Sam didn't hesitate to drape his arms around her waist, turning to settle her on her back to encourage her to relax. He brushed his hair to one side, leaning down again to steal another, slower kiss. When they were away from home, they both slept in tunics and trousers to be ready to go at any moment, their armor close by, so Sam took his time hooking his thumbs at the waistline of her trousers and smoothly pulling them away. His own shirt followed and then hers, but not in any great rush. Sam settled against her with the ease and comfort of a longtime lover, peppering kisses along her throat and chest.

"I love you," he murmured far more easily than in their early days, with two decades of experience and loyalty behind the words.

Fiona didn't hesitate to reach for Sam's trousers, pushing them down over his hips as he got them as naked as they possibly could be. It had been months. Far too long, in her opinion. She clung to him as he kissed her senseless, gasping as he explored her body in the most familiar way. He knew every inch of her, but it was still as if he were seeing her for the first time.

"I've missed you terribly." She murmured as he explored lazily.

"No' quite the romantic night in I was planning fer when we get home..." Sam murmured with a little smile. "But we can still do tha' anyway." As he spoke, he trailed kisses down her chest and belly. "Send th'kids off fer a night... good dinner, wine, an' just us..." He hadn't mentioned that he'd been planning any kind of date, though he had occasionally mentioned a clan feast before they headed for Scotland. It seemed their long time apart because of her injuries had been on his mind too and he wanted to make up for some of it.

Sam was soon settled comfortably between her thighs, mindful of the dark scar on one leg, as he simply lost himself in loving her the best way her knew.

"You've been planning?" Fiona asked as Sam teased her with that little bit of information, thinking about their night at home without the children and worries.

She let out a moan as he settled between her thighs, legs held open by his broad shoulders as he feasted. A heated whimper left her lips as she laced her fingers through his hair, pulling him close and letting her eyes close to savor the moment.

As he'd aged, Sam had become more of a giving lover. As a younger man, his physical relationship with Fiona had been one of balanced giving and taking, aggressive and energetic at times. But as Sam had calmed and matured, he seemed to take almost as much delight in pleasing her as she did. That held true as he seemed to devour her, encouraged by her soft sounds and her fingers laced through his long hair, seeing her eyes closed and her head tilted back when he glanced up.

Just as that soft first peak hit, he pulled back and crawled up, his hips settling against hers. His own fingers tangled in her long white-blonde hair, gently tilting her head back as he kissed her throat and gave her a little nip while he slowly sunk into her body with a quiet, comfortable sigh.

Fiona was floating as she felt Sam crawl up her body, his hips fitting so perfectly against hers. She gasped as his rough fingers tangled in her long hair, tilting her head back so that he had better access to her throat. A whimper burst from her lips as he nipped at her skin and sank into her body at the same time, giving her the pleasure and distraction that she so desperately sought.

Her fingers found his broad shoulders first and then smoothed down his back, tracing over the familiar lines of his tattoos. She had memorized each and every one of them, could feel them by heart.

Exhausted as he was, Sam made love to her til they both passed out from exhaustion, and again when she stirred in the night with a bad dream and he sought to distract her again.

Come morning, the camp was packing up early, but fairly quiet as everyone seemed tense or tired or both. Soma was up early seeing to the dragons and helping Idunn acclimate to the routine. She seemed to be a warrior herself, and so was quick to pick up the rhythm with Schaller's advice as well. In broad daylight, she was another Elder without a doubt, titanic and imposing like Schaller and Dzana. It was at her recommendation that a saddle was refitted for her so that Soma could fly with her and they could continue to talk. As cordial and polite as Soma was, he was also ecstatic at the opportunity to learn more about her.

Sam and Fiona emerged a bit late, only to find that between Jani and Andre and a few others, the camp was already mostly packed up, food was waiting for them, and their dragons were already saddled. They needed only to pack up their remaining belongings and go. It also seemed that some of Sam's officers already had the front of the caravan ready to go, knowing the Riders could catch up.

"Well, damn. Runs pretty smoothly without us," Sam murmured as he and Fiona sat down to eat and saw everything and everyone else nearly finished. "Might as well go t'Mongolia fer a vacation."

“We’ve never had a proper vacation with just the both of us. Something always comes up.” Fiona said with a slight smile as she quietly ate her breakfast. “Children, messages, riders, soldiers, you name it. I don’t think we’ve ever truly been alone since we were first a couple.”

"Well, we had tha' short vacation in th'south o' France, but it wasn' much," Sam said with a shrug. "Never feels like enough. Maybe someday we can jus' drop everythin' on Jani an' run away." He grinned lightly at that, knowing Jani was close enough to hear as she was helping Soma finish packing nearby.

"There's no place you could hide if you did that, old man," Jani called back, chucking a small pebble his way. It landed short and Sam chuckled to himself.

"Wouldn' dream o' keepin' you from yer darlin' bride, lass," Sam teased, knowing Jani was still bashful about the whole topic despite being married. Jani turned a bit red and turned her back as Sam grinned. Tired as he was, he was at least in a brighter mood.

"Don't tease her too much, Sam. She'll give it back to you ten fold." Fiona warned as Sam took a little joy in making Jani blush. "Besides, she took care of everything so that we could have a few more moments together this morning."

