to slotted innocent men women and children ... DID YA!"

She stared in disbelief but be fore she could answer he pouched on her pressing his lips to hers forcing her to taste his kissed his hands violate her form grabbing at that bodice trying to pull those breast free as she struggled against him finally biting down hard on his lip tasting blood. He pulled back and spat to the ground again lifting a hand to slap her again but this time. It was then Moan made her move She loosened her bodice and pinched some color into her cheeks and her bosom before she walked to the table. All eyes turned her way as she made her way to the lieutenants side.



"Well, now Little solider boy why would you want that pole cat when you can have this wild cat in heat" she purred into his ear, rubbing that loosen bodice against his hand he hand she now grabbed mid swing holding it to her breast trying to help the lady and her self some.." i don't bite i might scratch a little but only is yea want me to and i'm willing..."

Drake eyed Mona right away and he pushed Jen to the floor of his lap. " take her to her room boys lock her up I will deal with her later I like top choice first on my list then when im done I may come back fro seconds."

Two privates shook their head to the leutentent but had to follow orders taking Jen to her room she was in tears but had hope because she still held to that feather. " I'm sorry mama but orders are orders and he out ranks us but this will be reported back to the Captain you rest here ... he will be busy with that one down there a while I'm sure and then to tired to come after you we leave in the morning."

the man left after he shut and locked the door she threw herself on the bed and sobbed. " Black hawk ... oh I need you ... hurry..."

Bright Eagle returned to his shack where Black Hawk and Two Moons waited. He told them of the events at the tavern and that Shining Moon was locked in her room.

"But if the room is locked and guarded how will we get her out safely." Two Moons asked. Black hawk smiled. "Don't worry brother, Bright Eagle has a plan."

Bright eagle chuckled a warm feeling came over him knowing that his indian brother trusted his wit and inginuity even though his own kind thought him to be an idiot. " fixed the door while the soldiers and the woman were downstairs so that it does not lock properly. If you lift as you push it will open easily. The woman knows you are coming and the guards are busy being entertained. Most are too drunk to even ride much less shoot straight.

"That may be so." Two Moons added. "But we still must use much caution. I have.. ahemm...procurred an extra horse for shining moon our mounts are rested and ready to ride. We must make the most of the time we have."

"I agree." said bright Eagle amicably. "I will lead the way through the back door when we are ready. Two moons will wait with the horses and help shinning moon to mount, remember she is with child we must ride fast but not long" there is a cove of woods near the rim of the canyon. I will come behind you and brush out your tracks Black Hawk taught me well even as ayoung brave. Then when you are safe in the cove. I will leave you to backtrack if anyone is following I will divert their attention in a different direction."

I will backtrack also said Two Moons the fewer tracks in one direction the better."

Black Hawk looked at his friends and took their hands sollemly knowing that they were risking their lives for him and Shining Moon.

Together they made sure the horses were ready and they walked them quietly to the back of the tavern. "Good by" my brother Black Hawk said "We will meet again soon i,f you ever get tired of the wehitemans ways join us, my father would be proud to have you in his tribe."

Bright eagle led Black hawk up the stairs to Shiing Moons room He went back down to guard the entrance to the dance hall. Blakc Hawk did as he was told, lifting the door and pushing. It didn't make a sound as it opened and Black Hawk grinned when he smelled the odor of pork lard coming from the hinges. His friend had thought of everyhing. He went to the bed to wake Shining Moon to find her dressed and ready to go, wide awake waiting for
him.

Shining moon

Jen laid on the bed dress and ready to leave a small bag of her most precious possession that she could carry and a change of clothes was all she had hidden under the bed she laid on she knew he was coming fro her but when and who would be the next to come through that door. Would he be in time or would Drake find her after he was done with that bar whore?

The moments trued in to hours or so it seems really only a full ten minutes past when she felt the draft of the door as it opened not a sound but the door opened she knew it then felt a presence. A hand slowly press to her shoulder against the blanket she had pulled over her to conceal her clothing... She smiled she knew that touch know that scent it could be no other. she drew in a breath and smiled looking up into the face of her love. Black Hawk had come fro her as he said he was here she sat up to cry out his name. Quickly he pressed a hand over her mouth to silence her as that smile bunted her soul he pulled her to her feet and hugged her wrapping his arms around her feeling her warmth greeting him once more exhaling her scent and soul in that quick embrace. both wanting more but knew they had to flee... she stopped only long enought to grab her bag she had hiden and then nod to him she was ready.

He moved with her out the back as planned Jen saw the man that looked so strangely to her when she first arrived he said not a word only smiled with a nod to both of then as Black hawk helped her to the mount and moved in to the saddle himself he looked to her.

"Hold tight ... We ride fast to flee this place then i will slow when we reach safety my woman and child will not leave my side again"

On that he kicked his mount and slapped Jen's as they took off heading to the cove all plans in motion. She beamed to her friend happy to see Star and two moons but her heart cried out to Black Hawk and she felt that stirring in her belly again at just seeing him feeling safe and wanted again was a wonderful feeling They raced to the clearing all knowing what had to be done. Black hawk had a smirk on his face not a word spoken yet but his heart was full he looked with pride to his woman and glanced down to the belly that he knew carried his son or daughter a new found pride raise din his as he knew he would keep his woman and child safe at all times and show her the love he felt fro her when the time was right now they had to make it to safety for all there sakes.
