Schools For New Mutants

Professor X

On the way back to the Institute, the Professor was lost in thought... These new students, so very like my original students in their enthusiasm... Will they be ready in time?

Upon arrival, all the students unloaded themselves and whatever purchases they brought with them, rather than having delivered later. "Students, the rest of the evening, and the weekend, you may explore and enjoy the grounds however you wish. Your classes and training starts Monday. I only ask that you let me know if you plan on leaving the grounds." He then wheeled himself towards his office.

OOC: hmm...it's not you dear....these things happen anyway....even i couldn't catch up....*guilty*....

Lucas

OOC: I've been away a few days myself. I think it's just a case of the summer "slows" If we just hang in there, I suspect it will get a lot better soon.

IC: I help the others unload their packages. Most, if not all, didn't get around to everywhere they wanted to go. I didn't do any shopping at all, and figure I may need to head back to town and get a few things like clothes and such to get me by.

I look forward to looking around, but right now, I'm hungry. And there's this sense of being watched I don't much care for. Can't tell where it's coming from, but I'm not about to shrug it off. I haven't kept a step ahead of Feniman's crew this long by ignoring the instincts.

"Hey," I say. "I like the swimming idea, Tara. But, I'll be honest. I am so hungry right now, I could eat a horse, and as the pool seems to be close to the stables, maybe we ought to find a bite first before taking another plunge."

I look at the others, grinning ,say in a bad pirate imitation, "Aye, an' whose wit' me, me hearties? Shall we find the kitchen and pillage?"

Tara

ooc: *squeals in delight* I didn't kill it, I didn't kill it!!!

bic:

I covered my mouth at my unlikely outburst before nodding at Lucas. He had the better idea, of course. Or rather, he and my stomach did. It growled painfully loud, and I dropped my hand to cover my waist line.

"I think you may have a point there, Lucas. C'mon." I grabbed his hand and began pulling him inside, while I motioned a free arm to everyone else.

"I'll cook you guys whatever you want! It'll be great! I'll make coffee, we'll sit and talk..." I droned on and on.. I know I did, but it was my only way to introduce myself to the rest of my fellow students. Besides, I wanted to surprise them.

Inside this petite body, was a rabid gourmet chef just waiting to burst!

Lucas

Laughing, I follow Tara inside along with the other students.

"Sounds good to me," I say. "I'm not particular s'long as there is a lot of it!"

The kitchen is spotless and well furnished, but I can smell even under the scent of the cleaner the smells of good food here.

"Hey, Tara," I say, "If you want to start on the food, I'll start on the coffee. And if you need help with anything else let me know."

As Tara and I bustle around the kitchen, she with the food and me with the coffee, I look around at the other students.

"Okay, seems like as good a time as any to get acquainted," I suggest, suspecting Tara had something like that in mind, too.

"Who wants to go first?"

Professor X

Charles smelled the coffee brewing all the way in his office, smiled, and made a decision. Putting away the notes for a paper he was writing on the Legacy virus, he wheeled his way down to the kitchen where his new students were preparing a meal. "Ahem," he cleared his throat, causing every eye in the room to turn towards him, "believe it or not, I earned my spare money in high school flipping burgers. I don't believe I've totally lost my touch, either." His solemn visage broke open with a beaming smile. "And, if I may join you, I'll be more than happy to prove just that."

Lucas

I grin as I see the Professor wheel in.

"Hi, Prof," I say, pouring the water into the coffee maker and setting it up with the grounds. "Thanks for lettin' us po', hoingry young folk make ourselves down home," I say in as close as I can to the Louisiana accent I heard down Lake Charles way when staying with Mama Pierre and her clan. "You fix sum food, suh, an' I gar-OUN-tee it won' be goin' to waste."

OOC: I've been trying to post for two days, but my computer keeps spazzing out. Hopefully this one will go through. ^_^ I'm assuming ~15-20 have passed since the limo pulled up...

Zoe stepped out of the bathroom wrapped head-to-toe in towels. A nice, hot shower had been the perfect thing to help her relax... even the sick, oily feeling of the residual bio-energy had dissipated. Had she the capacity to process such energy? She shivered; that was a disturbing thought...

At any rate, she felt a lot better. Unwound, loose, a little bit more free. This place was nice, and everyone seemed so friendly... but then, everyone back home had seemed friendly, too. Scary how things could get so ugly so quickly.

Catching a glimpse of herself in the body-length mirror across the room, she paused- even just out of the shower, all alone in her room, she had felt the need to conceal as much of her body as she could. How could she blame others for how they reacted to her, when even she was afraid to look at herself? Try to ignore it... but it won't go away...

Zoe dressed quickly, and stepped out into the hallway. A gray, hooded Arizona tech sweatshirt and matching sweatpants... many sizes too big for her, but they were comfortable. Gauze was wrapped tightly around her upper body under her shirt, up to just beneath her eyes. Her pale, damp hair hung about her head in thick strands, drip-drying slowly.

