Say it with Lyric's...

The ship was the Pride of the American Side...

Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
With a crew and good captain well seasoned
Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
When they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ship's bell rang
Could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'?

The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the captain did too
T'was the witch of November come stealin'
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the gales of November came slashin'
When afternoon came it was freezin' rain
In the face of a hurricane west wind

When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin'
"Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya"
At seven PM, a main hatchway caved in, he said
"Fellas, it's been good to know ya"
The captain wired in he had water comin' in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when his lights went outta sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

(side note, I remember watching a Documentary on this and I believe the Captain's last words to the ship that was behind her was, "We are holding our own," just before they went under. After being asked about the issues they were having.)

The Rakes Progress

What do you do when your roots have dissolved and broken down
And the soil that you grew in when you were small
Has become nothing more than dirt in some dirty town
When you list all the qualities that you despise
And you realise
You're describing yourself

And breaking someone up inside
Is your only source of pride

Don't stay awake for too long
Don't go to bed
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head
I'll get you up and going out of bed
And I promise that one day I'll feel fine
And I promise that one day I'll feel alright

And I'll make a cup of coffee
With the right amount of sugar
How you like it
And I'll make a cup of coffee
With the right amount of sugar
How you like it
How you like it

....So take the train today and don't look back again
Live the dreams you have, don't dwell on what has been
Your future's brighter now, there's brighter days ahead
Any sad farewell words, better left unsaid

Dreamer, I know what you're thinkin'
I can see it in your face
Maybe before you were happy
But now your thoughts aren't of this place

Maybe before you were happy
But now your thoughts aren't of this place

I only wish you were with me
Someone like you can't be replaced.

...You ask yourself
When will my time come
Has it all been said and done
I know I'll leave when it's my time to go
'Til then I'll carry on with what I know

Life is so strange
Destination unknown
When you don't know
Your destination
Something could change
It's unknown
And then you won't know
Destination unknown....

I could tell you all about what's next
if I could make it clear
Or to complicate the text
what would you hear then

I'd tell you about my cause
cause you know about my flaws
Tell you I've no reason why I'll
tell you about my head
but you know what instead
I'll tell you when your answer comes in time.

I was taken I was left in doubt
but did not see
All out in tune and so without
I could not breathe then
chorus
It's All In Time, It's All In Time

I was taken I was left in doubt
did not know
All out in tune and so without
or where to go then
chorus
It's All In Time, It's All In Time

Well I'm well endowed
with all the doubt I need.
And I can see that when
your eyes look down on me.
My blood it boils
with passions overflowing.
And I can see that when
your eyes look down.

....'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into the noose
And it just sits there watching

America where are you now?
Don't you care about your sons and daughters?
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster....

And I’ll remind her those summer nights
Doing pills when she couldn’t get drunk
She used to be too young for that shit
And now she’s just too old

Daniel my brother you are older than me
Do you still feel the pain of the scars that won't heal
Your eyes have died but you see more than I
Daniel you're a star in the face of the sky

I was so selfless, I'd give you what's mine
But when I was crying out for help you wouldn't give me your time
The world has this tendency to chew you up and spit you out
Take all your energy and leave you in a drought

I was so naive, I was in love
But now I know love isn't enough Oo no
Because
Life isn't always a two way street
You follow your own turning or end up in defeat

Call me cynical
I'd be surprised if you don't
But if you knew everything that I've been through I'm sure that you won't
People have the tendency to give you false hope
But I can only blame myself I've realized that it's my own fault

Because I was so naive, I was in love
But now I know love isn't enough Oo no
Because
Life isn't always a two way street
You follow your own turning or end up in defeat
Life isn't always a two way street
You follow your own turning or end up in defeat

Life isn't, oh no
Life isn't oh no
Why is life not? Why is life not? Why is life...

Are you ready? you can trust me all the way
Are you ready? well, then let me hear you say
That you’re ready, and the world will know it’s right
Yes, you’re ready, and you know it’s out of sight

Now you’re ready, well, then what you waitin’ for?
If you’re ready, you just open up your door
’cause I’m ready, for everything you got
Yes, I’m ready, come and get it while it’s hot.

Are you ready?
Are you ready?
Are you ready?
Ready
Ready
Ready

No, I do not feel that good when I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief perhaps I'd rob them
And tho I know you're dissatisfied with your position and your place
Don't you understand, its not my problem?

I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment I could be you
Yes, I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is to see you

....My catalogue of failures
Is etched upon my lips
The baggage that I carry
Would sink a thousand ships
My motives are uncertain
Intentions not altogether pure
So now don't you want me beside you
Just like it was before?.......

Once upon a time, it was paradise
Once upon a time, I was paralyzed
Think I'm gonna miss these harbor lights
But it's time to let it go
Once upon a time, it was made for us
Woke up one day, it had turned to dust
Baby, we were found, but now we're lost
So it's time to let it go

Wondering what you're doing, what you're listening to
Which quarter of the moon you're viewing from your bedroom
Watching all the movies, drinking all the smoothies
Swimming at the pool
I'm thinking of you too
I'm thinking of you too

Those people who tell you not to take chances,
they are all missing on what life’s about.
You only live once so take hold of the chance,
don’t end up like others, the same song and dance.

Life.

I'm on the mend
Like I'm wearin' a neck brace
Like I'm sleepin' at my own place
Like I'm pullin' all the stitches out of my own face

I'm on the mend
Like I'm icing a new sprain
Like I'm walkin' on a new cane
Like it's been a couple days
Since I slipped and said somethin' sorta like your name

I know I'll be alright
But I'm not tonight
I'll be lying awake
Countin' all the mistakes I've made
Replayin' fights
I know I'll be alright
But I'm not tonight
I'm on the mend, but I lost a friend

So when I'm all choked up
And I can't find the words
Every time we say goodbye
Baby, it hurts
When the sun goes down
And the band won't play
I'll always remember us this way, way, yeah
When you look at me
And the whole world fades
I'll always remember us this way

And the stories only mine to live and die with
And the answers only mine to come across
But the ghost that I got scared and I got high with
Look a little lost

And it's been awhile
Since I've seen the way the candles light your face
And it's been awhile
But I can still remember just the way you taste

I got a feeling,
that tonight’s gonna be a good night.
That tonight’s gonna be a good, good night. ;)
