Let's compile a list of subtle, or not so subtle, signals of one's sexual preference for gender, lifestyle, kink or whatever.

For example, some people who are polyamorous wear a parrot on some kind of jewelry. Think of it as a "Poly Parrot".

Unfortunately, most of my interests are either (1) too obscure for anyone else to be bothered with or (2) populated heavily with persons lacking in subtlty. Something of a quandry. I have, for example, seen a number of ways of indicating visually that one has a bent for bondage, but none that I would call subtle.

Hmmmm. What would be a good subtle one for that? A bracelet made of silk cord in a variety of fancy knots? Seems still too unsubtle to me.

That bracelet made of cords or the ring would be extremely subtle to me. So would the men's earrings. I am not a very sensitive person. If a woman were wearing a tshirt that said something like "I like to fuck" or "I like to have my pussy eaten", I could get with those but that's about what it would take.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I didn't understand it at the time, but a friend of mine once told me that her favorite TV show was Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

At the time I thought, "Wow, why would anyone watch that show. Buffy is a real ditz."

Only later did I find out that the show is a real favorite among lesbians because the Willow character was one of the first main stream gay characters.

My friend was trying to figure out if she could come out to me and it went straight over my head... so to speak.

Mmmmmmm...Shangy...the sexiest quadroped in the universe.
Honestly, Shangy, I wouldn't make that connection, but that kind of thing tends to slip right past me. I'd see it and think, "What a pretty and cool looking bracelet." Then I'd go find one in sterling silver and be declaring to the world that I'm so into bondage that I'm wearing a bangle made of precious metal, and not even realizing that's what I'm saying...LMAO

I love the ring. But I feel so unhip to the world. I had no idea there *was* a standard BDSM symbol.

I think I shall take up silk-knotting as a hobby. I've had some practice.

When it comes to body language and other similar non-verbal cues, I'm dyslexic. I may see them but they will not carry the message intended to my awareness.

I'm not sure if that's due to the way my brain's wired, my lack of life experience or both.

Life would be a whole lot easier if we adopted a numerical code. This is my plan:
- assign a number at birth, this will be you personal ID and telephone number worldwide (handy for when the teleporting services start)
- personally choose your last four didgits
- odd-even-0-0 = hetrosexual
- odd-odd-0-0 = homosexual
- even-even-0-0 = lesbian
- even-odd-0-0 = bi-sexual
then use the two 0's to highlight any particular prediliction - gives you 99 choices
You will be able to use your mobile to find everyone within a hundred metre radius who is, for example: bi-sexual and looking right now for a foot massage and blow job.

let us not forget the 6 color rainbow.... though originally only within a triangle meant gay (or lesbian, it is an equal opportunity symbol) the rainbow has basically been usurped in any form to mean gay/lesbian/bi/transgendered people.

I have a 7 color necklace (7 chakras) but I just allow it to double as a "pride" necklace because the average person doesn't know about chakras but they do know the pride colors!
