Yep, it is, entirely too easy to take what we have and where we are for granted. Whatever we may think or however we may judge, they were men at the end of each and every day. People caught up in a bizarre experience not of their making. Food for thought for those who will.

They just reneged first. Stalin was coming, but later. Like any other pact between the criminally minded, it ain't worth the paper it was written on.
No, would never have attacked Germany -- he was preoccupied with building "socialism in one country." Of course he took over Eastern Europe after the war -- after what Russia had just been through, he could hardly pass up the chance to form a defensive frontier against invasion from the West.