"Yeah, I know. Gonna make sure she an' Dola get a honeymoon once we get back. No waiting twenty years like us." As Sam finished and Andre came to retrieve his cooking tools once they were washed, they were soon setting off.

The rest of the journey northeast was mercifully boring, and their arrival in Trondheim was welcomed calmly and quietly. Many folk were glad to see the soldiers hadn't had to fight yet and to hear that the soldiers would have about a month at home.

Arriving back at the yellow manor, the dragons landed in the courtyard and Sam slipped down from his saddle to stare at the house and then his small workshop, taking a deep breath before turning back to Invah to get her unsaddled. They'd stay a while before going to the Voya to join Tati and their family there. Riley and Andre were free to do as they pleased. Among the rest of the family, they already knew Brogan and Shani had split off at Kell's encouragement to have their own vacation, and some family members were going to a small coastal village nearby to relax.

As Fiona's family approached the house, Siobhan was there finishing up cleaning, and Dola was helping her. When Sam walked in, Dola looked up and smiled, soon hurrying to Andre as he entered, and hugging both him and Riley close. When Andre noticed her glancing past, he could only laugh.

"She's still out there, go get her," Andre encouraged, and Dola slipped past to catch Jani who had escorted the family home alongside Ezra as always. The powerful Icelandic Rider still practically melted the moment her wife of only a few months kissed her, forgetting everything else.

"An' she calls me a sap," Sam commented with a little smile before hauling his bags up the stairs.

"You are!" Andre called after him.

"Takes one to know one, young man."

With that, they all split off to put things away, wash up, and just relax for a little while.

The first order of business after taking care of Marth was to draw a steaming hot bath. Riley loved a hot bath, but she hated the care of her fur that needed to occur after. Still, after that long in the saddle and even longer sleeping in their ger, she was ready for at least one creature comfort.

She was drifting in the water, up to her chin in the steaming liquid with her foot paws propped on the edge of the metal tub. It was sheer heaven, she thought to herself as she closed her eyes and simply existed for a moment.

After a few minutes, a gentle knock sounded on the door and Andre poked his head in. "Hey," he said softly, bringing in a tray with food made up by Siobhan, and some tea. "Not gonna bug you, just figured you might be hungry," he offered, sitting the tray down on a side table.

"Of course you wanted to bug me." She murmured, stretching with a mighty yawn. "Why else would you have come up?"

She glanced over to the side as he placed a tray for her on the table. Whatever Siobhan had cooked smelled delicious and instantly her mouth was watering.

"Are you going to be a food snob about what she made?" Riley asked, raising an eye brow at Andre as he stood over the tub.

"Why would I be? It's good, just not what I'm used to from Greece." Andre chuckled, straightening and looking down at her. "You Northerners would be rolling on the ground in agony if I brought pepper and spices anywhere near you."

"See. A snob." Riley said with a small smirk. "And you won't know what we can handle unless you try. You forget that we've traveled all over the place, had food from places that most might have never even heard of before. I'm sure I can handle your little spices and peppers."

"Okay, I'll be sure to make something properly spicy and not warn you ahead of time." Andre leaned down to steal a kiss, chuckling as he pulled back. "Maybe once you're dry. No wet Foxes allowed. In the meantime, your Da decided to start up his forge, so I'm gonna go help him."

"Of course he did. He's obsessed." Riley said as she rolled her eyes. "He's probably going to fret over Ma's armor again for the thirtieth time since he decided to redesign it."

"Can you blame him though?" Andre asked, pausing by the door, growing just a little more somber at the thought. "He loves her more than anything and not only did he think he was going to lose her twice... but now that she's back on her feet, he's desperately trying to help her get back to normal. I can see she feels like a burden sometimes, having to take things slower til she's properly healed. I'm pretty sure we both know that feeling well." Andre shrugged slightly. "Sam just wants her to be safe and strong, without keeping her from what she wants and needs to do, much as he wants to shield her from the world... I understand that pretty well with my Ma... and now with you too."

Riley let out a sigh as she turned and was soon resting her arms and chin on the rim of the tub. "My Ma is stronger than anyone gives her credit for. If she could survive the childhood that she had, she can survive anything. Everyone just needs to give her some space."

"He tries, that's why he's trying to make sure she can do things without help. But it's tough to watch someone struggle when you love them." He came back to the edge of the bath, crouching down to about eye-level with her. "Tough as you act all the time, you know it too."

"I know it well." She said softly as he met her with that familiar, soft gaze. "I went through hell with you just to have you here right now. I'd do it again in a heartbeat."

"And if you ever get thrown in a dungeon- assuming they manage to take you alive- I'll be sure to do the same," Andre murmured with a little smirk, leaning in to press his forehead to hers. He closed his eyes with a quiet sigh, enjoying the moment with her as that familiar connection warmed between them.

"Oh, I'll let them take me alive. That's the only way to make their lives a living hell." Riley said with a smirk as Andre pressed his forehead against her own and their connection bonded them as it had been doing for the past couple of months. "They'll be begging you to take me back by the time that I'm through with them."

"You're probably right." As he pulled back, he could only look at her with a silly little smile. "Regardless... I love you."