She could hear the others talking down the hall... might as well join them...

Parasite...Vincent at last.

Vincent wondered how Psionics ever dealt with the voices in there heads. He still had residual Zoe in his heart, brief emotions and glimpses of life. She was so shielded so .....Vincent had always thought his curse was terrible and that no one could understand. But Zoe seemed to harbor the same pains the same curses and she was half as angsty about it. she was just caustious, 'a trait I should emulate...especially seeing as how my powers affect people.' Vincent sighed he had blacked out on the ride home and let his sub concious deal with the fact that he was someonelse for a bit. When he got home he showered and felt worlds better. Slowly he made peace with his fragile psyche. He picked up his beloved guitar and started playing. He had no idea how he knew how to play , but then again he rembered almost nothing from his childhood. he tried to focus on the brief images he treasured from his youth but they were always followed by nightmares and pain...he shivered slightly and played the guitar...It was the opening to Robert Plant's "Ship of Fools" It was soft and ballad like and seemed to fit his mood. He looked out the window of the library as he played and watched the fading sun.

Professor X

The smell of frying hamburgers soon filled the kitchen as Charles prepared enough for all the hungry young people. "Your Cajun accent is commendable, Lucas. Remy LeBeau would have been impressed. Spend much time in Louisiana?" He motioned for everyone to help themselves as he took one burger for himself, and moved over to the table.

Emma Frost

OOC: Sorry I havent posted...been busy moving back to AZ. How many of Ms Frost's students are still around?

IC: A knock on the door signalled the arrival of the pizzas that had been ordered and Emma herself answered the door and paid for them.

Using her telepathy, she called her students together. "It is time to eat. The pizza will be in the dining room. Please eat and get some rest. Training will start in the morning."

Leaving the stacks of pizza cartons in the dining room, she went back into her office. Her mind was filled with the events of the day and she was not happy that she had caused such a clamour in Cai's mind. The young woman could not know that indeed, Emma had known what her interference would do to the girl and had done it deliberately.

Time was growing short and all of the personalities needed to find each other and come to terms with each other. Only by bringing them to the surface would this be possible. Only then would she be able to control them and their powers herself.

But for now Emma would give the girl a rest and simply look for another opportunity to coax the entities out.

Lucas

Taking a hamburger from the tray, I try to remember I'm among civilized folks and force myself to let it last at least three bites before I reach for another. Even that little bit of food hitting the ol' system helps, and I can feel myself relaxing.

I nod to the Professor. "La Beau, the one they called Gambit, right? He's something of a hero down there among the mutant underground. Yeah," I say, smiling as I remember, "I spent about three months down there with a group led by a woman called Mama Pierre. If there's some sort of mutation for sheer motherly affection, she's got it."

I fall quiet, recalling why I had to leave. Those two hotshot mutants who claimed to be recruiting for some sort of team to "kick normie ass". They I could've ignored, but that guy they brought with them as muscle: big, blonde cat like creep spoiling for a fight and that same predator reaction...well, I got away with one of his teeth and my skin and I figure I was dammed lucky to do that. Part of me hopes I never meet up with him again. Another part, though...

Getting up without a word, I go to the coffee machine so no one can see my face. With my back to the Professor and the other students, I ask in as calm a voice as possible. "Anyone want some coffee?"

Cai Chan: Solitary

Cai remained in her room even after being called to dinner. She knew it was bad form, but she was still badly shaken from what had happened in the car, she no longer felt safe. Not only had she had that strange vision, but nobody had said a word to her - or much to each other - as they had gone to their separate rooms. It didn't cross her mind that they may all be exhausted, she was too lost in her own battle. She considered leaving the academy - but to do what? Returning to the streets held no good prospects, it was even more dangerous than here. Other than that, she had nowhere else to go. Cai slumped on her bed in a foetal position and rocked herself to sleep.

OOC: What has happened to the students from the Mass. Acad.?

Tara

I blinked slowly at Lucas' answer, my head finally returning from the refrigerator with my prize: Romain Lettuce. I'd cook meat, just not eat it. At first his voice had been lighter, then suddenly it took a turn again as he turned his back on the professor.

I bit my lip in uncertainty before shifting a coffee mug closer to Lucas' hand. "Please," I said softly, arching an eyebrow at him.

However, I let the subject drop as I tried to change the topic to another. "I heard stories about Gambit... er Remy. About lots of the others too. I-- I realize we're here to learn, but there's got to be a higher plan for this, am I right?"

A wave of uncertaintly flitters across my mind, but I blink it away. "I mean... are we supposed to finish what they started?"

Zoe stretched as she walked down the hall. Dinner time, eh? Well, she could sit and watch everyone else eat...

