I chatted briefly with Laurel about this in a DM but the issue remains unresolved.

I am submitting this for a friend who has been trying to sign up and register of a user on this site so that he can publish a story. He completes the registration steps but never receives a verification e-mail. Should he attempt to log in under the credentials entered without the verification e-mail being received?

Why would he NOT try logging in?

Emails are quite broken, but could be blacklist related, meaning someone who knows what they’re doing would have to get involved. No offense and bless your heart, Lit. ;) There’s also the problem of being adult oriented. Even if someone knew what they were doing, it could be tough.

What email provider? Mine is outlook.com, haven’t gotten an email from lit since April.

If it's email providers, there are lots of free ones (e. g. Proton) that your friend could try.

One way to find out - try logging in, regardless whether or not he's received a verification email.

@milfkaren , what part failed?

Most people who try and have problems seem to more or less do everything right, but never get their emails.

Many just give up, not all have the happy endings like this thread’s example

I know on Gmail you can add suffixes when signing up that make it easier to sort your mail, but some places glitch on the special characters and either won’t let you sign up or biff the alerts and confirmation emails. Is your friend being clever?
