Alcohol is a depressant and can cause evrything you're asking about; there's reason it was used an anesthetic for surgery before truly effective anesthetics were developed.

Every person reacts to alcohol differently, though. Different functions and sensations are dulled at different times.

The best advice is "Don't have sex when drunk or with a drunk" because your judgement and hers are impaired and your senses are dulled.

Very true, especially since sex with someone who's under the influence (of alcohol, drugs) is considered rape in most places, even if they consent to sex or don't say "no."

I knew a girl in college who had sex while drunk, and because she'd cheated on he boyfriend, she claimed it was rape after the fact. She later admitted she was consenting, but she could have easily caused trouble for her sex partner because there were plenty of witnesses to her inebriation and the guy taking her home. She's a scumbag for making a false claim, but other women really do make different choices and are raped because they're intoxicated, so having sex with a drunk woman is playing with fire.

I wasn't exactly thinking of the legal issues, I was thinking more of the "unsafe sex" aspect when judgementis impaired and the fact that one or both of the participants won't actually enjoy the sex.

However, there ARE legal issues and the (relatively) recent change in laws defining sex with someone who is too impaired to consent as rape is not one that is widely publicized or discussed.

I don't think any of us really thought you were, But unless you're married, you might have been breaking the letter of a law you weren't even aware of -- even with a long-term live-in GF.

As I said though, I was thinking more in terms of the ability to enjoy sex being depressed along with the inhibitions that might make a drinker more willing. Or the tendency to forget things like a condom during, or skip a BC Pill the next morning because of impaired judgement/hangover.

Of course, it all depends an the tolerance for alcohol and the amount of alcohol involved.

It makes you dry because alcohol is a diuretic...meaning you will lose far more liquid than you will take in (this is what causes hangovers...the dehydration). You need water to be well-lubed and alcohol, soda (my biggie), or coffee will dry you out like a sponge if over indulged.