Vincent

Vincent listened as an elusive melody tumbled threw his brain he tried to recall where he had heard it. He tried to get the guitar to help him coax it out. When suddenly the image of pizza tumbled its way into his thoughts, he would have to get used to having such a powerful teacher he thought to himself. Vincent cased his guitar and slung it across his back. he slid downstairs and looked over the selection of pizza smiling when he saw Zoe. He looked around to his other friends...'friends' he thought to himslef....'I like the sound of that'Vincent took a moment to appreciate the feeling of camraderie...it was foreign and sweet and he couldnt help but smile.

Rachel

Rachel raced down the stairs the minute the delivery guy arrived she smiled at Ms.Frost as she grabed several diffrent slices and raced back upstairs. She figured Ms Frost was a Telepath and Rachel wasnt exactly hiding her plans. She parked outside Cai's door. She knocked gently and hoped the smell of pizza would help to coax her out. Rachel wondered if she should get the others to help as well. but she decided to try just being a friend first. She knocked again and waited for Cai to answer.

Shen Chan: The Voice

Shen was aware of Rachel's arrival, and her intention, but knew Cai needed to sleep. Perhaps it was time that she herself met some of the people who were at this school where the system had arrived, to determine herself just how safe they were. She focused her attention down from the world of spirit to the spirit of Rachel herself.

Cai is not present now. She transmitted telepathically to Rachel. I am Shen. I am the inner self helper. I am the one who knows what is in this child and her inner family.

She paused as Rachel looked around her for a second to see who was speaking, before she realised that this was a telepath like Ms. Frost.

Yes, I am a telepath as she. Unlike Ms. Frost though, I am unseen. I have no body, only soul. I am not in one place but everywhere. Yet now I focus on you. Let us find you a seat, friend Rachel, and talk.

Lucas

I smile, if somewhat lamely, at Tara and pour her some coffee. I'm back in control again, more or less, as I top my own cup off. Leaning against the counter, I look at the Professor. I'm aware of his abilities to look into our minds. Well, I have a few abilities of my own, not telepathy, certainly, but sight and scent that I've leared to use to gather information even just in conversation.

And my curiosity is heightened, too. All I know is I've been following a vision to this place and now...yeah, now I'd like to know why myself.

Professor X

"That is a good question, and you deserve an answer. Tara, Lucas, (OOC: And ANYBODY else left alive around here!)we do have a higher purpose. My first students were the X-Men, heroes in every sense of the word. Last year, they died defending the world from a band of other-dimensional villains who referred to themselves as the Collective. They were evil counterparts to many of the heroes in our world. Evidently, they had conquered their own version of Earth, and wanted a new world to conquer... ours." He paused, and gratefully accepted a cup of coffee from Lucas.

"Forge, a brilliant scientist and mutant, is working on a way to enter their world, as the portal they created was destroyed by the XMen. It is possible that some of the XMen yet live, trapped in that other Earth. Once you are trained, I will ask you to volunteer to go there, and do what you can."

OOC: Are there any other players left on the Prof X side, besides sojournerwolf and Licci~Nicci? If so, please post...

OOC: Once we know who is still here, Neale and I have come up with a great adventure....so lets get a head count so we can get this rolling.

Tara

I bit my lip as I thought, mulling over what the Professor said. I'd volunteer, of course... but still.

"Professor," I blurted suddenly, "I'll gladly volunteer, but... well I don't know if I can do it. I'm no Rogue, or Storm, or anything. I weave Dreams, and that's not much. I don't have any attacks, or whatever you want to call them."

I shrugged softly, and sipped at my coffee. "It worked at the Mall, but those were normal people... These are people like us."

ooc: *taps self on head and counts* One... and a lame post to go with the count.

Lucas

Mulling over what the Professor has said, I sip my coffee. There've been rumors about this Collective, but only that, in the mutant underground, not stories like those of the X-Men.

The rumors, though, were ugly enough.

I close my eyes for a moment and consider. I've been travelling a lot these past couple of years, and seen a lot of weird stuff...hell, for that matter, I am weird compared to normies...and I don't feel particularly heroic.

Still, what the Professor says sounds right somehow. Maybe all Grandfather's talk about destiny did have meaning. Then again, it could just be a quick way to get killed.

I open my eyes and look at the Professor. There's really only one answer I can give.

"Okay," I say, "I'm in. What's next?"

Professor X

"What's next, my young friends, is that we train, and hone your powers to their utmost. Immediately, however, there is one very important task to be accomplished." The professor's solemn look brightened, "Dishes!"

OOC: We are planning a major plot twist that will bring the students together again, on a more permanent basis. To that end, if there are any students who have NOT posted recently, please do so. Isolde plans to implement the start of that twist very soon.

Lucas

Laughing, I start carrying plates to the sink and begin filling the basin with hot, sudsy water.

Grinning, I look over at Tara. "Flip ya for who washes, who dries?"

OOC: Okay, so this is a less than subtle way to bump this thread back up top. *L* But, hey, I really like this thread and would very much like to see it continue.
