Series Glitch?

Last last night/early this morning my new story "Repeat Offender" was published - it's the second chapter of my series "The Third Wheel," yet it's not showing as part of that series, and when I look at my "Works" list on my profile, it doesn't appear at all (even when I sort by alphabetical, as I've seen recommended), and even the first chapter, "My Rookie Season," doesn't show as part of a series. I would really like for these stories not to get lost in some series-less void... can anybody tell me what's going on or what I can do to fix this and prevent future chapters from having the same problem?

Still not working right... and over 24 hours later no response from Manu. I understand people are busy, but the first few days a story is "new" are so important, and I just want to know how to get it to work right next time because I'm going to have more to submit very soon. So frustrating.

Sorry, but responses and fixes here don't work on that timescale. You're probably doomed to weeks of uncertainty. I once got a fix within eight minutes of reporting it, but that was ridiculously lucky, and not remotely like what most people experience. You can't just message management and get it fixed. Lots of people have problems; sometimes they get fixed after about a month.

Given the naming, it must be a manual series. So, two questions:

1) Has the series been approved?
2) Have you added the second story to the series?

1) It is manual, I have no idea whether it's been approved or not. In the "Series (Beta)" section of my control panel it reads as "Draft," which makes no sense to me because I submitted the first story as part of the series and it's been published; but it also says that it's a 1-part series, which it should not be. The other series that's working properly ("The Unfamily") shows as "published," and it has since basically the first day. Nothing about approved vs. not. (Longer and separate story about why I haven't had the second part of that series published.)

2) Yes, I even did the whole "save draft so that the series options show up" trick, and made sure to add the second story to the series. And now the second story is published - but isn't showing up anywhere, as part of a series or otherwise, including on my Works page. I'm not even sure how the very few people who've read it and rated it are finding it to read it and rate it, other than maybe due to being notified because they favorited me or something.

Would be thrilled if those answers helped you to guide me to another solution...!!

And there is your problem. You need to a) 'Create' the series, then b) 'Publish' it. It won't appear until it has been approved. This is a completely separate process, which you can complete before writing a word of a story.

I think the non-appearance of the second story may be the timing issue.

When adjusting a series manually, you have to first 'Save' then 'Publish' the series. I had just enough chapters that the Publish button was below the bottom of the screen and I had 3 series that I had set up, but were not showing up properly. I eventually went back to check why and saw the Publish button. I hit that for all of my unpublished series and presto! Everything is showing properly.

Thank you for figuring out the problem - I legit do not remember having to go through that step with the first series, which is why the "draft" status of the second (while the stories were already actually online) was so confusing to me. I've gone ahead and hit Publish for the second (and a third one for which I haven't submitted a story yet), so now I hope/think it's just a matter of waiting.
