School starts a week from today!!!!

I'm lucky with transferring to a new department.
The brats won't be there till September 16th!

If I'm still working there.
The unending wisdom of school management has me dangling all through summer, wondering where I will be posted next year.

Don't worry -- there was a kid in my graduating class who was TWENTY when we graduated.

It's pretty easy to have to repeat a grade - or even two  - in Germany, so when we graduate after 13 years, there's usually quite a few people who are already 20 or 21. My sister managed to totally bomb 8th grade, so she'll be 20 when she graduates. And she's pretty bright, actually. Conclusion: Don't worry, older does not necessarily equal stupid. :D

Anyway, I'll only be back for my Junior year (college) on the 9th of September, but since I'm taking summer classes, moot point.

nana dance for all the moms!

Jesus, that would be deadly for my sleep ... little kids screaming and screetching as if they are in midst of their own bloody murder! Thank GOD, it is still 5 weeks away. :D I need at least that much time to prepare for living across the street from a kindergarten to grade 6 school.

No - not happy. ;)

would it make you happier if I came up there and, um....consoled you? ;)

My Bratlits don't go back until Aug.29th. I can't wait... I love having them around but they need routine.

besides, where I live they have Lots of Holidays all year round. It seems like they only have a 4 day week due to staff meeting and stats. Last year it was rare for them to have to go to school on Fridays.

I like the thought of them having one business day off a month, its handy for Dr. Appointments and stuff. But, our school has taken it to far. I think this up coming school year only has 197 attendance days.

If you can shut them up, and I know you can .... YES! Among other yes's ;)

One of my favorite commercials is that one for Staples where the dad is pushing the buggy down the aisle collecting school supplies and the music "It's the most wonderful time of the year ...." is playing.

:D I like that one too. :D

<gasp!>
We're talking regular public schools here? My goodness, every city around me begins the Tuesday after Labor Day. How early do your schools let out for the summer?

Here's a funnier video from Staples, in my opinion.

The video is here
and well worth your time to watch. It is hilarious.

If someone doesn't know why its funny, you are too young. Just ask here.

No nana dance for me. I'm a tutor at a public school which starts August 18! My son has decided to sit out this year from jr. college so I'm the only one who has to go back to school. Let the whining begin! :(

Could we not rush this please. I have three weeks left before all you mothers start pushing your darlings my way. Could you push them out the door

S L O W L Y

please. :)

You PUSH your kids out the door???

Over here, we KICK them out.

So school started today for my oldest. He's in third grade this year. I walked him in, met his teacher, etc. He got to pick his own seat, and he picked a desk in a group without any other kids and for some reason that made me sad that he wasn't trying to sit with anyone.
I can't wait for him to get home and tell me all about his day. The first day of school, I always spend the day worried about him, even though I know he'll be fine. Of course, I'm also enjoying the quiet today with just the two little ones (no fighting!).

Couple of weeks yet till mine go back.

I'll be taking a few days off at the start of next week to go camping in the Lake District with the family. Hope it stays dry.

Ours started back the 29th of July. Of course, my kids missed the first 6 days of school because we were gone on vacation so Monday was their first day.

Wow! They don't get much of a summer break, do they?

Two months. However, they get a 2 week fall break, 2 week winter break, and 2 week spring break.
