Self Portrait Tips?

Get a tripod, they really do help. Set up the space to pose and focus where you will be posing, then set the timer and get into that place. Or as one friend that I profoundly admire her work does, use video. Set the camera running, get in place then go through about 8 or 9 poses, hold each one just a bit, then pause and screen grab, voila!

Hope that helps.

I don't know how to screen grab :(

mirror and finger over flash? haha thats all Ive got, I hate having my pic taken so... i suck at taking my own pic too...

I just have to jump in here and say thanks for your AV...hope your pic works...dont put too much stress over it as the first one will hopefully turn into many soon.

I definately think the mirror works the best, other than worrying about the flash, but hey i dont ahve a timer

haha, I have no idea where Roseville is

A lotta times the flash makes me look washed out since I'm so pale. Also, I just learned how to use the timer and it is great.

Just post a pic and go from there, nobody ever got it "perfect" the firt time not the 20th time, so post wahtever works for you!

about an hour north, northwest of sac... thats cool, mine doesnt have one

fair warning, if you get some pics taken taht yu like, you can use photobucket to resize and save them resized, but dont leave them on there... they will delete any kind of nudity or 'obscene" content in a heartbeat... hell they even deleted a pic of my bulge (partial) behind my boxers

So... Did you ever take any self portraits? Did you post the results?

If you're still interested, I have a few more specific suggestions.

This not directed at you but the thing I find most distracting while looking at posters pic's is the background. Laundry. Hairspray. Dirty sheets or other crap. Many a great photo of a lovely lady have been ruined by clutter

Take shots near windows with good natural lighting, avoid flash.

I still need to take some both for here & myspace but I don't currently have any digital camera access :(

I finally have a pic of myself up on my sig. Me and my crazy crooked smile. With last year's blonde hair. It doesn't look at all like that anymore.
