Saving Dead Dog OOC

I am off, but Ms. Kay and I won't get picked up for an hour. I will be phone posting, so if anyone gets hives from typos and odd gramatical errors, you might want to read it later tonight, after I edit it.

I have my own post almost ready to upload. I hope you do not mind having a vampire as a companion, up to the usual tricks of the race (hypnotism, speed, strength, transforming into a bat, some modest but special requirements in nourishment...).

WOW, the mistakes in my post are painful and many.... you might say legion. Seriously, it needs editing, which I will do after dinner. It is only half of Mika's story. The rest will come later, since my thumbs are getting tired.

Considering Vine has smite evil as a racial ability... this'll be interesting.

Katamari, I am pleased that you have joined the game. Thank you. We could really use another guy, if anyone knows someone, but I am happy to be in a game with three good writers. I will be on later to fix my aweful post, but we are watching happy, crappy Christmas goodness.

Ele- I appreciate your ability to use the environment and NPCs in your posts in a way which makes reading your posts a visual experience and which shows an understanding of the NPCs. Your writing feels real. It makes the town, the pub and the residence have a sense of reality. That is so cool

Cherub- Your first post did a great job of showing the inner workings of your character's mind and heart. If feel that I "know her" and would know how to write for her, if she was assigned to me. That is not always true of my own characters at first, so that is awesome.

Kata- Your...... vamping is hilarious. Your completely amoral and self centered character is so very chaotic evil. To quote Mae West, "When I'm good, I'm very good and when I'm bad, I'm better." I believe it will be fun to see what the Hell she does next, wrong, but fun.

O.K., I have fixed my post, correcting spelling, typos, horrible offenses against grammar and God only knows what else. I added a few words in here and there, where things felt weak, or did not make sense to me.

Kata, your post stated that your character could see Mika and Aeshallyn having a "discussion". Aeshallyn was poking her head into the door of the back room. and Mika was in that back room. To make this all work right, I added the following to my last post:

His voice was a gruff bass and built slowly like far away thunder. "I think someone told you wrong little lady. If there is a job here that needs to be done, that job has already been spoken for." He peered out at her from beneath his thick, hairy brow.

The woman opened the door wider and stepped into the doorway with an indignant look on her face. Behind her, he saw the main door of the pub open and a woman step through, shrouded in a long black cloak. Whoever she was, she started to make a play for his job also!

“I believe this town has been attacked by creatures of the forest, and that you will pay to have that nuisance dealt with?”

That should take care of it, but it means that the "discussion" is spilling out into the pub! Dare we hope for a brawl, or will everyone be very mature about it? Only time will tell.

I missed your P.S. and P.P.S. the first time around. Katamari did fine, creating a character designed to cause trouble. :D

Don't worry if something contradicts my "vision". I am not Steven Spielberg. I only come up with a vision, when someone asks me a question like "How does magic work?". The details of the world are all coming off of the top of my head, though I do try to keep some sort of consistency.

P.S: Just read the whole thread and noticed that it might seem that I stole Katamari's character concept and twisted it around a bit, but let me tell you that is not true, it is a sole invention of my own unoriginal mind.

P.P.S: Also noticed that the part about the Elves that I made up in my post might contradict Freak's vision. If so I will have to edit.

I am off to bed folks. Good night.

P.S. (See, I can do it too.)

THEME SONG FOR THE GAME: (Your votes will be counted.)

Hail And Kill - Manowar (If you like theatrical heavy metal)

OR

Enya - Boadicea (If you like pretty, quasi Celtic stuff)

Just curious, is there a chance Aeshallyn knows what race Vine is? She has gotten around a bit, after all. Or is this a unique creation of yours?

Just a quick point here: Kemna is wearing a thick cloak that covers her body completely from neck to feet. The idea is to wear it over her dress.

Brothers in Arms.... A nice slow jam which makes me want to go to an outdoor music festival on the waterfront down town, buy fried food from a cart, drink a big warm beer with a straw and watch the girls in their cut-off jeans.

Be Aggressive- Oh fuck, how did they get those pictures of me in high school, before I started lifting weights and grew a beard... You bastard.

Heigh Ho- Don't fucking tempt me. I am the sort of person who has a video collection containing Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid (who is so hot) and Oliver and Company on the SAME shelf as Pulp Fiction, Evil Dead II and Harold and Maude. I am waiting for Disney and Tarantino to do a project together.

Besides, this is my fucking game, and this is our Video: http://youtu.be/O-6x7zoiDhY

Anyway, I am going to work on fixing the cast list information and I have been discussing the rules with a few of you, so I will be posting something about that in a few minutes. After that, I may post and then there is a crap load of Honey Do items on my plate for today. (Can you say someone's dog was sick on the carpet last night and now I am home alone with a steam cleaner?)

