Sorry sweetie, I so disagree. From a girly fashion perspective anway, which I completely understand is not where you're coming from!

As a compromise, I'll offer this - if the dress is floor length with heels (in other words, the heels are mostly covered by the dress), I will allow it. However, if with heels, the dress hits your ankles - gah, no.

Now, red with a red shoe is tricky, because you don't want to look like you're doing the whole prom dyed to match thing. Having said that - Alt I love those shoes with the bow on the heel! I am a sucker for bows.

For this dress, I think you shouldn't do all red on the shoe. I like those rhinestone ones with the red heel that Alt posted.

Le sigh. Too bad I'm broke. I so want to go shoe shopping! Perhaps I can find something on ebay to appease myself...

Are you high? Have you seen Kate Moss lately? Maybe they aren't fuck me sexy, but they are fashionable on little slip of a thing models. I'm a little more bootylicious than Kate though, so I stick with the three inch heels. But I did have a floor length satin dress that I wore with little black satin slippers to a wedding a couple of years ago, and I looked fantabulous, if I do say so myself.

I'm not high, but odds are good that Kate Moss was. Everybody knew she had to be when she went out in flats. Now I'm not all about stripper heels (not even slightly as I prefer more sleekish styles), although they are good for certain occasions, but flats are an upchucking straight from hell.

If ya want to wear comfy shoes that doesn't cripple your back or poke little chitlins eyes out, then flats are a proper choice. But in terms of fashion? Nope, anything a flat can do any hi heel can do better.

I'm not even going with the comfy shoe argument. I agree that in general, heels with skirts and long pants are the way to go. But you have to pair your pants and heels so that the pants almost cover the shoes, just the toe pokes out.