Brothers in Arms is only slow and comfy and cozy until you pay attention to the lyrics. Then it becomes very depressing. At least for me.

Which is why I thought it might fit the intended gritty mood.

1. Eleiscion, who was the first to join, has consented to be my aide-de-camp. If she is around, and I don't answer a question with in twelve hours or so, then what ever she says stands. If I am MIA for a few days (which I will tell you before had unless there is an emergency in RL) then she, as she is able and without any pressure to perform, will be in charge. Still, I am not about reigning in anyone, or telling you what you can not do. We are a co-operative story group and not a dictatorship. Unless you are having a troupe of munchkins wearing speedos perform a kick line to Hey Ya, while we are trying to be earthy and such, then everything should be fine. The following ideas were ones that she threw out to me as possible ways to go, and I really like them.

2. We have four people in the group. (I would like to have ONE more, and hopefully that person would be a male or play a male.) To keep from out distancing anyone in the group, since we all have real lives, I am making a rule that we each only post once per day, per character. This will keep those of us with busy lives from getting behind and getting frustrated. I know that this will seem limiting to some faster posters (not me... no...) but it is for the best. This won't be a strictly enforced thing where you need to wait until the witching hour before you can post, but just be sensible. If it has been eighteen hours and everyone has had a chance to respond, go ahead a post. I am running two player characters though, so I may post once per day for each, or may alternate days between them depending upon our pace.

The goal is not to get to the finish line, or get there in a certain time period, but to have fun.

3. I am going to start setting real world time limits on certain scenes. For instance, we could play out the drama in the pub for weeks, but we would never get to the game. I will give you an example.

As of 12:00 AM Central Time, this Saturday the 17th, we will be done with the recruiting scene. At that time, there are two options.

A. We cut to the night that the group stays in the inn, allowing for overnight room swapping and such, but we set a time limit on that as well, of say a week of real time, but I am open to suggestions. This could also include some characters having late night drinks, late night tub soaks or slipping of to suck the blood of some poor villager.

B. We cut to the group entering the forest and trying to track down the nest.

Either way, you can back post at the beginning of your post events that were not finished up, but you need to finish your post in the new setting.

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

There's so many different words
So many different songs
We have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the sun's gone to hill
And the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

Wow.... You are right.... My last suggestion was a joke, by the way. The whole theme song thing was not really serious, but your suggestion is probably the best one, now that I really read the words.

I think I know what inspired you to start imposing time limits, but honestly I do not feel this is a good idea. We should all be mature enough to advance the plot at a reasonable pace without them, maybe with the occasional OOC reminder. And if we are not, then time limits will not solve this but rather create awkward story gaps.

And I would hate it if that nice overnight scene came to an aprupt end because I spent too many of my allotted posts on the buildup rather than the actual execution.

So maybe change 'limit' to 'recommendation'. Meaning we should get there in time, but if some nice arc is not completely finished we will do that before going on, and everyone will do his best to not produce unnecessary delays.

I do like the one post per day limit, though. Maybe we can soften this up if the group branches out, like in the previous overnight example, but that is not even necessary.

We could just make sub-threads for the sex. Fade to black in the main thread and open a new one for those scenes.

O.K. That is reasonable, but if a scene starts to go on and one, I will still say something like "How about we try to finish this by Sunday, or there abouts?" I can live with that. Also, if anyone feels the need to move things long, then can also suggest it.

>>Katamari Roller We could just make sub-threads for the sex. Fade to black in the main thread and open a new one for those scenes.

We could do this, which would allow the story to continue, but the back and for of sex to go at the pace of those posting. In that case, the once post a day thing would not be important.

I am not set in stone on the one post a day thing, and I won't police it, but I just want to make sure that we don't lose players to over posting.

ANYWAY! We all agree to be mature, to be reasonable, and that I can stop making arbitrary decision now! I have updated the Player Character list at the beginning of the OOC, I am going to go write a post, and then I am going to start being useful around the house.

O.K., I am going to start the list I need to finish, but I may be around much later tonight.

St. Fornicate is going to submit a wizard, and complete our group! I know you will all be glad to have another male around. I know I will be, being human and all....

After his character is submitted, I am going to close applications.

My last post was... self indulgent, but I really, really wanted to write it. :D

Okay, got him in there.

I'm going to go with a mix of old-school D&D magic and new. What i mean is that simple magical tricks are easy, and he can do them at will. More complicated spells will drain him of energy. He must be careful, lest he drain himself completely.

I'll be revealing more details about him in posts to come, rather than all at once.

Welcome. :) I will read your post in a bit, but I am still working on the dishes and such. A parent's work is never, ever done. Don't have kids early... seriously.
